while metering their power consumption.*

ensures interoperability with Z-Wave-certied products from
other manufacturers.

Required Tools
To install your QEES RETO Shell you will need the following
tools:
Phillips blade
screwdriver
Cable stripper/cutter
Power Plug QEES RETO Shell Connected Product
This guide describes the
installation of RETO Shell
products.
Please note that you may
connect wires in two differ-
ent ways: pass-through or
loop-back as illustrated by
the gure above.
RETO Shell Dimmer is a
UNI dimmer capable of
gradually adjusting light
intensity in many loads,
such as: Energy-saving,
LED, halogen and incan-
descent light bulbs.
RETO Shell Switch can
control various electrical
appliances. RETO Shell
Dimmer, however, is to be
connected only to dim-
mable loads.
During installation both
your QEES product and the
appliance to be controlled
must be disconnected from
mains power.

Snip your appliance’s
power cable where you
want your RETO Shell
placed. Strip the wires as
illustrated in gure 4.
Take off the back cover of
your RETO Shell by remov-
ing the four screws shown
in gure 5.
If your appliance has
a ground/earth wire,
connect it to the terminal
block marked (the
ground/earth wire in the
EU is typically green/yel-
low, US typically green).
The stripped wires from
your appliance’s cables
are to be connected to
terminals L and N. The
wires to the appliance go
into the terminal block
marked OUT.

The cables are secured
using cable reliefs as
shown in gure 8. When
using loop-back wiring,
both cables are secured by
the same cable relief.
When using pass-through
wiring, the plastic tab
shown in gure 9 must be
broken off the back cover.
A short press on the device
will toggle the controlled
appliance - only when the
device is completely initial-
ized. Refer to the online
manual for additional
information.
Remount back cover. The
device is now ready for
use. Connect it to power
and to a plugged-in load
and it will light blue as it
attempts to join a Z-Wave
network.

The following guide de-
scribes how to set up and
control your QEES RETO
Shell with QEES MyKey.
Should you have another
Z-Wave controller, please
consult its manual for
conguration.
Press three times quickly
on the button you want to
control the product with –
the LED ashes blue.
Then press your RETO Shell
product three times quickly
– the LED ashes blue and
it begins linking.
After successful linking
between MyKey and your
RETO Shell, both LEDs
will light green for two
seconds.

You can control several
products from the same
button on the MyKey. In
order to do so, repeat
conguration steps 1-3.
Your product can now be
controlled by your MyKey.
A short button press will
toggle it; a long press will
dim lights up or down
(applies only to QEES
Dimmers).
Repeat conguration steps
1-3 to congure more
products on your MyKey’s
other buttons.

You can delete a link to a
product from a button on
MyKey. Refer to the online
manual for a complete
description on how to
perform network actions.

You can restore the default
settings by pressing four
times quickly - the LED lights
blue. Then press three times
quickly - the LED lights red.
Then hold the button until
the device lights green.
