your new Gardenline®chainsaw. Take special care to heed the Cautions and
Warnings.
Your Gardenline®chainsaw has many features that will make your job faster and
easier. Safety, performance, and dependability have been given top priority in the
development of this chainsaw, making it easy to maintain and operate.
Environmental protection
Recycle unwanted materials instead of disposing of them as waste.
All tools, hoses and packaging should be sorted, taken to the local
recycling centre and disposed of in an environmentally safe way.

Great care has gone into the manufacture of this product and it should
therefore provide you with years of good service when used properly.
In the event of product failure within its intended use over the
course of the first 3 years after the date of purchase, we will remedy
the problem as quickly as possible once it has been brought to our

Description of symbols

information about the product or instructions on its use.

Use at a distance of at least 10m from other people.
Explosive material.
Extremely hot surface. Do not touch a hot muffler, gear box or cylinder, you
may get burned. These parts get extremely hot from operation and remain
hot for a short time after the unit is turned off.
WARNING! Danger of kickback.
Do not operate unit in the rain.
Do not attempt to hold saw with one hand.
Do not use the point of the bar.
Hold saw properly with both hands.

tool, battery-operated (cordless) power tool, or petrol operated power tool.
Save these instructions
Work area
• Keepworkareacleanandwelllit.Clutteredanddarkareasinviteaccidents.
• Donotoperatepowertoolsinexplosiveatmospheres,suchasinthepresenceof
flammable liquids, gases, or dust. Power tools create sparks which may ignite the
dust or fumes.
• Keepchildrenandbystandersawaywhileoperatingapowertool.Distractions
can cause you to lose control.
Personal safety
• Stayalert,watchwhatyouaredoingandusecommonsensewhenoperatinga
power tool. Do not use a power tool while you are tired or under the influence
of drugs, alcohol, or medication. A moment of inattention while operating power
tools may result in serious personal injury.
• Usesafetyequipment.Alwaysweareyeprotection.Safetyequipmentsuchas
a dust mask, non-skid safety shoes, hard hat, or hearing protection used for
appropriate conditions will reduce personal injuries.
• Removeanyadjustingkeyorwrenchbeforeturningthetoolon.Awrenchor
a key that is left attached to a rotating part of the power tool may result in
personal injury.
• Donotoverreach.Keepproperfootingandbalanceatalltimes.Thisenables
better control of the power tool in unexpected situations.
• Dressproperly.Donotwearlooseclothingorjewellery.Keepyourhair,clothing
and gloves away from moving parts. Loose clothes, jewellery or long hair can be
caught in moving parts.
• Ifdevicesareprovidedfortheconnectionofdustextractionandcollection
facilities ensure that these are connected and properly used. Use of these devices
can reduce dust-related hazards.

Power tool use and care
• Donotforcethepowertool.Usethecorrectpowertoolforyourapplication.
The correct power tool will do the job better and safer at the rate for which it was
designed.
•Donotusethepowertooliftheswitchdoesnotturnitonandoff.Anypowertool
that cannot be controlled with the switch is dangerous and must be repaired.
• Turntooloffcompletelybeforemakinganyadjustments,changingaccessories,or
storing power tools. Such preventive safety measures reduce the risk of starting
the power tool accidentally.
• Storeidlepowertoolsoutofthereachofchildrenanddonotallowpersons
unfamiliar with the power tool or these instructions to operate the power tool.
Power tools are dangerous in the hands of untrained users.
• Maintainpowertools.Checkformisalignmentorbindingofmovingparts,
breakage of parts and any other condition that may affect the power tool’s
operation. If damaged, have the power tool repaired before use. Many accidents
are caused by poorly maintained power tools.
• Keepcuttingtoolssharpandclean.Properlymaintainedcuttingtoolswithsharp
cutting edges are less likely to bind and are easier to control.
• Usethepowertool,accessoriesandtoolbitsetc.,inaccordancewiththese
instructions and in the manner intended for the particular type of power tool, taking
into account the working conditions and the work to be performed. Use of the power
tool for operations different from intended could result in a hazardous situation.
Service
• Haveyourpowertoolservicedbyaqualiedrepairpersonnelusingonlyidentical
replacement parts. This will ensure that the safety of the power tool is maintained.

