1 OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

The operating instructions contain important safety
information.
Failuretoobservetheseinstructionsmayresultinhazardous

Intended use
2 INTENDED USE
Unauthorised use of the Type2301 globe control valve
may be dangerous to people, nearby equipment and the
environment.
▶Thedeviceisdesignedtocontroltheowofliquidandgas-
eous media. It can only be operated in combination with a
corresponding control unit.
▶In potentially explosive environments, the Type 2301 globe
controlvalvemustonlybeusedinaccordancewiththespec-
icationsontheseparateEx-typelabel.Theadditionalinfor-
mationandsafetyinstructionsrelatingtoExareasenclosed
withthedevicemustbeadheredtowhendeployingthedevice.
▶DeviceswithoutaseparateExtypelabelmustnotbeusedin
thepotentiallyexplosiveatmosphere.
▶Tousethedevice,observethepermitteddata,operating
conditionsandapplicationconditions.Thesespecications
canbefoundinthecontractdocuments,theoperating
instructionsandonthetypelabel.
▶Protectdevicefromharmfulenvironmentalinuences(radiation,
airhumidity,fumes,etc.).Foranymattersrequiringclarication,
contacttherelevantsalesdepartment.
▶Prerequisitesforsafeandtrouble-freeoperationarecorrect
transportation,correctstorage,installation,start-up,opera-
tionandmaintenance.
▶Usethedeviceonlyinconjunctionwiththird-partydevicesand
componentsrecommendedorapprovedbyBürkert.

3 BASIC SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
Thesesafetyinstructionsdonottakeintoaccountanyunforeseen
circumstancesandeventswhichoccurduringinstallation,oper-
ationandmaintenance.Theoperatorisresponsibleforobserving
the location-specic safety regulations, also with reference to
personnel.

Risk of injury due to high pressure and escaping medium.
▶Beforeworkingonthesystemordevice,switchothepres-
sureandventoremptythelines.
Risk of injury due to electric shock (with installed electrical
components).
▶Beforeworkingonthedeviceorsystem,switchothe
power supply. Secure against reactivation.
▶Observetheapplicableaccidentpreventionandsafetyregu-
lationsforelectricaldevices.
WARNING!
Risk of injury when opening the actuator.
Theactuatorcontainsaspringundertension.Whentheactuatoris
opened,thespringwilljumpoutandmaycauseinjuries.

Risk of burns or re from hot device surfaces due to pro-
longed operation.
▶Onlytouchthedevicewhenwearingprotectivegloves.

Discharge of medium if packing gland exhibits wear
▶Reliefboremustberegularlyinspectedforanymediumleakages.
▶Ifthemediumishazardous,securetheareaaroundtheleakage
to prevent risks.

▶Onlytrainedtechniciansmayperforminstallationandmain-
tenance work.
▶Performinstallationworkandmaintenanceworkusingsuit-
able tools only.
▶Followinginterruptionoftheprocess,ensurethatthe
processisrestartedinacontrolledmanner.Observethe
sequence:
1.Applyelectricalorpneumaticsupply.
2.Chargewithmedium.
▶Use the device only when it is in perfect condition and in
accordancewiththeoperatinginstructions.
▶Forapplicationsplanningandoperationofthedevice,observe
theplant-specicsafetyregulations.
▶The plant owner is responsible for the safe operation and
handlingoftheplant.
▶Observethegeneralrulesoftechnology.
Pleaseobservethefollowinginordertoprotectagainst
damagetothedevice:
▶Feedonlythosemedialistedinchapter“7Technicaldata” into
themediumports.
▶Donotplacethevalveundermechanicalstress(e.g.byplacing
objectsonitorstandingonit).
▶Donotmakeanyexternalmodicationstothevalves.Donot
painthousingpartsorscrews.
▶Transport,installanddismantleaheavydeviceonlywiththeaid
ofasecondpersonandusingsuitableequipment.
▶Theexhaustaircanbecontaminatedbylubricantsinthe
actuator.

5.1 General description
The2/2-wayglobecontrolvalveType2301issuitable for liquid
andgaseousmedia.
Usingneutralgasesorair(controlmedia),itcontrolstheowof
water,alcohol,oil,fuel,hydraulicuid,saltsolution,lye,organic
solventsandvapour(owmedia).
TheType2301globecontrolvalvecanonlybeusedincombi-
nationwithacontrolunit.Possiblecontrolunitsare:

6.1 Structure
Theglobecontrolvalveconsistsofapneumaticallyoperated
pistonactuator,acontrolconeanda2/2-wayglobebody.
Thecontrolconeismodularlyconnectedtotheactuatorspindle
viaaspring-typestraightpin,andcanthusbequicklyreplaced.
Nearly all line connections are possible for the body. Bushing,
weldedconnectionandangeareoeredasthestandarddevice.
Thevalveseatsarescrewedin. Reducedseatsizesareeasyto
achievebyreplacingthescrewed-invalveseats.Theowdirection
isalwaysbelowthevalveseat.
