Wake-up method (Bootloader): procedure to wake up your T248 (Xbox

One/XBox Series/PC) racing wheel if it will not power on at all and is not

recognized or detected by your PC, Xbox One™, Xbox Series X™, Xbox

Series S™(in the event of a loss of firmware).

Important note:

The wake-up procedure only applies in the specific case whereby the racing wheel

base will not power on:

- The racing wheel does not self-calibrate (automatic movements of the wheel

rim from left to right).

- No LEDs light up on the racing wheel’s servo base

System requirements: PC running Windows® 10 or more recent.

Things to verify before getting started:

- The power supply’s connector must be properly inserted at the back of

the racing wheel base

- The power plug must be properly plugged into a wall outlet

- Nous recommandons d'éviter l'utilisation de rallonge, de multiprise ou

de transformateur de courant

- The racing wheel base must be directly connected to a USB port on the

oWe recommend that you avoid using a USB hub, a USB extension,

or any other type of connection extension

1) Make sure that you have installed the latest PC - DRIVERS FORCE FEEDBACK

driver on your PC. If necessary, you will find the driver for your device on our website,

in the Drivers section:

https://support.thrustmaster.com/product/t248x/

Restart your computer to complete the update.

During this procedure :

- DO NOT CONNECT the racing wheel to your PC before being prompted to do so

- The racing wheel must be directly connected to a USB port on the PC. We

strongly recommend that you do not use a USB hub or a USB extension for this

procedure.

2) Start up the racing wheel in [Boot] mode

- Disconnect the USB connector from the computer.

- Press and hold down the MODE button (located in the central area of the

T248 racing wheel) and reconnect (while continuing to keep the MODE

button pressed down) the USB connector to the computer.

- Once the USB connector is reconnected to the computer, release the

MODE button.

Notes:

- During this procedure, the racing wheel does not self-calibrate (automatic

movements of the wheel rim from left to right) when connected to the

computer: this is normal

- The racing wheel’s LED is off: this is normal

- The racing wheel is not detected in the Control Panel: this is normal

3) Launch the firmware updating app on your PC:

- Click in the Windows search magnifying glass field (located on your PC’s

taskbar), type Firmware Update and then click to launch the app

4) Thrustmaster –Firmware Updater window appears onscreen

- Device displays the name [BOOT] T248…- Ver. :....

- Firmware displays the firmware version that will be applied to the device

[BOOT] T248X - Ver.: 2.03

Ver.: 2.03 –29/03/2023 - T248X_S32L452-v2_03.tmf

Note: If nothing is displayed in the Device or Firmware sections, repeat the

entire procedure from the beginning —but this time connecting the USB

connector to another USB port on your computer (or perform the procedure on

a different computer).

Click OK to carry out the firmware update

IMPORTANT: DO NOT DISCONNECT your racing wheel from the USB port on

the PC without being prompted to do so, and DO NOT UNPLUG the racing

wheel’s power supply during the firmware update!

Wait until the Firmware loading is complete: the 2. DFU Firmware bar must be

completely green.

Next, as prompted by the message indicated by the Firmware Updater,

disconnect and then reconnect the racing wheel’s USB connector in order to

validate the procedure

The firmware updating app will then let you know whether the procedure has been

successful.

The racing wheel self-calibrates (automatic movements of the wheel rim from left to

right), and its LED lights up again

Note: In the event that this procedure fails, repeat the entire procedure from the

beginning —but this time connecting the USB connector to another USB port

on your computer (or perform the procedure on a different computer).

If the problem persists, please contact our technical support team: they will

provide you with other solutions.

5) Click OK to return to the firmware updating app’s main window, then close the app

by clicking X

6) Once the firmware update is complete, make sure that the racing wheel functions

properly in the Control Panel:

➢On your keyboard, simultaneously press the Windows and Rkeys.

➢The Run window opens: type joy.cpl and then click OK

➢The Game Controllers window opens: select your product’s name, and

then click Properties
