Two keys to outstanding photos and movies

Sony is the world’s No. 1 manufac-

turer of image sensors for digital

cameras and video recorders (based

on Sony research from April 2012 to

March 2013 that shows Sony has a

50% market share)

Large image sensor

The APS-C size sensor on the 3000 is more than

13x larger than the 1/2.3-size sensors commonly

found on compact digital cameras.

Even in dim lighting, you can shoot beautiful photos with natural

tonal gradations and low noise — without using a flash. Auto ISO

provides outstanding results in most lighting situations and you can

select settings manually to suit particular occasions. Excellent low-

light performance is made possible by cutting-edge features like the

same area-specific noise reduction as found on the 99.

Wide-ranging sensitivity from ISO 100 to 16000

with 99 — adjusts the level of noise reduction for dierent areas of the image.

Superior operability makes shooting a breeze.

Enjoy intuitive operation and confident, worry-free shooting.

Brighten the scene with this convenient addition. Combined with

the high sensitivity of ISO 16000, you’ll never miss a shot even

when the lights go down. It also produces alluring catch lights for

daylight portraits.

Built-in flash* for a splash of light

The grip is designed so you can hold the camera securely, shoot

with confidence and enjoy worry-free shooting. Sony even

conducted market research to determine the optimal grip size and

shape. The result is a comfortable grip that fits snugly in the palm

of your hand and is long enough to grab ahold of securely with all

your fingers.

Secure, dependable grip

The mode dial lets you quickly change shooting modes and always

be confident about which shooting mode is currently in use. By

providing intuitive access to P/A/S/M modes, Superior Auto mode

and more, it simplifies operation so you can concentrate on the

action.

Convenient mode dial

Tap into a wide variety of optional accessories with the Multi

Interface Shoe. The 3000 system includes external flash units,

video lights, adaptors and more — everything you need when it’s

time to expand.

Multi Interface Shoe

expands your shooting options

View every scene clearly with the built-in viewfinder, which even

shows the eects of exposure and white balance settings so

you can accurately check how the final photo will look. Features

include 100% frame coverage and various shooting information

Precious moments you’ll cherish forever.

Produce stunning photos and movies that always impress.

Give your photos a professional look with Auto Object Framing. This

savvy function analyzes portraits, close-ups or images of moving

subjects then crops them after you take the shot to produce photos

with maximum appeal. Featuring advancements like exceptional

two-person portrait capabilities along with Face Detection and

Tracking Focus, Auto Object Framing not only turns ordinary photos

into stunning compositions but does so eortlessly, automatically

recognizing the scene then cropping accordingly. And thanks to

Sony’s By Pixel Super Resolution Technology and high-resolution

Exmor sensor, images can be radically cropped without marked loss

of image quality.

Notes:

• Cropping results vary depending on shooting situations.

• The original image is saved along with the cropped version.

Fabulous Full HD movies at the press of a button

Experience the magnificence of Full HD movies in

AVCHD. Just press the MOVIE button and start shooting.

Support for 60i* gives your movies a lifelike feel with

more natural movement while aspiring moviemakers

can select 24p* to re-create the look of traditional

cinema. 3000’s responsive autofocus keeps subjects

in sharp focus, allowing you to record even moving

subjects and still be assured of excellent results. The

built-in microphone delivers superior audio quality, and

Digital Zoom can be used to extend the lens’ maximum

magnification while recording.

* 1080 60i/1080 devices

If you can’t seem to get close enough to the subject, activate Clear

Image Zoom. This extends the reach of your lens up to 2x without

markedly degrading image quality. Clear Image Zoom employs

Sony’s By Pixel Super Resolution Technology to achieve amazingly

sharp zoom shots without a telephoto lens. And by combining it

with 3000’s Digital Zoom and Smart Zoom*, you can increase

magnification up to 8x over the lens’ maximum focal length. What’s

more, Clear Image Zoom supports both photos and movies so you’ll

always have plenty of reach for distant subjects.

* Smart Zoom does not support movies.
