Thank you for purchasing the CONTEC PC-ESD-A Series. This product is a silicon disk drive
interchangeable with a 2.5-inch IDE hard disks. Please use this product in accordance with the
procedures described in this document.

Disposal
When disposing of the product, follow the disposal procedures stipulated under the relevant laws and
municipal ordinances.
Features
- Containing no rotating or moving part as in hard disk drives, thus best suited for applications which require high
environmental resistance (to temperature, humidity, vibration, shock) and for continuous operation for extended
periods of time.
- Never making any sound such as motor rotation sound or access noise during seeking, thus best suited for
applications which require complete silence.
- Lower in power consumption than hard disk drives
- The product comes with a protective function that minimizes disk failures during an instantaneous stop. *1
*1 This function is not designed to protect files (or data) written onto the disk.

Limited One-Year Warranty
CONTEC Products are warranted by CONTEC CO., LTD to be free from defects in material and workmanship for up to one year from the
date of purchase by the original purchaser. Repair will be free of charge only when this device is returned freight prepaid with a copy of
the original invoice and a Return Merchandise Authorization to the distributor or the CONTEC group office, from which it was purchased.

This warranty is not applicable for scratches or normal wear, but only for the electronic circuitry and original boards. The warranty is
not applicable if the device has been tampered with or damaged through abuse, mistreatment, neglect, or unreasonable use, or if the
original invoice is not included, in which case repairs will be considered beyond the warranty policy.

*1 It becomes a permissible frequency when rewriting of 128KB or less is generated with there no free space.
It is not permissible frequency of “Memory unit”. It is different of actual rewriting longevity depending
on the state of operation and the size of the rewriting file.

About write endurance
PC-ESD series have a write endurance which limits the number of times each memory may be written,
due to the characteristic of the memory that is used. A write endurance can be calculated by the
following formula as a reference value: As for the rewriting average life span in the real file, it is time when it
is not in case of occasion for there is a free space in this product and the computational method is different.

How to Obtain Service
For replacement or repair, return the device freight prepaid, with a copy of the original invoice. Please obtain a
Return Merchandise Authorization Number (RMA) from the CONTEC group office where you purchased before
returning any product.
* No product will be accepted by CONTEC group without the RMA number.
Liability
The obligation of the warrantor is solely to repair or replace the product. In no event will the warrantor be liable for
any incidental or consequential damages due to such defect or consequences that arise from inexperienced usage,
misuse, or malfunction of this device.

- Do not modify the product. Doing so may cause fire, electric shock.
- If smoke or abnormal odor is detected, immediately turn off the PC and peripheral devices and unplug the power
cables.
- Never touch this product with wet hands. Doing so can short-circuit the product to cause fire, electric shock,
and/or failure.
CAUTION
- Use only the mounting screws (M3 x 6) provided with the product. Longer screws may damage the interior of
the product.
- This product is the silicon disk drives for PC/AT compatible (DOS/V compliant) IDE hard disk.
- No part of this document may be copied or reproduced in any form by any means without prior written consent of
CONTEC CO., LTD.

- The silicon disk is limited in the number of times they can be written (rewritten) to due to the nature of its
memory used. Note that the write life depends on the actual operating conditions.
- Do not turn off the power during disk access (writing). Doing so may break the data.
- The product comes with a protective function that prevents the disk from damaging during an instantaneous stop
but this function is not designed to protect data written onto the disk. When protecting data, use it under the
condition which has no instantaneously stops.
- This product is not formatted. Please be sure to format before use.
