Winterizing
Consult your dealer foradvice onwinterizing your
equipment iffreezingtemperaturesoccur inyour
locality. His knowledge ofyourequipmentmakeshim
the bestqualified sourceof information.Followhis
recommendations, and if theseincludedraining the
filtersystem,proceed asfollows:
1.If yoursystemdoesnotcontain afilter,proceedto
step2.
A. Forsand filters: BACKWASH for 3to5minutes
and set dialvalvetoWINTERIZE.
B.Forcartridgefilters:Clean the filterelementand
storein adryplace.
2.Drainsystembyloosening drainplugs(drain plugs
will drain withoutcompletelyremoving the plug from
unit) and/or removing pipecaps.
WaterChemistry
Aproperandconsistent useofchemicalsis
necessarytomaintainclean,sanitarywater, prevent a
spreadofgerminfection andcontrolthe growthof
algaewhichcan spoil the appearanceand enjoyment
of your pool or spa.
Chlorineisthemostcommonly used chemical to
provide clean,sanitarywater.Eitherdryor liquid
chlorine (calciumor sodiumhypochlorite) can beused
whichshouldbe addeddailyasitis dissipatedbydirt
and germsaswell asbe the sun andwind.
It is alsoimportantthatthecorrect level ofacidity
or alkalinityofthe poolwater bemaintained.Thisis
the pH of your pool withpH7.0being neutral.
Readingsabove7.0arealkaline and belowareacid.A
desirablerange is7.2 7.4.
Pump Maintenance
1. Motorsareself-lubricating no lubrication required.
2.Cleanhair&lintstrainerifyou haveastrainerbody
pump.
3. Visuallyinspectmotorforblockage of air ventson
motorshell. Removeanydebrisafter breakeroff.
4.Shaftseals maybecomewornand mustbe replaced
if leakage isobserved.
Cleaning
Switchpower off. Closevalvesinsuction and
returnline. Unscrewstrainer Ring-Lok
counterclockwise and removethe strainer cover from
hair and lintstrainerand lift out strainerbasket. Clean
and replacethe basket. Takecaretoseat basket
properly.Clean O-Ring andre-lubricatewithpetroleum
jellyifnecessary. CleanO-Ringseatson cover and
strainer. Refitcover and strainer hand tighten only
and open valves. Putpumpback intooperation.
Caution: Donot retighten strainer during operation.
