This chapter describes the key features
of ESC500. It includes the product
overview and general specications.
Chapter 1
Product introduction

Chapter 1: Product introduction1-2
1.1 Key features
The ESC500 supports up-to-date Intel®Xeon® E3-1200 and Core™ i3-2100 series
processors, Genuine Windows® 7 Professional, up to 32GB DDR3 ECC/non-ECC
memory and state-of-the-art I/O solutions. It is the best choice for a new generation
workstation system that performs unprecedented I/O throughput, high reliability
and super quietness working level for SOHO & SMB users.
Designed with Optimized Workstation Architecture
The ESC500 features Intel®Xeon® E3-1200 workstation processors and the
workstation-specic Intel® C206 chipset to boost extreme-output HD3000 integrated
graphics. It provides ultimate visualization and 3D modeling capabilities, with
dedicated support for professional applications like Adobe®Photoshop®, Autodesk
®AutoCAD®, Autodesk®Inventor®, UGS®Solid Edge®and more to experience
extreme graphics performance.
Ultimate Graphics Performance with NVIDIA®Quadro®GPUs
The ESC500 is specially designed to accommodate optimized professional
OpenGL performance. Benchmarking in SPECviewperf® 11 indicates the ESC500
design results in outstanding performance, so users in computer-aided design
(CAD), computer-aided engineering (CAE), digital content creation (DCC) and
geographic information systems (GIS) can make good use of the ample graphics
power the ESC500 supports.
Diverse CPU and Memory Types
The ESC500 supports 2nd generation Intel® Core™ i3 series desktop processors
and Intel®Xeon® E3-1200 series server/workstation CPUs. System builders can
also choose between robust server-grade DDR3 ECC unbuffered memory modules
and more mainstream and readily available DDR3 non-ECC unbuffered memory.
By supporting different processors and memory types, the ESC500 allows for a
wide range of workstation builds for every budget and need.
Built in Dual Intel®Server-class Gigabit LAN
For more reliable networking, the ESC500 features built-in dual Intel®server-class
Gigabit LAN connections. It uses lower CPU utilization, increasing throughput to
achieve outstanding performance as well as better support for diverse operating
systems. It also features teaming and fault tolerance functions provide doubled
bandwidth/network redundancy compared to standard Gigabit LANs. Intel® 82574L
chipsets are certied by VMware for native virtualization support. IPv6 readiness
resolves upcoming IPv4 address shortages even before they occur, hassle-free.
True USB 3.0 Support
Experience ultra-fast data transfers up to 4.8Gbps with USB 3.0—the latest
connectivity standard. Built to connect easily with next generation components
and peripherals, USB 3.0 transfers data up to 10X faster and is also backward
compatible with USB 2.0 components.

ASUS ESC500 1-3
True SATA 6Gb/s Support
Supporting next-generation Serial ATA (SATA) storage interface, this motherboard
delivers up to 6.0Gb/s data transfer rates. Additionally, get enhanced scalability
and faster data retrieval, double the bandwidth of current bus systems.
SAS Upgrade Kit for Multiple Storage Solution
The ESC500 supports four SATA3G and two native SATA6G HDDs to meet the
data storage demands of professionals. In addition, to make hardware upgrades
simpler and more convenient, the optional ASUS upgrade kits SASsaby 1064E
(supports LSI® Integrated RAID 0, 1, 1E) and SASsaby M (supports H/W RAID 0, 1,
10, 5) provide direct support for SAS storage and ensure reliable data protection.
Ultra-Quiet Working Environment
With ASUS unique fan control technology, the ESC500 is able to adjust fan speeds
intelligently and run Quad-core CPU systems at a very low acoustic level (24.5dBA
at idle mode), providing a super quiet working environment for customers, which
will facilitate SOHO & SMB users.
ExtremeSystemEnergyEfciency
Tap into the EPU, the world’s rst real-time PC power saving chip through a simple
onboard switch or the AI Suite II utility. Get total system-wide energy optimization
by automatically detecting current PC loadings and intelligently moderating power
consumption. This also reduces fan noise and extends component longevity!
High Quality Components for Great System Reliability
The ASUS 8-Phase CPU power and 2-Phase memory power design provides
support to 95W CPUs, reduces input ripple current and output ripple voltage, which
keeps CPUs and power modules from suffering the risk of high power stress.
Furthermore, high quality power components effectively lower system temperatures
to ensure longer component lifespan. The ESC500 utilizes all Japan-made 5000hr
ultra long life conductive polymer capacitors, which is sustainable up to 57 years.
80+ Bronze PSU for Energy Saving
With current trends leaning towards power efciency, the ESC500 is equipped
with 80+ Bronze PSU to reduce the power loss and power consumption, and save
power bills for users.