Additional safety rules for petrol chainsaws
Note. For safety reasons the chainsaw is shipped with the chain brake fully
engaged. This brake must be released before the saw becomes operational.
•Nevercutintotheground.
•Nevercutintowirefences.
•Nevercutintosaplings.
•Nevercutintopreparedwood.
•Usethechainsawtocutonlywood.
•Itisadvisabletoprovideasupportforthechainsawwhencuttingbranches.
Do not cut using the bar point and beware of branches under tension.
•Childrenunder18mustnotusechainsaws.
•Keeppeopleawayfromthechainsawwheninuse.
•Checkthefollowingconditionsbeforebeginningwork:
– There should be no people in the felling area.
– Make sure there is a second person within calling distance.
– The working area should be free from obstacles.
•Wearsuitableclotheswhichdonothindermovement.
•Usespecicprotectionduringoperationsinvolvinghead,hands,feet,
eyes and ears.
•Itisrecommendedtheuseofahelmetwithavisorduringfelling,branchcutting
and chopping operations.
•Weargloveswithanexternalprotectionwhenusingthechainsaw.
•Useearprotectiontopreventhearinginjuries.
•Wearsafetybootswhenusingthechainsaw.
•Duringtransportthebrakemustbeappliedtoavoidaccidentalstart-up.
•Donotusethechainsawinrainyorwindyconditionsorinpoorlight.
•Findasuitablepositionbeforebeginningwork.

•Whenworkingonslopes,thesawoperatormuststandbesideorabovethe
wood to cut, i.e. felled trees.
•Usethechainsawholdingitrmlywithbothhands.
•Makeawedge-shapedcutbeforefellingthetree,thenthefellingcutleavinga
hinge for the felling direction.
•Bewareofanyfallingbranchesafterfellingoperations.
•Bewareofwoodsplinterswhencuttingchoppedwood.
•Ensureyourchainsawissuitableforthejob.
•Neverworkaboveshoulderlevelorreachouttocutabranch:ensureyouhave
stable footing at all times.
•Donotoperateinahazardouslocation.Suchareasincludewherethereisarisk
of explosion of petrol fumes, leaking gas or explosive dust.
•Donotoperateinaconnedarea.Exhaustgases,smokeorfumescouldreach
dangerous concentrations.
•Protectyourtool.ThischainsawisNOTWEATHERPROOFandshouldnotbe
exposed to direct sunlight, high ambient temperature and damp, wet or high
humidity conditions.
•Takecarenottospillfuel.Whenrefuellingthechainsawensurethatthemotor
has been switched off. Prevent the spilling of fuel as this may also ignite with
the hot motor. Never refuel whilst the engine running.
•Becarefulwhereyoustorethechainsaw.Storethetoolinadryareaawayfrom
flammable liquids.
•Keepyourdistance.Thechainsawemitsexhaustfumes.Ensurebystanderskeep
a safe distance.
•Operatinginstructionsandinstructionsforcommoncuttingtasks,includingthe
use of personal protection equipment, the need for adequate training and the
risks involved when operating the unit while tired, ill or under the influence of
alcohol or other drugs.
Note. Tree felling should not be attempted by un-trained operators.

•Ensureyouuseoil-mixfuel.Ensurethatyoumix25partsunleadedfuelto1part
2-stroke oil. If not, the engine will overheat and cause damage to your chainsaw.
•Neverllfueltankindoors.Neverllfueltankwhenengineisrunningorhot.Do
not smoke when filling fuel tank.
Kickback safety precautions
•Kickbackmayoccurwhenthetipoftheguidebartouchesanobject,orwhenthe
wood closes in and pinches the saw chain.
•Ifthebartiporpointcontacts,itcanproducearapidreversereaction,kickingthe
guide bar up and back towards the operator. This is known as rotational kickback.
•Pinchingthesawchainalongthetopoftheguidebarmaypushtheguidebar
rapidly back towards the operator. This is known as pinch kickback.
•Eitherofthesereactionscancauselossofcontrolofthesaw,resultinginserious
personal injury.
•Donotrelyexclusivelyonthesafetydevicesbuiltintoyoursaw.Takethe
following steps to help avoid accident or injury:
•Reducetheelementofsurprisebyunderstandingwhatcauseskickback.
•Keeparmgriponthechainsawusingbothhands,therighthandontherear
handle and the left hand on the front handle when the motor is running. A firm
grip will help maintain control. Do not let go whilst the motor is running.
•Makesurethattheareaofoperationisfreeofobstructions.Donotletthepoint
of the guide bar contact a log, branch or any other object.
•Usehighspeedswhencutting.
•Donotoverreachorcutaboveshoulderheight.
•Carefullyfollowthesharpeningandmaintenanceinstructionsgiveninthis
manual.
•Useonlyreplacementbarsandchainsspeciedbythemanufacturer.
