INTRODUCTION
●This tool is intended for lengthways and crossways
cutting of wood with straight cuts as well as angle cuts to
45°; with the appropriate saw blades also non-ferrous
metals, light building materials and plastics can be cut
TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS 1
SAFETY
●Read and save this instruction manual (pay special
attention to the safety instructions at the back) 2
●Check voltage indicated on nameplate of tool/charger/
battery
●In case of electrical or mechanical malfunction,
immediately switch off the tool or unplug charger from
power source
●Avoid damage that can be caused by screws, nails and
other elements in your workpiece; remove them before
you start cutting
●When you put away the tool, switch off the motor and
ensure that all moving parts have come to a complete
standstill
●SKIL can assure flawless functioning of the tool only
when original accessories are used
●Before using accessories always compare the maximum
allowed speed of that specific accessory with the speed
of the tool
●Never use the tool without the original protection guard
system
●This tool should not be used by people under the age of
16 years
●The noise level when working can exceed 85 dB(A);
wear ear protection
●This tool is not suitable for wet cutting
●The kerf guide has to be adjusted in case different
diameters of sawblade are used
●Do not use a circular saw blade which is cracked,
deformed or dull
●Do not use a circular saw blade of which the body
thickness is bigger, or the teeth setting is smaller than
the thickness of the kerf guide
●After switching off your circular saw, never stop the
rotation of the saw blade by a lateral force applied
against it
●Never clamp or wedge the lower guard in open position;
ensure that it operates freely
●Never use circular saw blades made of high speed steel
(HSS)
●Only use thin saw blades designed for cordless circular
saws
●Never use grinding/cutting discs with this tool
●Do not remove the kerf guide
●Keep hands away from the saw blade while the tool
is in use
●Do not cut material containing asbestos
●Do not attempt to cut extremely small workpieces
●Remove all obstacles on top of as well as underneath
the cutting path before you start cutting
●Do not work overhead with the tool
●Do not activate switch when carrying the tool
●Always remove battery from tool before making any
adjustment or changing any accessory, in order to
reduce the risk of starting the tool accidentally
CHARGING/BATTERIES
●Charge battery only with the charger that is supplied with
the tool
●Do not charge batteries of other manufacturers
●Do not touch the contacts in the charger
●Do not expose tool/charger/battery to rain
●Do not not carry or suspend the charger by the cord
●Never charge battery outdoors 3
●Store tool/charger/battery in locations where temperature
will not exceed 40° C or drop below 0°
●Batteries will explode in fire, so do not burn battery for
any reason
●When damaged, and under extreme usage and
temperature conditions, batteries may start to leak
-if liquid comes into contact with the skin, wash quickly
with soap and water, then with lemon juice or vinegar
-if liquid gets into the eyes, flush eyes with clean water
for a minimum of 10 minutes and seek immediately
medical attention
●When battery is not in tool or charger, it should be kept
away from metal objects such as nails, screws, keys etc.
to prevent short-circuit
●Do not use charger when damaged; take it to one of the
officially registered SKIL Service Stations for a safety
check
●Do not use charger when cord or plug is damaged; cord
or plug should be replaced immediately at one of the
officially registered SKIL Service Stations
●Do not use battery when damaged; it should be replaced
immediately
●Do not disassemble charger or battery
●Do not attempt to recharge non-rechargeable batteries
with the charger
WHEN CONNECTING NEW 3-PIN PLUG (U.K. ONLY):
●Do not connect the blue (= neutral) or brown (= live) wire
in the cord of the charger to the earth terminal of the plug
●If for any reason the old plug is cut off the cord of the
charger, it must be disposed of safely and not left
unattended
USE
USE OF BATTERY
●Always remove battery from tool before making any
adjustment or changing any accessory, in order to
reduce the risk of starting the tool accidentally 4
●Charging battery 5
-battery of new tools is not fully charged
-plug charger into power source
-light A will turn on
-insert battery correctly into charger, so that it makes
contact and is not hindered by foreign objects
-light A will blink indicating that the battery is receiving
a charge (5a)

