1. Before installation, read the user manual carefully to get familiar with product information and
safety precautions.
2. Use insulated tools when installing the equipment.
3. Only engineers certified by Huawei or its agent are allowed to install, commission, and maintain
the UPS. Otherwise, personal injury or equipment damage may occur, and the resulting UPS
faults are beyond the warranty scope of Huawei.
2
Installation Process
2(Optional) Installing the Top Outlet Kit
1. Remove the top cover from the UPS cabinet, and secure the top outlet kit using four M5 x 10
tapping screws.
2. Remove the rear cover from the UPS cabinet.
3. Connect the power cable and signal cable to the top outlet kit.
Connect the signal cable to the J33 terminal on the parallel board, and connect the power cable
to the W and N bars.
3
4. After cables have been connected, turn the fan switch to ON, and install the fan cover
on the top of the cabinet using four M5x10 tapping screws.
5. Install the rear baffle plate on the rear cover of the cabinet, and then install the rear cover on the
cabinet.
4
3Installing the UPS
1. Determine the mounting holes based on
the marking-off template, drill holes, and
install expansion sleeves.
3. Remove the rear cover from the cabinet,
open the cabinet front door, and remove
the four rubber plugs from the bottom of
the cabinet.
5. Reinstall the rear cover for the cabinet.
2. Adjust the anchor bolts and ensure that the
anchor bolts touch the floor. Then level the
UPS.
4. Secure the UPS.
5
4Connecting Cables
•Prepare cables away from the cabinets to prevent scraps from falling inside. Cable scraps may
ignite and cause personal injury or device damage.
•After cables have been installed, clean the cabinets in a timely manner. Keep the cabinets and
surrounding environment clean and tidy.
•You need to prepare terminals onsite. The stripped length of the copper wire should be the
same as that of the part of the terminal that covers the conductor.
UPS Cable Connection Reference
4.1
The cabling route is for reference only. Connect cables based on site requirements.
NOTE
Installing Cables
4.2
Scenario 1: Routing Cables from the Top
1. Remove filler panels from the power
distribution subrack, and remove covers
from the top of the cabinet based on the site
requirements.
2. (Skip this step if the mains input and bypass
input share a power source.) Remove the
copper bars between the mains input and
bypass input.
6
3. Connect the ground cable, power cable, and signal cable. There is no need to connect the
bypass input power cable if the mains input and bypass input share a power source.

Description Bolt
Specifications Torque
Mains input M10x30 26 N•m
Bypass input M10x30 26 N•m
Battery input M12x35 46 N•m
Output M10x30 26 N•m
PE M10x30 26 N•m
NOTE
The wire routed from the middle point of positive
and negative battery strings is the neutral wire.
Take a battery string consisting of 40 batteries for
example. The battery neutral wire is routed from
the middle between positive and negative battery
strings, each consisting of 20 batteries.
7
Scenario 2: Routing Cables from the Bottom
1. Remove filler panels from the
front of the cabinet. 2. Switch the top covers and beam with the
bottom covers.
In bottom cable routing scenarios, a cable entry cabinet is required only if the cross-sectional
area of cables is greater than 150 mm2.
NOTE
8
3. Remove cable covers based on site requirements.
4. (Skip this step if the mains input and bypass input share a power source.) Remove the copper
bars between the mains input and bypass input.
5. Connect the ground cable, power cable, and signal cable. There is no need to connect the
bypass input power cable if the mains input and bypass input share a power source.

5Verifying the Installation
1. Check that there is no foreign matter at the top and bottom of the cabinet, copper bars, switches,
and the rear of modules.
2. After verifying the installation, reinstall all
the covers.
3. (Remove the paper protective film from the
sealing putty.) After routing cables and
verifying cable connections, seal the gap
between cables and the cabinet using
sealing putty.
Dustproof cover
4. Do not remove the dustproof cover before
power-on to prevent dust inside the UPS.
Sealing putty
Sealing putty must be used as a whole and
the gap can be sealed only from the top.

6Powering On and Starting the UPS
1. Before powering on the UPS, ensure that the UPS has passed all check items in the UPS5000
Commissioning and Acceptance Report and Chapter 5.
2. Measure the voltage and frequency of the UPS upstream input switch. The line voltage range is
138–485 V AC, and the frequency range is 40–70 Hz.
Powering On the UPS
6.1
Close the upstream input switch.
Close the UPS bypass input switch, output switch, and mains input switch.
After the UPS is powered on, initialization begins. The MDU displays the Huawei logo and an
initialization progress bar.
