Installation and Startup Guide for the
MX2, MX3, MX 4, MX5 or MX6 Series
Thank you for purchasing the original and one of the world’s finest
PC bay insert displays. At Matrix Orbital, we are proud to offer quality
products that are easy to install and use. Please note that the MX2,
MX3, MX4, MX5 and MX6 are identical for installation purposes.
They are different only in the technology that they possess. These
instructions are also available on the eCD in full color.
Now please check that everything was correctly shipped to you:
• 1x Display in bay insert
• 1x 3ft USB cable attached to LCD
• 1x eCD (with a LCDC activation code on top)
• 4x screws (they will be attached to the bay insert)

Installing Your Display
1. Turn off your computer.
2. Remove the cover from an empty 5¼” drive bay and the sides of
the case.
3. Insert the display into the drive bay.
4. Screw the bracket into place.
5. Feed the USB cable through an empty PCI bracket. If you have the
optional Internal USB cable, please refer to the Internal USB
install page.
6. Plug in the USB cable into a free USB port on your computer.
7. Replace the sides of your case. Peel off the protective sticker on the
PC Bay insert face.
8. Turn on your computer. The display should power up and display
“Matrix Orbital MX2xx, MX3xx, MX4xx, MX5xx or MX6xx”.

Installing Windows USB Drivers for
the MX2, MX3, MX4, MX5 or MX6
The MX2/MX3/MX4/MX5/MX6 will require Windows drivers to operate
that can be downloaded from our website or directly from the eCD.
Drivers are located on the eCD under USB_Drivers/. These drivers are
for all the Windows versions. These drivers have been tested with
Windows 98, Windows ME, Windows 2000 and Windows XP. The
drivers will create a “Virtual COM Port” on your computer, allowing
you to use any Display software or utilities. If you are installing for
Windows 2000, please use the instructions on the eCD.
Installing Windows XP USB Drivers
When the display is plugged in, Windows will detect new hardware.

1. The Windows Installation Wizard Loads to help with the install.
Press next to continue.
2. Select Search for a suitable driver for my device and press next.
3. Specify a location.
4. Go to your CD-ROM
drive, and to the directory
USB_Drivers.
5. Windows should find a
correct info file. Press OK,
then press next.

6. Press “Continue Anyway”.
7. Part I of the install is now completed.
8. Windows will now detect a second new device.
9. Once again, press Search for a suitable driver for my device and
press next.

10. Like before, specify a location.
11. Point the Install Wizard to the correct directory.
12. Windows install will find a second info file, press OK and
then next.
13. Press “Continue Anyway”.

14. Installation of the drivers is now completed.
15. Lets double check that the device drivers were properly loaded
by going into the Control Panel/Hardware.
Now you are ready to install LCDC!

Installing LCDC
Welcome to the exciting world of Matrix Orbital and LCDC. As part
of the MX bundle you have a full copy of LCDC included for your
personal use. LCDC has been developed by Matthew Augier
(aka Mat-d-Rat) for Matrix Orbital displays. LCDC is the worlds most
advanced LCD/VFD software featuring the most advanced plugins
and features. The LCDC software is included on the eCD with your
display and can be found in the LCDC directory or here. If you already
have a copy of LCDC and you are looking for the latest upgrade, click
here. You will require to register your copy of LCDC with the activation
number you received on the front of your eCD. To register your LCDC
please click HERE.
The LCDC manual has been broken up into several sections to cover
the basics of LCDC. For more information, please visit the LCDC
Website manual.
Registering LCDC Software
You will be required to activate your LCDC key, please note that the
key code on the front of the CD IS NOT your LCDC serial key!
