Installing Mandrel
Step 1: Insert mandrel into stem (Fig A)
Step 2: Insert lock pin into hole so it catches on bearing. Use end of tool to push in if needed (Fig B, C)

Step 3: Install the mandrels matching nose piece into stem (Fig D)
Step 4: Tighten with included tool (Fig E) you will need to hold the stem while tightening.

NOTE: To replace mandrels just follow the above steps in reverse.
NOTE: Always apply light oil to nosepiece, mandrel and threads.
How to operate Tool
Step 1: Make sure hole is drilled the correct size cleanly and there are no burrs. (Fig A)
Step 2: With the handles spread open, screw nutsert onto mandrel (B) Adjust nosepiece for the specific
nutsert type so that the nutsert receives full thread engagement on the mandrel. This will also
adjust the working stroke. By adjusting nosepiece outward you will increase the working stroke, by
adjusting the nosepiece inward you will decrease the working stroke. Excessive stroke may
damage nutsert and tool. Nutsert must touch the nose piece slightly, NOT HEAVILY.

Step 3: Insert the nutsert into the previously drilled whole (C)
NOTE: Depending on application, you may want to apply RTV silicon sealer to the nutsert to seal the hole.
Step 4: Pressing tool firmly against nutsert, steadily and evenly squeeze the handles together (D) Only use
hand pressure. Excessive force can damage the nutsert and/or tool.
NOTE: Excessive side forces can damage or break the mandrel threads.

Step 5: Squeeze handles together completely (Fig E) Nutsert should collapse completely. If not, open
handles and tighten the knob slightly, then repeat step 5. Re-adjust nosepiece if necessary.
Step 6: Once nutsert is installed, spread open handles and rotate knob counter clockwise to remove
mandrel from nutsert. (Fig F, G)
Step 7: When mandrel is all of the way out, installation is done and you can move to the next one. (Fig H)
NOTE: It is good practice to check the threads after each install by threading a bolt into nutsert and making
sure it threads in easily.

Tool Uses
Fig 1: The open end is used to tighten or loosen the mandrel nose piece.
Fig 2: The closed center area is to use to tighten or loosen the mandrel knob (if needed).
Fig 3: The pointed end is used to install or remove the mandrel lock pin.

Maintenance
Occasionally apply light oil to the nose piece, mandrel, main shaft, mandrel lock pin and
hinges.
Troubleshooting
If the nutsert is not set firmly at the first fastening attempt, open handles slightly and
tighten knob slightly and re-crush nutsert. Do not over tighten.
If nutsert is stuck on mandrel, use tool on knob for extra leverage.
If nutsert is deformed and you find it difficult to thread the bolt into the nutsert, you may
clearance the nutsert with a rotary rasp bit or file.
If deformed nutsert cannot accept a bolt, you may have to remove nutsert completely. This
can be done by drilling out nutsert with slightly smaller drill bit then the bit sized used for
drilling the nutsert hole.
