DISCRIMINATOR
Pulse Induction Metal Detector
SDP-2014A

INTRODUCTION
Congratulations on your choice of the DISCRIMINATOR. This
Automatic Full Discriminator is a new generation of pulse
in uction metal etecting instruments.
It is use for locating larger an smaller (3” to 4” [10cm x 12cm])
size targets at greater epths compare to any other conventional
metal etector. The pulse in uction system is evelope to
automatically retune, so that changes in the groun mineralization
an unwante ferrous metal targets are eliminate . The SDP series
Discriminator is a unique combination of technologies that takes
a vantage from other pulse in uction etector technologies to
create an easy to use balance system.
The DISCRIMINATOR works at great epths an ranges by
smooth an stable operation from the control unit in automatic
motion mo e. Target i entification an iscrimination is possible
with the 1m x 1m square PVC coil. Pinpointing is achieve with
the smaller 11” roun shaft-mounte coil.
Ho does the SDP Automatic Discriminator ork ?
The search coil sen s out short magnetic pulses an pro uces a
strong magnetic fiel above the groun . The magnetic fiel
in uces e y currents in the metal objects to be etecte . These
currents generate a secon ary electromagnetic fiel , which flows
outwar from the target. A portion of this secon ary fiel passes
through the antenna win ing. This signal is processe by the
electronics an isplaye by a ticking rate, meter response an
light in ication. The timely ecoupling between the transmitting
an receiving phases allows the SDP series to work with an
increase transmitting an receiving power.

The magnetometer sensor system senses the magnetism of ferrous
fiel s. When the in epen ent magnetometer sensor system senses
the fiel s it isplays a Re LED Light when a target is ferrous.
DISCRIMINATOR Controls
Control unit
1. Delay Control
a.Sets the Delay timing for various soil con itions.
2. Sensitivity Control
a. Sets the Sensitivity for the coil.
3 Interference Control
a. The ability to tune out backgroun interference cause by
electrical lines in the area.
4 Threshol Control
a. Use to groun balance the etector.
5 Mo e Selector
a. Ability to select between “A/D” (Automatic /
Discrimination), “SA” (Soun All), “A/ND” (Automatic / No
Discrimination).

6 Reset Button
a. Use to reset the threshol an re-balance instrument after
changes are ma e.
7 Signal Intensity Meter
a. In icates the intensity of the receive signal.
8 Ferrous Metal In icator Light
a. Illuminates (only on 1m x 1m coil) when the iscriminator
has etermine that the target is compose of ferrous metals.
DELAY-This knob changes elay in pulse in uction signal. Far
left position is for Beaches or Very light soil minerals (signal
bounces back to control unit fast with small elay). Set switch top
center position for stan ar or general operating con itions. Far
right position of knob to work in heavy mineral groun or VERY
eep an large targets (allows signal to reach epths an return to
unit…also mineral rea ings are more issipate ).
INTERFERENCE- Setting for electromagnetic isturbances (i.e.
Power Lines).
DISCRIMINATION SWITCH- This control switch changes
how a “ferrous” metal target is rea an escribe by control unit
etail. Top position “A/D” is to give a RED le lamp in ication
when “ferrous” metal target is receive , along with a removal of
target signal soun when picke up. Switch position center “SA”
is Semi- iscrimination mo e for smaller “ferrous” metal target
trash. Smaller “ferrous” metal targets will show RED lamp
in ication an cut off signal soun ( iscrimination).
Bottom switch position “A/ND” is Automatic iscrimination with
NO au io iscrimination (soun is still hear ) an RED le lamp
is in icate for “ferrous” metal targets.
- 3 -

INTENSITY METER -Shows target intensity as getting closer to
metal an also in icates battery life when unit is first turne on.
Battery is goo if in the “battery goo ” level. Charge otherwise.
ON-OFF/SENS- knob to turn control unit on, show battery
voltage when turne on, an change how sensitive the coil is to
metal targets. Far left position is for very large or near surface
targets. BLACK DOT on control unit label is for stan ar
etection setting. Far right position is for the highest sensitivity to
targets. Setting too high will receive all nearby metal targets. Turn
own knob if unit is active too often.
TRESH-Is threshol or beginning of etection au io (soun ). Set
Threshol to give one or two “ticks” per secon .
RESET- Button to reset control unit in new groun con itions.
Depressing button one or more times is nee e in each new target
area or if any other settings are change . Pressing reset over metal
will ignore similar metal targets. The machine nee s to be reset
over a clear area (not on targets), not inclu ing minerals in
groun .
LED INDICATOR -The re LED light on the intensity meter
in icates that the target within the etection range of the coil is
ferrous. Remember, that after each change of the Delay or
Sensitivity control’s setting, you shoul wait for the fa ing of the
le in icator to continue your search.
REAR PANEL OF CONTROL BOX
Built-in lou speaker - For au ible target in ication
- 4 -

