Mounting

Mounting must be carried out, as far as

possible, according to the drawing below.

The choice of the proper “by pass” alterna-

tive must be taken considering the following

points:

a. Can the main transport/feeding line be

put out of service during some hours

(corresponding to the requested time for

maintaining the MAIN VALVE), without

generating problem for the exploitation

of the system? In particular, it must be

considered that an empty system may

require several days to be vented

properly.

b. Has the downstream zone of the system

to be protected against any risk of

pressure surge (quick closing of heavy

demands, closing time of pressure redu-

cing valve)?

In order to get the best accuracy from the

pressure reducing valve operation, the

pre-set values for the reduced downstream

pressure should be included in the indicated

range of the pilot valves. If it is very near to

the extreme limits of replace the spring by

the correct one.

Operation

The pressure reducing valve PR500 is

controlled by a normally open diaphragm

actuated two ways, spring loaded, adjustable

pressure reducing control pilot, set to

maintain a constant outlet pressure from the

main valve.

The set point of the downstream reduced

pressure, which is sensed under the pilot

diaphragm, is adjustable within the indicated

spring range of the pilot.

As downstream pressure increases, the

diaphragm pushes against the spring,

allowing the pilot poppet loaded by an

auxiliary spring to be pulled towards its

closed position, ristricting the ﬂow through

the pilot. This allows the main valve to

modulate towards closing. In this way

the valve controls downstream pressure

increase carrying it back to adjusted values.

As downstream pressure decreases,

the control pilot throttles towards open,

modulating the main valve toward open.

Installation

• Valves DN 50 up to DN 150 can be

mounted horizontal and vertical. Valves

from DN 200 up to DN 600 should be

installed horizontally.

• Before installation of the regulating

valve (and respective strainer), it is

recommended to ﬂush the upstream line, in

order to clear it of sludge and other debris.

• It is better to install at the upstream and

downstream side of the valve a Watts

Butterﬂy valve to make maintenance easier.

Note: An efﬁcient ﬂushing should be

made with a ﬂuid velocity of at least

1,5 m/s during several hours.

• Install the valve so that the FLOW ARROW

marked on the valve body matches ﬂow

through the line.

Step 1.

On pressure reducing pilot, loose lock nut

and turn the setting screw counter-clockwise

(OUT), until the screw is practically

unloaded. This is the simulation of the

lowest setting value of the range, from which

the commissioner has to gradually increase

the pressure, up to the prescribed one.

Note: Do not set the pressure reducing

pilot (4) if the valve is pre-set by Watts

Industries.

Maintenance

It is recommended that a periodic

maintenance schedule be established to

inspect the valve stem for calcium or hard

water deposits and the condition of the

diaphragm, seat disc and control pilot. An

annual preventive maintenance schedule

should help identify problem situations

before emergency repairs are needed.

The normal replacement parts are the

diaphragm, seat disc and rubber parts of

the control pilot. The diaphragm and seat

disc are available together in a rubber

repair kit. Rubber repair kits for control

pilots are sold separately. For maximum

life expectancy, all rubber repair kits should

be stored in a cool, dry environment and

not exposed to direct sunlight. In the

event a non-rubber component part is

required, please consult your local Watts

representative.

Pressure Reducing Pilot 263 AP

Function

The control is a diaphragm actuated pres-

sure reducing valve, which is normally in

an open position due to the force of the

spring setting above the diaphragm. The

valve moves automatically toward the seat

(modulates) when the downstream pressure

exceeds the adjustable spring setting, thus

controlling the pressure to the desired set

point.

Start-up/Adjustment

Pressure adjustment is made by turning

the adjusting screw clockwise to increase

the pressure and the counter-clockwise to

decrease the setting.

Betriebs- und Wartungsanleitung

Druckminderventil PR500

Inbetriebsetzung

Um Regelventile kontrolliert in Betrieb zu setzen, ist die Einhaltung nachfolgender Schritte

zu beachten – mit jeweils ausreichenden Zeitabständen für die Reaktion des Ventils auf die

vorgenommenen Einstellveränderungen und für die Stabilisierung des Systems.

1. Am Steuerventil ist die Feder durch Lösen der Feststellmutter und drehen der

Einstellschraube gegen den Uhrzeigersinn zu entspannen.

