liquid.Frequentorexcessivecavitationcancause

seriousdamage,includingpittingandearlywearof

󰘱uidchambers,balls,andseats.Itmayresultin

reducedef󰘰ciencyofthepump.Cavitationdamage

andreducedef󰘰ciencybothresultinincreased

operatingcosts.

Cavitationdependsonthevaporpressureofthe

pumpedliquid,thesystemsuctionpressure,andthe

velocitypressure.Itcanbereducedbychangingany

ofthesefactors.

1.Reducevaporpressure:Decreasethe

temperatureofthepumpedliquid.

2.Increasesuctionpressure:

a.Lowertheinstalledpositionofthepump

relativetotheliquidlevelinthesupply.

b.Reducethefrictionlengthofthesuction
