ground sliall be connecied to tf,e grounding system of the building, as close to the

point of cable entrY as Practical.

INSTALLING YOUR SET

DO NOT:

a Place your TV set in a room where

direct lighting strikes the screen.

a Place your TV set too close to a wall,

in a confined area or in a very warm

location.

o Change the plug's safety prong. See

note below.

DO:

a Use soft and indirect lighting.

o Sit at least 6 feet away from the set.

a Provide normal air circulation for

reliable long life.

o Plug into an electrical outlet with

standard house power. (120 volt AC,

60Hz)

ANTENNA/CABLE TV CONNECTION

lf your local broadcast signals are strong, an indoor antenna may obtain a clear picture.

lf you cannot get a clear picture with your indoor antenna, you may need to use an

outdoor antenna. Cable TV reception is possible only by connecting a cable supplied by

your local cable operator.

There are two types of antenna cable lead-ins :

Optional F-type connector

300 ohm twin-lead cable (flat) 75 ohm coaxial cable (round)

Note :

As a safety feature, this Plug has

one prong wider than the other. lt

will fit only one way into a standard

electrical outlet. lf the plug will not

fit into the outlet, trY turning it

around. lf the plug will not fit either

way, the outlet is ProbablY old and

nonstandard. You will need to have

a new outlet installed by an electri-

CABLE TV CONNECTION

Generally, the incoming cable for a cable TV system 9an q9 connected directly to tn9!!

REMOTE CONTROL HAND UNIT

This Remote Control Hand Unit allows you to control the functions of your TV set from 16

feet (5m) away. Always aim your Hand Unit directly at the TV anil be sure there is no

obstruction between the Hand Unit and the TV. The "*" marked function buttons do not

have duplicate locations on your TV set. They can be controlled only by the Remote

Control Hand Unit. For the use of each control, see the pages in brackets.

INSTALL THE BATTERIES

1. Press the battery cover down and slide it backwards to remove it.

2. lnstalltwo "AA" batteries (supplied) as shown. Make sure you match the + and

- signs on each battery to the + and - signs in the Hand Unit.

3. Replace the battery cover until the lock snaps.

1. Set the CATV switch to the "STD" position.

2. Select various channels and confirm whether the channels will lock

immediately with perfect picture. (lf you are having problems with only

channel 5 or 6, you may have an IRC system.)

lf the channels seem to take a few seconds to lock in, your cable system may

be HRC.

3. Set the CATV switch to the "HRC" position and try above procedure again.

TV CHANNELS

This TV will receive the following TV signals:

1. TV: Off the air TV signals (VHF and UHF, non cable)

2. STD: Standard (or IRC: lncremental Related Carrier) cable TV signals

3. HRC: Harmonic Related Carrier cable TV signals

For each of these systems, your TV set has exact frequencies built into it to ensure

precise tuning. For precise tuning, your CATV switch must be set to match to your TV

signal system. The chart on the next page shows channels available in each system

and how your TV displays them. When you connect your W to a cable TV system and if

you are not sure what system they are using, proceed with the following section

"HOW TO FIND YOUR TYPE OF CABLE SYSTEM" or consult with your local cable

company to check if your system is STD(IRC) or HRC.

CATV SWITCH (on the TV set)

Set the CATV switch on the back of the TV to the proper position to match your TV

signal system referring to the chart below. When you change the switch, the mode

display will appear on the screen for approx. 2 seconds.
