FIRST USE
Unpack the appliance carefully and check, if there are
any parts damaged or missing.
CAUTION: It is important to carefully remove all packing and
shipping materials (in the slots and under the on/off handle)
as well as any price-tags, but do not remove any warning or
model labels on the appliance. Ensure that there are no
foreign objects (i.e. packing materials) in the slots before
operating the appliance.
Important: The toaster is operating with an electronic con-
trol. The on/off handle only engages in the toasting position,,
if the toaster is connected to the power supply and switched
on.
When using the toaster for the first time, you may notice a
fine smoke haze, because of the first heating of some of the
components. There is no need for concern. To prevent smell
and taste of your food from being affected, you should heat
the appliance on browning level 6 before placing any cakes
and pastries in the slots (see: ›Operating Your Toaster ). If the
burnt smell occurs again on later use, clean the toaster (see:
›Care and Cleaning‹). If the burnt smell persists stubbornly
even after thoroughly cleaning the appliance, return the
appliance to an authorized service center for examination and
repair.
