User Instruction Manual for the BOATASY GHOOK
INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
This instruction manual is an integral part of the Boatasy GHOOK. It should be stored in a safe place and kept in an easily accessible place
in the vicinity of the device. Before operating the Boatasy GHOOK or carrying out any maintenance operations, it is recommended that
users carefully read the information and warnings contained herein, which are required for the use of the device and its optional equipment
in the most correct and safe way.
WARNINGS
Use of the product comes at your own risk. Follow these general warnings and instructions to avoid accidents, damage to your boat or
vessel, personal injury or death. Alterations or misuse of this equipment or failure to follow these instructions could lead to the damaging
of your boat or vessel, personal injury or death. This product is designed to be used as device, which assist in the transfer of the lazy line
(mooring line) during mooring, berthing operations on your boat or vessel and may be used for these purposes only. Do not use it for any
other purposes. Children and young people under the age of 18 as well as pregnant women, people with mentally, sensory or physical
disabilities should not use this product. This equipment must be used by persons trained and competent in its correct application and
safe use. The Boatasy GHOOK is designed for manual use only. It is necessary to wear protective gloves during mooring and berthing
operations. It is recommended to have sailing footwear or other sailing clothes during berthing and mooring operations. Before beginning
use of the Boatasy GHOOK, remove all necklaces, bracelets, bands, ropes or any other items connected to your body or clothes in
order to avoid getting caught on the Boatasy GHOOK during use. Before usage, you should prepare and clean all items on the boat or
vessel deck, which could impede the smooth, safe usage of the Boatasy GHOOK. Use the Boatasy GHOOK only in windless areas and
under circumstances in which the boat is not moving or drifting. Use it only in cases of calm water (no waves), no currents or any other
questionable circumstances (bad weather, storm, etc.), which could inuence the boat or vessel and cause it to start moving or drifting.
It is prohibited to use the product during abnormal conditions on board a boat. Do not use it when forces on the lazy line (mooring line),
which pressurize the Boatasy GHOOK, exceed 12 kgs (about 120 N). Do not test and pressurize the Boatasy GHOOK with additional
weights. In the case that the lifting force exceeds 12 kgs (about 120 N), the product may break in 2 pieces causing the mooring line (lazy
line) to fall into the water and consequently delay the mooring operation, cause the drifting of the boat, collision, injuries, etc. Do not
use it when the width or diameter of the mooring line is lower than 5 mm or exceeds 6 cm (usually on a very overgrown mooring line).
Users should always be careful to check for thickness, shell or algae damage, etc. as well as obstacles on the mooring line (lazy line),
which could interfere with its normal functioning or transmission or even block it. The stoppages could cause the mooring or berthing
time to increase. The consequences of stoppages may include the drifting of the boat or vessel and consequential collisions, possible
damage, injuries and death. In case of stoppage of the Boatasy GHOOK connected to the lazy line (mooring line), the user should react
immediately and only when all circumstances are safe, should he immediately proceed with the transfer of the mooring line (lazy line) in the
traditional way (manually). It is important that the mooring and berthing operation is carried out safely, quickly and always in accordance
with boat’s captain. It is very important that checks be run, both before and during each use of the Boatasy GHOOK, to verify the safety
and appropriateness of the transfer of the mooring line (lazy line). Do not use it in the case of a corroded, sharp, unt mooring line (lazy
line), which could damage the device. Inspect the Boatasy GHOOK before each use. If the product is damaged, discontinue use! Failure
to perform inspection steps preceding each use of the Boatasy GHOOK and its supporting towing rope could lead to problems during the
berthing process, possibly resulting in serious injury and other accidents. A competent person must inspect their equipment frequently, at
least every 12 months and always before use. If damage is detected, please return the product to its manufacturer for repair or replacement.
Any attempt to modify or repair equipment by the user will void the warranty. The Boatasy GHOOK itself does not oat. The Boatasy
GHOOK can be connected to the rope extension only in suitable conditions, which the user should verify before each mooring and / or
berthing operation. The rope extension should be connected to the Boatasy GHOOK via the optional rope extension opening (see picture
nr.1, elem. 5). The rope extension standard length is 120 cm and its diameter is 6 mm. Only unsharp, clean and suitable ropes made of
resistant, non-expandable material (nylon or similar material) may be used. It is important to be very careful with boat maneuvers in case
the Boatasy GHOOK and rope extension falls into the water. The captain should always be careful and should avoid contact of the rope
extension with the boat’s rudder, keel, shaft or propeller in order to avoid it wrapping around them and consequently causing the stoppage
of the engine or other issues. It is very important that user not connect the Boatasy GHOOK or wrap rope extension connected to the
Boatasy GHOOK to his / her hand, arm or any other part of his /her body (see picture nr. 2)! During its use, the user should grip the Boatasy
GHOOK properly by the ergonomic handle only (see picture nr.6) or by extension rope (see picture nr.7). It is important not to insert hands
in the space between the ergonomic handle and plastic wheel (see picture 3a and 3b). Do not insert ngers into the latch (see picture nr.8).
The user must always have the option to remove the Boatasy GHOOK away from the lazy line (mooring line) if the forces caused by the
mooring line (lazy line) suddenly increase; consequently, such cases present the possibility for accidents, damage to your boat or vessel,
personal injury or death. Do not use the Boatasy GHOOK with the long rope extension going through the swivel. It is important that the
connection of the mooring rope (lazy line) into the Boatasy GHOOK is only carried out when the mooring line has no force upon it and is
in a place with no obstacles around it (see picture nr. 4). Disconnection of the Boatasy GHOOK from the mooring line (lazy line) should be
carried out with caution and in a place with no obstacles around it. Do not connect or disconnect it inside boat rails, inside or in the vicinity
of any obstacles (holders for bimini top, solar panels, wind turbines, etc.). Before each use, prepare the Boatasy GHOOK in such a way that
the safety latch is open. The connection or disconnection of the lazy line (mooring line) into or out of the Boatasy GHOOK should be done
carefully and quickly. Both hands should be used during the process of connecting or disconnecting the Boatasy GHOOK to or from the
lazy line (mooring line). One hand should grip the Boatasy GHOOK by its ergonomic handle correctly (nr.5) and the other hand should be
gripping the lazy line (mooring line) or standard removable hook connected to it by a distance of (min.) 20 cm from the the Boatasy GHOOK
in order to avoid possible injuries. The user must be careful to hold the Boatasy GHOOK properly and to not insert hands or body parts
into the GHOOK when it is in use or when the mooring line (lazy line) is inserted. In case of any accident during its usage, users should
immediately consult a doctor. Do not use the Boatasy GHOOK if you are in doubt on its correct use. If you are not certain about its usage,
contact the producer for more information.
