Purpose of this manual This manual is the installation manual of the BKMA-7045 Asynchronous Network

I/F Kit.

This manual is intended for use by trained system and service engineers, and

describes the information regarding installation.

This “Semiconductor Pin Assignments” CD-ROM allows you to search for

semiconductors used in Communication System Solutions Network Company

equipment.

Semiconductors that cannot be searched for on this CD-ROM are listed in the

maintenance manual for the corresponding unit. The maintenance manual contains

a complete list of all semiconductors and their ID Nos., and thus should be used

together with the CD-ROM.

Section 1 Installation

Explains the overview of the BKMA-7045, how to install the BKMA-7045 to the

MAV-70XGI, and the connector and cable information for peripheral equipment

connections, etc.

Section 2 Service Overview

Explains the function and factory setting of the switches and LEDs on the board and

the specifications of the BKMA-7045.

1-1. Overview

The BKMA-7045 asynchronous network I/F kit can be connected to the gigabit Ethernet by attaching the

MAV-70XGI.

The BKMA-7045 needs to be used with a gateway PC. For the PCs that can be connected, contact your

local Sony Sales Office/Service Center.

The BKMA-7045 consists of the following components.

3. Insert the BKMA-7045 into the expansion slot, and

then push the board levers in the directions of arrow

1to connect the board to the mother board securely.

4. Secure the BKMA-7045 to the unit with the two

screws securing the blank panel.

5. Stick the label of the used expansion slot number

(supplied with the BKMA-7045).

When removing the board, push the board levers in the

direction of arrow 2, and pull out the board toward you.

1-2. Board Installation

General Information

.Attach the board to the MAV-70XGI expansion slot. The

board needs to be attached to a lower empty slot.

.Stick the slot label (supplied with the BKMA-7045) after

the board installation to prevent the incorrect insertion

when the board replacing.

.Do not open the slot to keep the air-cooled effect of

MAV-70XGI. Be sure to attach the blank panel to the

vacant slot.

.It is not necessary to adjust after board installation/

replacement.

Procedure

1. Turn off power switches A and B of the MAV-70XGI.

2. Remove the two screws of the expansion slot and

remove the blank panel.

Keep the removed blank panel.

1-3. SCSI Setup

This section describes how to set the SCSI ID and SCSI termination on the MAV-70XGI menu.

Procedure

1. Open the “Service: Boards screen” menu. (Refer to the MAV-70XGI Operation Manual.)

2. Select “Select” using the and buttons and select the slot number into which the BKMA-7045

is inserted using the and buttons. Then press the [ENTER] button.

3. Select “SCSI ID” using the and buttons and select the SCSI ID using the and

buttons. Then press the [ENTER] button.

Perform a setting other than ones of other SCSI equipment connected to the same Gateway.

4. Select “TERMINATOR” using the and buttons and select either “ON” or “OFF” using the

and buttons. Then press the [ENTER] button.

Set “ON” only when either of two SCSI connectors is connected.

5. Select “Exit” using the and buttons and press the [ENTER] button.

Dedicated interface for connecting a gateway PC and the MAV-70XGI

This is connected at the gateway PC and ULTRA2 (LVD) SCSI.

When connecting cables to various connectors on the connector panel at the time of installing or servic-

ing, connect the following connector/cable or their equivalent.
