FCC notice When installed in an Exabyte enclosure, the tabletop model of the

Exabyte Mammoth-LT tape drive has been tested and found to

comply with the limits for a Class B digital device pursuant to Part

Congratulations on selecting the Exabyte®Mammoth-LT Tape

Drive. Your tape drive is a high-speed, high-capacity tape drive

designed to meet the growing demands for data storage in such

areas as enterprise-wide networks, data acquisition, image

processing, video-on-demand, and multimedia.

The tape drive transfers data at a rate of up to 4 megabytes per

secondwith2:1compression,andcanstoreupto28gigabytes(GB)

of compressed data on a single data cartridge. The tape drive uses

advanced metalevaporated (AME)tape, which providesagreater

capacity than the metal particle (MP) tape used with previous

generations of Exabyte products.

The Mammoth-LTtape drive is available as an internalmodelthat

can be installed into an enclosure (shown on the right) or as a

tabletop model housed in its own enclosure (shown on the left).

Available SCSI configurations

The Mammoth-LT tape drive is available in narrow,

singled-ended and wide, low-voltage differential (LVD) fast

SCSI-2 configurations.

The LVDtape driveusesan LVDinterface that isUltraandUltra2

SCSI compatible. The LVD interface allows the tape drive to be

placed on the same bus as Ultra and Ultra2 SCSI devices without

slowing the performance of these devices.

If you have the internal model of the Mammoth-LT tape drive,

follow the instructions below. If you have the Mammoth-LT

tabletop model, follow the instructions beginning on page 13.

Installing the internal model in an enclosure

ESD protection

Protect the tape drive from electrostatic discharge (ESD) by

following these precautions:

Use an antistatic mat and wristband, if possible.

Leave the tape drive in its packaging until you are ready to

install it.

Touch a known grounded surface before handling the tape

drive.

Do not place the tape drive on a metallic surface.