2. Öffnen der Vordruckabsperrarmatur mit 1-3 Umdrehungen zum kontrollierten Füllen

des Druckminderventils. Dieses beginnt zu schließen. Entlüften des Hauptventils durch

Entlüftungshahn am Deckel.

3. Vollständiges Öffnen der Vordruck-Absperrarmatur. Dann teilweises Öffnen der

Niederdruck-Absperrarmatur zu Erzeugung eines Durchﬂusses. Die Einstellung des

gewünschten Niederdruckes am Steuerventil durch Drehen der Einstellschraube im

Uhrzeigersinn vornehmen. Kontrolle des Druckes am Niederdruckmanometer.

Einbau

Das Ventil ist vorzugsweise zwischen zwei

Absperrarmaturen und vordruckseitigem

Schmutzfänger einzubauen. Standardven-

tile für Einbau in horizontale Rohrleitung in

vertikaler Stellung.

Vor Einbau des Ventils (und des Schmutz-

fängers) ist die Rohrleitung ausreichend zu

spülen. Die durch den aufgegossenen Richt-

ungspfeil angegebene Durchﬂussrichtung ist

zu beachten. Für die Montage die Hebeösen

am Gehäuse benutzen. Das Ventil keines-

falls an der Verrohrung anheben. Vor- und

Niederdruck-Absperrarmatur schließen.

64. Nach Erreichen des gewünschten Niederdruckes kann die Niederdruck-Absperrarmatur

weiter geöffnet werden. Es wird empfohlen das Niederdrucknetz langsam zu füllen, um

eine Entlüftung des Netzes zu ermöglichen und Druckschläge zu vermeiden.

5. Sofern das Druckminderventil nur zur Einspeisung in ein Niederdrucknetz bei erhöhtem

Verbrauch eingesetzt wird und das Niederdrucknetz beim Einbau bereits gefüllt war (kein

Strömungsgeräusch im Steuerkreis) könnte der Ausgangsdruck über dem Einstelldruck

des Steuerventils liegen. In diesem Fall wird empfohlen, zwischen Druckminderventil und

Niederdruck Absperrarmatur einen Entlüftungshahn zu installieren, die Absperrarmatur

geschlossen zu halten und über den Hahn einen Durchﬂuss/Druckabfall zu erzeugen.

6. Zur Stabilisierung des Systems ausreichend Zeit nehmen. Dann kann das volle Öffnen der

Niederdruck-Absperrarmatur erfolgen.

7. Feineinstellung des Steuerventils:

Drehen im Uhrzeigersinn = Erhöhung des Niederdruckes

Drehen gegen Uhrzeigersinn = Reduzierung des Niederdruckes

Danach Feststellmutter anziehen.

Wartung

Die Einrichtung von regelmäßigen Wartungsintervallen wird empfohlen, um den Ventilschaft

nach Kalzium- oder Kalk – Ablagerungen, den Zustand der Membran, die Scheibe und die

Steuereinheit zu überprüfen.

Eine jährliche Vorsorgewartung hilft, Probleme zu erkennen bevor Notreparaturen notwendig

werden.

Gängige Ersatzteile sind die Membran, die Scheiben und die Gummiteile der Steuereinheit.

Die Membran und die Scheibe sind zusammen in einem Ersatzteilpaket erhältlich.

Gummiersatzteile der Steuereinheit sind als Paket separat verfügbar. Um eine maximale

Lebensdauer zu gewährleisten, sollten alle Gummiersatzteilpakete in einer kühlen und

trockenen Umgebung aufbewahrt und nicht direktem Sonnenlicht ausgesetzt werden.

Bei Bedarf von Ersatzteilpaketen wenden Sie sich bitte an den Watts Kundendienst in Ihrer

Nähe.

Werking

Het eigen mediumgestuurde drukreduceer-

toestel PR500 is een membraangestuurd

regeltoestel. Het toestel wordt bediend door

een instelbaar stuurventiel van het type

263 AP, dat voor een constante nadruk zorgt.

Via het instelpunt aan de stroomafwaartse

zijde, dat zich onder het membraan van het

stuurventiel bevindt, stelt u de druk in binnen

de range van de veer.

Zo kunt u de PR500 eenvoudig moduleren,

waardoor de stroomafwaartse druk altijd

automatisch de ingestelde waarde bereikt.

