Preparation Before Installation
Prior to installing the door lock, you need to determine the opening direction of the door, as there
are some adjustments that may need to be made to the lock body, door handle orientation and the
spindle rotation direction. Don’t worry if you get it wrong, as it’s easy enough to remove the lock
from the door and re-adjust, if necessary.
Determine Door Opening Direction
There are four possible opening directions of a door. In our case, we want to view the door from the
outside, looking in, and use this as our reference point for determining the opening direction.
The first two diagrams, then, are with the door with the hinge on the RIGHT side as we look inwards.
The opening directions are Right Outward and Right Inward, respectively.
RIGHT OUTWARD
RIGHT INWARD
The next two diagrams have the hinge on the LEFT side. The opening directions are Left Outward and
Left Inward, respectively.

LEFT INWARD
Once you’ve determined which direction your door is opening, proceed to make adjustments to the
door mechanisms.

7
Lock Body Adjustment
Having determined the door opening direction, we first need to adjust the direction of the door latch
on the lock body, so that it will engage correctly when the door closes.
The rule of thumb here is quite simple. Simply rotate the door latch so that its bevel (curved bit)
points in the direction of the door frame, once it is fitted into the door. The following procedure
outlines how to do this:
1) Pull up the Rotate Switch, which will
release the door latch, enabling you to
rotate it.
2) Pull the door latch out and rotate it 180
degrees, as shown, making sure the bevel
(curved bit) points towards the door
frame.
3) Push the door latch back in and release
the Rotate Switch.

8
Door Handle Orientation
Depending on the door opening direction, you may need to rotate the handles on the front and rear
plates of the door unit. The procedure below explains how to do this.
1) Using a Philips screwdriver, remove the
screw holding the handle in place, as
shown.
2) Rotate the handle 180 degrees clockwise
and tighten the screw again.
3) Rotate the handle to check it works
normally.
4) Repeat the above for the other side (inside
door unit).

9
Adjust Spindle Clutch
Finally, we need to adjust the spindle clutch on the Front Panel, to properly align with the door
handle according to the door opening direction.
Marked on this spindle clutch is an arrow. This arrow must point in the same direction as the handle
(i.e. point away from the door edge).
Rotate this clutch, using a pair of pliers, until the arrow points in the correct direction. This will
ensure that when you rotate the handle, the locking mechanism will move the bolts as expected
when engaged.
Note: If, after you have fitted the door unit, the bolts do not engage when locking, then this clutch
has not been set correctly and needs to be adjusted again.