Phones -An outlet for any type of hea phones with a .” mono-
jack.
Safety Fuse – SDP is protecte against fee back.
12V DC -Female plug that a apts male en with center positive
for external 12 Volt rechargeable battery pack.
To charge battery, remove from Velcro strapping on back of
control unit case. Plug rectangular male plug from charger into
matching female plug on battery. Location is opposite si e of
black control unit battery plug. Do not alter battery plug or charger
en .
Coil -Connector for search coil. Lightly screw own in a
clockwise irection.
DISCRIMINATION
The DISCRIMINATOR Pulse In uction Metal Detector is
actually a Dual Detector.
Not only is it equippe with Pulse In uction it also has a built in
Magnetometer sensor system to iscriminate out what targets are
ferrous. The Magnetometer sensor system shows Iron (ferrous)
targets in icate by a bright
Re LED light. By having this a itional etector it allows the
user to eci e if the foun target is one of interest to recover.
STANDART DISCRIMINATION SEARCH
(1m x 1m Coil)
The loop cable is embe e in PVC tubes an can be assemble

for use or ismantle for transportation easily an quickly. The
concentrate magnetic fiel of the coil allows an excellent
etection range on relatively small metal objects.
Targets the size of a cash box are clearly etecte from a istances
of 7-8 feet.
Larger Targets like a large metal treasure chest can be etecte at
a range of up to 15 feet or more epen ing on soil con itions. Our
practical tests have proven this universal search coil as the best
one for treasure hunting with the SDP Series.
AUTOMATIC MODE
(1m x 1m Coil)
The etector retunes automatically to the changes of the groun
con itions (mineralization). Keeping constant operational height
an all the slowly changing external electromagnetic fiel s are not
critical for the stable performance of the SDP pulse in uction
system.
REMINDER: Automatic Mo e is motion etection. The search
coil nee s be move completely through the target area.
DETECTION RANGE
Theoretically the etection range increases with the increase
target’s size, time in groun , until the size of the etecte object is
ouble the surface of the search coil. Smaller coils of
approximately 11” iameter have a specific range of objects,
which are etecte well. Continuous wave etector’s sensitivity is
better on small metal targets. Such coils an etectors have
- 6 -

reache their limits with a etection range of approximately 1
meter. Enormously large amounts of metal woul be necessary to
increase their etection range over these limits. The search coil of
the pulse in uction etectors coul be increase to almost any
size, so that a large long ranging magnetic fiel woul be built up.
The SDP series works using a magnetic fiel cause by short
pulses. The large search coil an the low frequency applie make
it capable of penetrating eep into the groun .
An important isa vantage of the other pulse in uction etectors
is that they are not capable of i entifying whether the target is a
ferrous or non-ferrous metal object. It is known that some of the
latest pulse in uction etectors on the market are a vertise to
have this capability. But for the reliable target i entification these
etectors loose about 40% of their etection epth, an often
register the eep nonferrous targets as being ferrous, which is
absolutely unacceptable for the serious treasure hunter. The
systems operation is strongly influence by the size of the metal
target an it’s aging (oxi ation) in the groun . With the SDP
series Automatic Full Discriminator we have trie to avoi all
these isa vantages of the pulse in uction systems for treasure
hunting.
The DISCRIMINATOR with the 1m x 1m coil iscriminates
(currently only square size coils that iscriminates) the unwante
ferrous objects no matter their size an aging in the groun in
almost all cases. When operate in its iscrimination mo e the
etector oesn’t loose its etection epth an oes not make the
mistake to count a non-ferrous target as an unwante ferrous
metal. This unit is very operative an gives a great choice of non-
iscriminating an iscriminating mo es of operation.
The SDP pulse in uction principle offers many other a vantages:
- 7 -

. Large etection range an extreme epth of etection
. Small objects like bottle caps, pull tabs, pieces of aluminum are
rejecte
. The evice can be operate effectively in highly mineralize soil
areas, beaches, fresh an salt waters.
. High quality components are use an all critical parts of the
circuit are esigne to align themselves to signal rift ue to
changing temperatures
. The hot rocks are categorically ignore
. SDP is a professional eep treasure-hunting instrument with its
incre ible epth etecting capabilities.
. The unique automatic motion mo e of operations makes it user-
frien ly even for the beginners
. The evice is the only metal etector that iscriminates unwante
ferrous targets in the arable layer of the groun with no loss of
epth parameters