Als de stroomafwaartse druk boven de

ingestelde waarde komt, zal het diafragma

van het stuurventiel tegen de veer drukken

en sluiten. Als gevolg hiervan sluit de PR500

zich meer. Als de stroomafwaartse druk

onder de ingestelde waarde komt, zal de

PR500 zich automatisch meer openen.

Montage

Monteer de drukreduceerunit zoals in de

onderstaande tekening is weergegeven. Of u

hierbij met een ‘bypass’ werkt, bepaalt u op

basis van de volgende punten:

a. Kan het leidingnet enkele uren worden

afgesloten voor servicewerkzaamheden

(conform de gevraagde tijd voor hand-

haven van de PR500), zonder dat dit

problemen veroorzaakt voor de exploitatie

in het systeem? Houd er in de praktijk

rekening mee dat het bij een droogstaand

systeem enkele dagen kan duren, voordat

het systeem voldoende is ontlucht.

b. Is het stroomafwaarts beveiligd tegen

alle risico’s van drukverlies (bijvoorbeeld

snelsluiting, drukschommelingen, sluittijd

van de voordrukhandhaver/het overstort-

ventiel)?

Voor een optimale werking van de PR500

moet de ingestelde nadrukwaarde binnen

de range van het stuurventiel vallen. Als de

waarden dicht bij de uiterste grenzen liggen,

moet u de veer vervangen door een veer

met een nominale drukwaarde.

Installatie

• PR500 DN050 tot DN150 kunnen zowel

horizontaal als verticaal geïnstalleerd

worden. De DN200 t/m DN600 moet u

horizontaal monteren.

• Blaas voor het installeren van de PR500 de

aanvoerlijn door, in verband met eventuele

vervuiling.

• Wij raden u aan zowel aan de instroom-

als aan de uitstroomzijde een Watts

vlinderklep te installeren, in verband met

service- of reparatiewerkzaamheden.

Let op: een efﬁciënte doorstroming

bereikt u met een ﬂow van minimaal

1,5 m/s, gedurende enkele uren.

Zorg ervoor dat de pijl op het huis van het

toestel – die de stroomrichting aangeeft –

overeenkomt met de stroomrichting van de

installatie.

Stap 1

Draai de borgmoer op het stuurventiel (4) los

en draai de afstelschroef (tegen de klok in)

uit, totdat u geen weerstand meer voelt. Dit

is een simulatie van de laagste instelwaarde,

van waaruit de voorgeschreven druk

stapsgewijs moet worden gehaald.

Let op: Als de PR500 al is afgesteld door

Watts Industries, hoeft u de controle-unit

niet meer in te stellen.

Stap 2

Ontlucht het systeem door het ontluchtings-

kraantje, dat is gemonteerd op de positie-

indicator (5).

Onderhoud

Wij adviseren een periodiek onderhouds-

schema op te stellen. Aan de hand van

inspecties kunt u eventuele kalkaanslag

en hardwaterafzetting op de klepspindel

vaststellen. Tevens kunt u de conditie

van het membraan, de klepzitting en het

stuurventiel beoordelen. Met een periodiek

preventief onderhoudsschema herkent u

probleemsituaties, voordat ad-hocreparaties

noodzakelijk zijn.

Het membraan, de rubberen afdichtingring

van de klepzitting en de rubberen onder-

delen van het stuurventiel zijn aan

slijtage onderhevig. Het membraan en de

rubberen afdichtingring zijn verkrijgbaar in

een reparatieset. Reparatiesets voor het

stuurventiel zijn apart verkrijgbaar. Voor een

maximale levensduur van de rubberdelen,

adviseren wij opslag in een koele en

droge omgeving. Vermijd blootstelling van

rubberdelen aan zonlicht. Alle onderdelen

zijn vanzelfsprekend bij Watts Industries

Netherlands verkrijgbaar.

Drukreduceer stuurventiel 263 AP

Functie

• Het toestel is een membraangestuurd druk-

reduceerstuurventiel.

• Normaal geopende positie door de veer-

druk boven het membraan.

• Het stuurventiel sluit automatisch wanneer

de druk stroomafwaarts boven de vooraf

ingestelde veerdruk komt (moduleren).

Hierdoor wordt de vooraf ingestelde

waarde gehandhaafd.

Opstartinstelling

Voor het instellen van de juiste nadruk

gebruikt u de afstelschroef. Draai deze met

de klok mee voor het verhogen van de druk

en tegen de klok in voor het verlagen van de

druk.
