STABILITY AND SAFETY
The single axis joint has a stable and light frame built of aluminium-steel
alloy with a proximal integrated male pyramid and a distal mm tube
clamp. The Össur locking knee offers a locking mechanism that can
easily and effectively be unlocked by means of a release cord.
The Össur locking knee is designed for long-term use. Other than the
biannual inspection and the use of lubricant – or Centra Lube Oil
, the inner components do not require any additional maintenance or
adjustment.
The joint will lock audibly by means of the locking mechanism built into
the lower part of the joint and thus safeguards against accidental
bending through the knee. By engaging the release cord, also under load,
the mechanism is released, consequently enabling movement.
THE ÖSSUR LOCKING KNEE IS RECOMMENDED FOR:
• Low activity users that require a high degree of safety
• Bilateral transfemoral amputees
• Training prosthesis
• User with a body weight up to kg ( lbs).
TECHNICAL DATA
• Material: aluminium-steel alloy
• Reference height (from centre of knee): mm
• Weight of knee: g
• Weight limit: kg ( lbs)
• Maximum Flexion angle: degrees
ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS
The Össur locking knee is delivered ready-to-fit.
• Assemble the prosthesis: socket, knee joint, shin tube, adapters, foot
module and shoe. The reference line corresponds to the load line.
• Align the tube adapter vertically, taking the heel height into account,
to ensure optimal functioning of the knee joint.
• Tighten the pinch bolt of the tube clamp with Nm and secure with
Loctite .
• Determine the position of the socket according to the stump position
of the user. Össur recommends °–° (minimum) flexion and
adduction. Take into consideration contractions and the resultant
changes of the load line.
• Position the socket so that the reference line bisects the lateral side
wall of the socket and falls through or not more than mm behind
the axis of rotation of the Össur locking knee.
• Determine the correct length of the prosthesis
• The release cord should run along the lateral or anterior side of the
prosthesis.
TO ASSEMBLE THE RELEASE CORD ON THE ANTERIOR SIDE OF
THE PROSTHESIS:
• Mould the screw insert into the socket at a desired location.
• Attach the knee joint to the socket.
• Fasten the handle assembly to the socket with the screw and collar