-after approximately 1 hour the battery is fully charged
and light A stays on after blinking, at which time the
charger automatically switches to maintenance-
charging (5b)
!remove battery from charger after charging period
has ended thereby lengthening the service life of
the battery
IMPORTANT:
-if light A does not blink after inserting a battery (5b),
this may mean:
1) that the battery is too cold or too hot (charger only
charges batteries when its temperature is between
0°C and 45°C); the charger then automatically
switches to maintenance-charging, until a
temperature between 0°C and 45°C is reached, at
which time the charger will automatically switch to
normal charging
2) that the battery should be replaced
-while charging, the charger and the battery may
become warm to touch; this is normal and does not
indicate a problem
-ensure that the outside surface of the battery is clean
and dry before inserting into charger
-do not remove battery from tool while it is running
-when you charge the battery for the first time, it only
accepts 80% of its maximum capacity; after several
charges and discharges, however, the batteries
should be at full capacity and deliver maximum
performance
-do not repeatedly recharge the battery after only a few
minutes of operation; this may result in a reduction of
operating time and battery efficiency
-the nickel-cadmium battery must be kept separate
from the natural environment and should not be
disposed of as normal domestic waste (symbol 6will
remind you of this when the need for disposing
occurs)
!prior to disposal protect battery terminals with
heavy tape to prevent short-circuit
-if you anticipate long periods of non-use for the tool, it
is best to unplug the charger from its power source
USE OF TOOL
●Changing saw blade 7
-open lower guard B by using lever C
-change saw blade with saw teeth and arrow printed
on saw blade pointing in same direction as arrow on
lower guard B
!make sure that clamping surfaces D of flanges are
perfectly clean and face the blade
-tighten blade bolt E with hex key 1/8 turn past finger
tight (ensures slippage of saw blade when it
encounters excessive resistance thus reducing motor
overload and saw kickback)
●Adjusting cutting depth (0-40 mm) 8
-for an optimal quality cut the saw blade should not
extend more than 3 mm below the workpiece
-loosen knob F
-raise/lower foot G until desired cutting depth is set on
scale using indicator H
-tighten knob F
●Adjusting cutting angle (0-45°) 9
-loosen knob J
-tilt tool until desired cutting angle is set on scale using
indicator K
-tighten knob J
!when bevel cutting, cutting depth does not
correspond with value on cutting depth scale
●90° Cutting angle check 9
-adjust and tighten foot G to maximum cutting depth 8
-adjust and tighten cutting angle to 0°
-check for 90° angle between the blade and bottom of
foot with a square
-if adjustment is needed, tilt and tighten foot to 45° and
bend tab L with an adjustable wrench
●Kerf guide M 0
-protects saw blade from getting jammed in the
workpiece
-needs readjustment when min./max. space is affected
or upon changing of saw blade

-for guiding tool along desired line of cut marked on the
workpiece
-for a straight 0° cut or a 45° bevel cut use the indicator
line concerned
!the wide part of the foot should rest on the
supported version of the workpiece
-can be adjusted to allow you to choose whether waste
material is on inner or outer side of blade !b
!cutting width is determined by width of blade
teeth and not by width of blade body
!always make trial cuts first to verify actual line of
cut
●Dust suction
-connect vacuum cleaner to extension Q @
!never let the vacuum cleaner hose interfere with
the lower guard or the cutting operation
-one may also use a dust bag (SKIL accessory
2610387402)
●Operating the tool @
!ensure that before using the battery is securely
positioned in the tool
-always hold handle R firmly with one hand and handle
S firmly with the other hand
-keep the ventilation slots uncovered
-place tool with front end of foot flat on workpiece
!ensure that the saw teeth are not engaged into the
workpiece
-switch on tool by first pressing knob T (= safety switch
which cannot be locked) with your thumb and then
pulling trigger U
!the tool should run at full speed before the blade
enters into the workpiece
-lower guard B opens automatically when saw blade
enters the workpiece (open lower guard manually by
using lever C only for special cuts such as plunge
cuts)

-do not force the tool; apply light and continuous
pressure
!do not load the tool so heavily that it comes to a
standstill
-after completing the cut switch off tool by releasing
trigger U
!ensure that the blade has come to a complete
standstill, before you lift the tool from the
workpiece
APPLICATION ADVICE
●Always remove battery from tool before making any
adjustment or changing any accessory, in order to
reduce the risk of starting the tool accidentally
●Always face the good side of the workpiece down to
ensure minimum splintering
●Only use sharp saw blades of the correct type #
-quality of cut improves by the number of teeth
-carbide tipped blades stay sharp up to 30 times longer
than ordinary blades
●Rip fence V $
-for making exact cuts along a workpiece edge
-can be inserted in either side of foot
Adjusting rip fence
-loosen knob W
-adjust to desired cutting width by using rip fence scale
(use line-of-cut indicator P as 0-reference)
-tighten knob W
●Plunge cutting %
-set desired cutting depth
-tilt tool forward with line-of-cut indicator lined up with
desired line of cut marked on the workpiece
-open lower guard B with lever C
-just before blade enters workpiece, switch on tool and
gradually lower back end of tool using front end of foot
as hinge-point
-gradually move tool downward as well as forward as
soon as kerfguide touches the workpiece
-when foot rests flat on workpiece, release lever C
!never pull tool backwards
●Cutting large panels ^
-support panel close to the cut either on floor, table or
workbench
!set cutting depth so that you cut through panel
and not through support
-in case rip fence does not allow desired width of cut,
clamp or nail straight piece of wood to workpiece as a
guide, and use the right side of the foot against this
guide

GUARANTEE / ENVIRONMENT
●Keep tool and charger clean (especially the ventilation
slots)
-the charger may be cleaned most effectively with
compressed air (wear safety goggles)
-clean charging contacts in charger with alcohol or
contact cleaner
!unplug charger from power source before
cleaning
●Clean saw blade immediately after use (especially from
resin and glue)
●Protect saw blades from shocks and impacts
●Protect uncoated saw blades from corrosion with a thin
coat of acid-free oil (remove oil again before use to
prevent spotting of wood)
●This SKIL product is guaranteed in accordance with
statutory/country-specific regulations; damage due to
normal wear and tear, overload or improper handling will
be excluded from the guarantee
●In case of a complaint, send the tool undismantled
together with proof of purchase to your dealer or the
nearest SKIL service station (addresses as well as the
service diagram of the tool are listed on
www.skileurope.com)
●Dispose of the tool by sorting tool, accessories and
packaging for environment-friendly recycling (the plastic
components are labeled for categorized recycling)
