3. INSTALLATION

THE BURNER MUST BE INSTALLED IN CONFORMITY WITH LEGISLATION AND LOCAL STANDARDS.

3.1 WORKING POSITION

The burner is designed for operation in positions 1and 2only. Installation 1is the preferred option as it is the

only one that enables maintenance to be performed as described later on in this manual.

Operation is possible with installation option 2though maintenance cannot be performed with the burner con-

nected to the boiler. Note that any other installation position is likely to hinder the unit’s proper operation. Instal-

lations 3, 4 and 5are prohibited as safety is compromised.

3.2 BOILER FIXING

Important: with some boilers it is possible that the CO values exceed those declared in this manual.

To reduce these emissions, the recirculation pipe supplied must be used.

To fit the burner to the boiler it is necessary to carry out the following:

³If necessary insert the recirculating pipe (1) on the burner blast tube (2) and fix it with the screw (3), (see

fig. 2).

Attention: respect the dimensions, as described in chapter “2.2 OVERALL DIMENSIONS“ at page 3.

³Put on the flange (4) the screw and two nuts, (see fig. 4).

³Widen, if necessary, the insulating gasket holes (5, fig. 5).

³Fix the flange (4) to the boiler door (6) using screws (7) and (if necessary) the nuts (8) interposing the

insulating gasket (5), (see fig. 3).

3.3 HYDRAULIC SYSTEMS

*ONLY FOR ITALY: Automatic shut-off device as per Ministry of Internal Affairs’ regulation no. 73 dated 7/29/71.

H= difference of level; L= max. length of the suction line; I. D. = internal diameter.

PRIMING PUMP:

On the system in fig. 6 it is sufficient to loosen the suction gauge connec-

tion (6, fig. 7) and wait until oil flows out.

On the systems in fig. 8 and 9 start the burner and wait for the priming.

Should lock-out occur prior to the arrival of the fuel, await at least 20 sec-

onds before repeating the operation.

The pump suction should not exceed a maximum of 0.4 bar (30 cm Hg).

Beyond this limit gas is released from the oil. Oil pipes must be completely

tight.

In the vacuum systems (fig. 9) the return line should terminate within the oil

tank at the same level as the suction line. In this case a non-return valve is

not required. Should however the return line arrive over the fuel level, a

non-return valve is required. This solution however is less safe than previ-

ous one, due to the possibility of leakage of the valve.

The burner is designed to accommodate the installation of

light oil supply pipes on either side.

It is necessary to install a filter on the fuel supply line.

The pump is designed to allow working with two pipes. In

order to obtain one pipe working it is necessary to unscrew

the return plug (2), remove the by-pass screw (3) and then

screw again the plug (2). (See fig. 7).

Before starting the burner make sure that the return pipe-

line is not clogged. An excessive back pressure would

cause the damage of the pump seal.

– Wires of min. 1 mm2section. (Unless requested oth-

erwise by local standards and legislation).

– The electrical wiring carried out by the installer must

be in compliance with the rules in force in the Country.

*(See page 5). Connect the automatic shut-off de-

vice (230V - 0.5A max.) to the clamps N - T2 of the

7 pin plug.

CONTROL BOX

■To remove the control-box from the burner, loosen screw (A, fig. 10)

after removing all components, the 7 pin plug and earth wire.

During the re-assembly of the control box, retighten the screw

(A) with a torque wrench setting of 1 – 1.2 Nm.

■For burners installed on air generators, remove the bridge (B, fig. 10)

from the control box.

TESTING:

Check the shut-down of the

burner by opening the thermo-

stats and the lock-out by

darkening the flame detector.

4. BURNER OPERATION

4.1 COMBUSTION ADJUSTMENT

In conformity with Efficiency Directive 92/42/EEC the application of the burner on the boiler, adjustment and

testing must be carried out observing the instruction manual of the boiler, including verification of the CO and

CO2concentration in the flue gases, their temperatures and the average temperature of the water in the boiler.

To suit the required appliance output, choose the proper nozzle and adjust the pump pressure, the setting of

the combustion head, and the air damper opening in accordance with the following schedule.

The values shown in the table are measured on a CEN boiler (as per EN 267), and they refer to 12.5% CO2

at sea level (1013 hPA) and with light oil and room temperature of 20 °C, with a combustion chamber pres-

sure of 0 mbar.

4.2 RECOMMENDED NOZZLES

Steinen type 60° H;

Danfoss type 60° H;

Delavan type 60° W.

4.3 PUMP PRESSURE

The pump leaves the factory set at 12 bar.

To change it act on pump pressure adjust screw (5, fig. 7, page 5).

nozzles have been used.

4.4 MAINTENANCE POSITION, (fig. 11)

Before performing maintenance on the burner, it is

best to disconnect the system’s power supply.

³Unscrew and remove the screw fastening it to the

flange to take the burner off the boiler.

³Hook the burner onto flange (7), loosen screws (5)

and pull off the blast tube assembly (4).

³Loosen screw (3, fig. 14 page 9) to remove the dif-

fuser disc support assembly (3) from nozzle-holder

assembly (1).

³Pull wires (2) out from electrodes.

³Replace nozzle (6) and screw the new one on prop-

erly, holding it as illustrated in figure 11.

³Refit following the above procedure in the reverse

order.

4.5 COMBUSTION HEAD SETTING, (fig. 13)

Combustion head adjustment varies depending on

burner delivery. To adjust, proceed as follows:

³Turn adjusting screw (2) clockwise or anticlockwise

until the notch on the regulating rod (3) is lined up with

the outer surface of the nozzle-holder assembly (1).

³In the example, the regulating rod (3) is set to setpoint

3. This means the burner is adjusted for an output of

2.7 kg/h with a pump pressure of 12 bar using a 0.75

GPH nozzle, as indicated in the reference table relat-

ing to burner type 370T1.

4.6 AIR DAMPER ADJUSTMENT

To adjust the air damper proceed as follows:

³Loosen nut (5, fig. 13) and set the valve by adjusting

the screw (4).

³When the adjustment is complete screw down nut (5).

Type 370T1 - BGK1

When the burner stops, the air damper closes automati-

cally until maximum negative flue pressure is 0.5 mbar.

Type 374T1 - BGK2

When the burner stops, the air damper stays open.
