impedance

and

will

perform

equally

well

with

any

amplifiers.

If

your

amplifier

has

transformer

outputs

of

4,

ohms,

connect

the

speaker

to

the

8-ohm

terminals.

CONNECTION

TO

THE

AMPLIFIER

For

the

connection

of

the

SS-G5D

to

the

amplifier,

use

the

sup-

plied

speaker

cord.

If

a

longer

one

is

necessary,

the

largest

practically

available

size

of

wire

should

be

used

to

minimize

power

losses

in

the

wiring.

LEVEL

ADJUSTMENT

In

accordance

with

your

personal

preference

and

the

room

acous-

tics,

the

tweeter

and

mid-range

levels

can

be

adjusted

by

the

controls

for

each

unit.

At

the

NORMAL

position,

the

typical

response

can

be

obtained.

Clockwise

rotation

will

increase

the

response,

and

counterclockwise

rotation

will

decrease

the

res-

ponse.

The

tweeter

response

can

be

changed

from

+2dB

to

—

48

dB,

and

the

mid-range

response

can

be

changed

from

+2

dB

to

—4

dB.

Before

adjusting

these

levels,

be

sure

to

cancel

the

tone

controls

of

the

amplifier

so

that

the

amplifier

provides

a

flat

frequency

response,

and

set

the

volume

control

to

your

ordinary

listening

level.

PLACEMENT

The

speaker

characteristics

is

greatly

effected

by

the

room

acous-

tics

and

the

speaker

placement.

Here

are

a

few

suggestions

for

optimizing

your

listening

pleasure.

Set

up

your

speakers

in

a

large

room

having

carpeting

on

the

floor.

If

the

room

has

heavy

draperies,

so

much

the

better.

Carpets,

draperies

and

upholstered

furniture

minimize

the

multiple

reflections

of

high-frequency

sound

that

occur

in

a

bare

room,

which

reduce

the

stereo

effect.

Corner

locations

emphasize

the

bass

tones.

If

there

is

“boomy”

distortion,

place

the

speakers

apart

from

the

corners,

and

on

the

bricks

or

concrete

blocks

with

the

proper

thickness.

Place

the

left

and

right

speakers

separated

by

an

amount

slightly

less

than

the

distance

from

the

listening

area

to

each

speaker.

Proper

distance

between

the

two

speakers

is

important

to

obtain

the

best

stereo

effect.

If

separation

is

too

wide,

the

unnatural

“hole-in-the-

middle”

effect

Les

quel-

suggestions

qui

vous

aideront

à

tirer

un

plaisir

maximum

de

l'écoute.

Installer

les

haut-parleurs

dans

une

grande

pièce

où

il

y

a

un

tapis

sur

le

plancher.

Cela

sera

d'autant

mieux

si

la

pièce

a

des

draperies

épaisses.

Tapis,

draperies

et

meubles

rembourrés

mini-

misent

les

réflexions

des

sons

hautes

fréquences

qui

se

produisent

dans

une

pièce

nue

et

qui

nuisent

à

l'effet

stéréophonique.

Les

coins

mettent

en

relief

les

notes

basses.

S'il

y

a

une

dis-

torsion

de

type

“booming”,

éloigner

les

haut-parleurs

des

coins,

et

les

placer

sur

des

briques

ou

des

blocs

de

béton

de

hauteur

suffisante.

Disposer

les

haut-parleurs

droit

et

gauche

séparés

d'une

distance

légèrement

inférieure

à

celle

existant

entre

l'auditeur

et

chaque

haut-parleur.

Une

distance

correcte

entre

les

deux

haut-parleurs

est

essentielle

pour

obtenir

effet

stéréophonique
