UNPACKING
TounpacktheSubwoofer,removethetapefromthetopofthecartonthenfoldtheapsrightbackbeforeinvertingthe
cartonandcontents.Liftthecartonclearofthecontents,thenremoveallinnerpackaging.
Checkcarefullyforanysignoftransitdamage.Inthisunlikelyevent,notifyyourshippingcompanyand/ordealerassoonas
possibleforadvice.
Itisrecommendedyoustoreallthepackagingtoallowprotectedtransportinfuture.
Ensurethatthefollowingaccessoriesarepresent:
• Mainscordappropriatetoyourcountryofuse.
POSITIONING
Theperformanceofanysubwooferisgreatlyinuencedbytheroomplacement.Cornerplacementwillincreasetheamount
ofbassbyusingeitherofthecornersnexttothefrontchannelloudspeakers.Placingcentrallyalongthiswallwillresult
inlessbass,whilemovingthesubwooferoutintotheroomwillgivelessbassstill.Bepreparedtoexperimentwithboth
positionandthesubwoofercontrolstogetthebestresults.
Rememberthatthefunctionofasubwooferistoenhancetheoutputofyourmainspeakers,notoverpowerit.
CONNECTING TO YOUR SYSTEM
ALWAYSMAKEANDCHECKALLCONNECTIONSBEFOREPLUGGINGTHESUBWOOFERINTOTHEMAINS.
LINE LEVEL INPUTS
ForusewithanAVreceiverorDVDreceiver,connectascreenedphonocablefromthereceiverSUBoutputtoeitherRIGHT
orLEFTlowlevelphonoinputontherearoftheSubwoofer.
IfyouareusingtheSubwooferwitha2channelorstereosystemandyourpreamplierhasasparesetofoutputs,connect
leftandrighttotheSubwooferLandRinputsusingscreenedphonocables.
Alternatively,forAVequipmentorstereopreampliersthatofferbalancedoperation,connectionmayalternativelybemade
usingtheXLRinput(s).
HIGH-PASS OUTPUTS
Theseareprovidedforstereoapplicationstofeedyourmainloudspeakerpairpoweramplier.Thisfunctionwillrolloffthe
lowerfrequenciestoyourloudspeakers,togiveaseamlessintegrationtotheSubwoofer.Again,connectivityisbyphonoor
balancedXLRconnections.

Thereare2switchesprovidedontherearpanel:
• POWERMODE-‘AUTO’switchestheunitonautomaticallyinthepresenceofaninputsignal,revertingtostandby
modeseveralminutesafternoactivity.Pressandholdfrontmountedrotaryencodertoenableintheabsenceofan
inputsignal.‘ON’modehastheamplierenabledcontinuously.
• INPUTLEVEL-Select‘NORMAL’initially.Ifyoursourcecomponenthasahigherthannormaloutputlevel,select
• ‘Hi-LEVEL’,tooptimisetherangeofthevolumeadjustment(seeSpecications).
Adjustmentsarebymeansoftherotaryencoderonthedisplaypanel.Functionsareselectedbyeitherturningthecontrol,or
singleanddoubleclicking.ThefullmenustructureandoperationisexplainedintheFUNCTIONCHART.
• VOLUME-Thisenablestheoutputleveltobesetin1dBstepsfrom-100dBto0dB.
• HIGH-PASS-ThisenablesordisablestheHIGH-PASSoutputsockets,andprovidesalowfrequencyrolloff,whenused
withapairofstereoloudspeakersateither12of24dBperoctave,variablebetween31-125Hz.
• LOW-PASS-ThisisusedtoadjusttheSubwoofer’supperfrequencylimittoachieveacorrectbalancewiththemain
speakers.Anadjustmentrangeof31Hzto125Hzisprovided,againwith12or24dBperoctaveltering.Forusein
LFEmode(LowFrequencyEffects),wheretheltersintheAVreceiverarelefttosetthetransitiontothemainspeakers,
generallytheLOW-PASSltershouldbesettodisabled.Thisisthemostcommonformofoperation,butrefertothe
manualofyourAVreceiverformoredetails.Sometimes,inadifcultacousticenvironment,itisbenecialtoprovide
additionallteringwithinusingtheSubwoofer’scontrols,eventhoughtheAVreceiverhasbeensetinLFEmode.
• PHASE-Thiscanbeadjustedbetween0degrees(inphase)to180degrees(fullyoutofphase),in15degree
increments.ThecorrectsettingdependsonroomacousticsandthepositionoftheSubwooferintheroom.Starting
withthe0degreessetting,thenthe180degreesetting,seewhichoneresultsinthegreatestamountofbassatthe
listeningposition,beingawarethatallbassfrequenciesshouldsoundevenlybalanced.Thisisgenerallyeasierto
achieveusingmusic.Ifneithersettingissatisfactory,trytheintermediatesettings.
• PARAMETRICEQUALISER-Twoequalisersareprovidedtogiveaboostorcuttoanarrowrangeoffrequencies
tocompensateforroomeffectsortosuitindividualtaste,andeitherorbothmaybeenabledordisabled.Acentre
frequencymaybesetbetween31-125Hz,witharangeof-12to+3dB.Qorsharpnessoftheboostorcutmaybe
adjustedbetween2.0and14.4,lowervaluesrepresentingawiderfrequencyrange,andhigheronesanarrowerrange.
• PRESET-Thisfunctionenablesanyoftheaboveadjustmentstobesavedorloadedin3memorylocations.Theuser,
forexamplemayhavedifferentpreferencesformusic,moviesorlatenightlistening.
GRILLES
Thesidespeakergrilleassembliesareattachedbyhiddenmagnets,andcanberemovedifdesired.
