Troubleshooting

1. Determine if the fans are running; if not, test the

ac power outlet.

2. Remove and reattach all cables. Check all cables,

connectors, and ports for damage.

3. Verify that conﬁguration settings are correct.

4. Verify that the power-on self test (POST) runs

correctly.

Using the Terminal Interface

To conﬁgure the switch, connect a null-modem

cable to the COM port of your PC and to the EIA

232 port of the switch. Use a VT-100 terminal

emulation program to conﬁgure your PC COM port

as follows:

v19200 baud

v8 data bits

v1 stop bit

vNo parity

vHardware ﬂow control: Off

vVT-100 emulation

vThe ASCII terminal’s communications port

number that connects the switch

On the Logon panel, enter the user name and

password.

Note: The default Read/Write User Name is: admin

The default password is blank (no password).

On the Main Menu:

vTab and Arrow keys—navigate through the menu

vEnter—selects menu item

vF1 or Help—displays keyboard commands

vF2–toggles between menu text and Command

Bar.

vF3 or PREV MENU—returns to the previous

display

vF4–saves changes.

Conﬁguring IP Information

1. Ensure a PC is setup and connected to the

switch as described in ″Using the Terminal

Interface″.

2. Log in to the terminal interface. The user name

must have read/write status. The default user

name is: admin and the password is blank (no

password).

3. From the Main Menu, select the Management

Menu, and then select the Network

Connectivity Conﬁguration Menu.

4. Enter values for the following IP parameters

(provided by your network administrator):

vIP Address.............[ ]

vDefault Gateway.....[ ]

vSubnet Mask..........[ ]

5. Select APPLY. Return to the Main Menu and

select LOGOUT.

6. Power off the switch by disconnecting the

switch power cord at the power source, waiting

about 15 seconds, and reconnecting the power

cord to the power source.

The switch is conﬁgured with its IP information

and can be accessed remotely in your network.

7. Power off the PC and disconnect the null

modem cable from the switch.

Conﬁguring Using Your Web Browser

You can use the Internet to conﬁgure the 8275-416

by:

1. Entering the IP address of the 8275-416 in the

address ﬁeld of your Web browser and pressing

Enter.

2. Logging in using your user name and password,

and pressing Enter.

Note: The default Read/Write User Name is:

admin. The default password is blanks

(no password).

3. Clicking on items in the Navigation Tree causes

the corresponding menu screen to appear.
