Introducing the FireWire 2-Port PCIe DV

The FireWire2-PortPCIe DV isdesignedtoaddFireWire

interface to your PCI Express-enabled system. Ulead

VideoStudio video editing software is included for

producing greeting cards, video e-mails, or home videos

complete with attractive titles, effects, and background

music.

Hardware Installation

General instructions for installing the card are provided

below. Since the design of computer cases and

motherboards vary, refer to your computer’s reference

manual for further information, if needed.

Static Electricity Discharge may permanently damage

your system. Discharge any static electricity build up in

your body by touching your computer’s case for a few

seconds. Avoid any contact with internal parts and

handle cards only by their external edges.

1. Turn OFF the power to your computer.

2. Unplugthepowercordandremoveyourcomputer's

cover.

3. RemovetheslotbracketfromanavailablePCIeslot.

4. Carefully align the card to the selected PCIe slot

push the board down firmly, but gently, until it is

well seated.

5. Connect the system power source to the board's

power connector.

6. Replacetheslotbracket holdingscrewtosecurethe

card.

7. Replacethecomputercoverandreconnectthepower

cord.

Driver Installation

Windowswillautomaticallydetectandinstallthecorrect

drivers for your FireWire 2-Port PCIe DV.

ToVerifyDriverInstallation

1. Check Device Manager to verify successful driver

installation.

Windows 2000/XP/Server 2003: Right click My

Computer, then click Manage. Click Device

Manager.

WindowsVista™:RightclickComputer,clickManage,

click Continue, then click Device Manager.

2. Double click 1394 Bus Controller or IEEE 1394 Bus

host controllers option.

- AnIEEE1394HostControllershouldbedisplayed.

UleadVideoStudiosoftwareinstallation

TheFireWire2-PortPCIe DV includes Ulead VideoStudio

digitalvideoeditingsoftwareforproducinghomevideos

complete with attractive titles, transitions and sounds.

1. InserttheUleadVideoStudioDVsoftwareCD. Auto-

run should start automatically. If not, click Start,

Run,typeineitherX:\Autorun.exeorX:\setup.exe,

then click OK. (Replace X: with the drive letter of

your CD-ROM)

2. Choose Install Ulead VideoStudio and follow the

on-screen instructions to complete.

Note: For instructions on how to use Ulead

VideoStudio, please refer to VStudio.pdf file

located in the Document\Manual directory on the

Ulead VideoStudio DV editing software CD.

Connecting a DV Camcorder

Before setting up the digital video camcorder, verify the

FireWire 2-Port PCIe DV driver has been successfully

installed in your system, then follow the procedures

below.

1. Boot up your system.

2. Connect the 4-pin connector of the provided

FireWire 400 (1394a) DV cable to your camcorder.

3. Connect the 6-pin connector to the FireWire 400

(1394a) port.

4. Power on the camcorder. The camcorder should

now appear in Device Manager.

VerifyDVCamcorder

1. Windows 2000/XP/Server 2003: Right click My

Computer, then click Manage. Click Device

Manager.

WindowsVista™:RightclickComputer,clickManage,

click Continue, then click Device Manager.1.

RightclickMyComputer,thenclickManage. Click

Device Manager.

2. Double click Imaging Device(s).

- AMicrosoft DV Camera and VCR or DV

Camcorder should be displayed.

Connecting Other 1394 Devices

Many 1394 devices have built-in driver support with

Windows 2000/XP/Server 2003/Vista. Please refer to

the device’s user manual for detail installation

information. Depending on the device you purchased, a

different 1394 cable may be used. Refer to your 1394

device's manual for more details.
