Introduction
This guide describes how to mount and install the ITI-2135 and ITI-2147 PCI
Bridged Riser Cards in your system.
Organization of this Guide
This guide is organized in the following way:
•Overview of the Bridged Riser Cards
•Power and Dimensional Specifications
•Installing the Riser Card
Overview of the Riser Cards
The ITI-2135 and ITI-2147 Bridged Riser Cards provide a method of turning a
PCI slot 90oto enable a low profile 2U system to use standard height PCI cards.
The Riser provides three full function PCI slots. IntraServer Bridged Riser
Cards provide a PCI to PCI bridge chip that isolates the three additional slots
from the host PCI bus. Non-bridged riser cards can present unacceptable PCI
bus loading due to long stubs.
The IntraServer Riser Cards will operate in any PCI slot, 32 or 64 bit, 33 MHz
or 66 MHz, 3.3V or 5V signaling. The ITI-2135 and ITI-2147 are functionally
identical, but dimensionally the ITI-2147 is 0.3” shorter than the ITI-2135. See
Table 5 for the dimensional specifications of each card.

Power and Dimensional Specifications
In order to operate the ITI-2135 or ITI-2147 Riser Card in your system, you
must have an available PCI slot for the card.

Note: (1) All Riser Cards have universal fingers and can plug into
either a 3V or 5V signaling backplane. All cards will operate in 32 or
64 bit slots and 33 MHz or 66 MHz primary bus slots.
(2) Signaling environments cannot be mixed; all components on a
given PCI bus must use the same signaling convention of 5V or 3.3V.

Installing the ITI-2135 and ITI-2147
PCI Bridged Riser Cards
This chapter describes how to install the ITI-2135 and ITI-2147 Riser Cards in
your PCI based bus master compatible computer.
The ITI-2135 and ITI-2147 Risers are Plug and Play on the host system’s PCI
bus, and no configuration of the riser hardware is necessary.
System Requirements
Before you begin the installation procedure, you will need:
•AN AVAILABLE PCI BUS MASTER EXPANSION SLOT
THAT SUPPLIES 3.3V DC AS REQUIRED BY THE PCI
LOCAL BUS SPECIFICATION OR YOU MAY DAMAGE THE
CARD AS THE PCI TO PCI BRIDGE CHIP OPERATES ON
3.3V. NOTE: LOW COST MOTHERBOARDS DO NOT
SUPPLY 3.3V. Running an IntraServer Technology Riser Card in a
non-compliant system voids all Riser Card warranties.
•A system that is compatible with the PCI Specification, Version 2.1
•All Riser Cards will operate in either 32 bit PCI slots (example: Sun
Ultra AXi) or 64 bit PCI slots (example Sun AXMP).
Installing the Riser Cards
Riser Card mounting is OEM system specific. The following are general
guidelines for installing the cards.
1. Turn OFF the power to the computer system and to all peripherals
directly connected to the system (monitor, printer, external SCSI
enclosures, etc.).
2. Unplug the system from the AC power line.
3. Use an anti-static strap or precautions to avoid static discharge to
your computer system or the ITI-2135 or ITI-2147 Riser Card.
4. Remove the access cover from your system (refer to the system’s
documentation).

10
5. Locate a free PCI expansion slot (small white connector on the
system’s motherboard) and remove the screw(s) and metal
bracket(s) for the slot(s) to be filled by cards installed into the
Riser Card. Be certain not to install the riser in an ISA or EISA
slot.
6. Install the Riser Card in the selected slot. The card should fit
without forcing. Be certain that the riser card is fully seated in the
slot.
7. If system configuration allows, secure Riser Card by installing
screws through four (4) corner holes.
8. Install PCI compatible card into slot 0, 1 or 2. Proceed filling
slots as necessary.
9. Replace the retaining screw(s) removed in step 5.
10. After installation, re-assemble the system enclosure, and proceed
with Software installation.
