Introduction
Before assembling and using the device for the
first time, take time to familiarise yourself with
the product first. Read the following assembly
instructions and safety instructions carefully. Only use the
product as described and for the designated areas of ap-
plication. Please keep these instructions in a safe place. If
you hand this product on to a third party, you must also
pass on all documents relating to the product.

Proper Use
This device is intended to be used for detecting metal and
live electrical wires. Other uses or modification of the device
shall be considered as improper use and may lead to dan-
ger, e.g. risk of personal injury or damage to the device.
The manufacturer will not accept liability for loss or dam-
age arising from improper use. The device is not intended
for commercial use.

AND RISK OF ACCIDENTS FOR IN-
FANTS AND CHILDREN! Never leave
children unattended with packaging materials or the
product. There is otherwise a risk of fatal injury by
suffocation. Always keep children away from the
product. This is not a toy.
J Children or other persons who do not have the knowl-
edge or experience required to use the electrical ap-
pliance, or who have limited physical, sensory or mental
capabilities, must not use the appliance without super-
vision or instruction by a person who is responsible
for their safety. Children must be supervised at all
times to prevent them playing with the appliance.
JDo not expose the product to
– extreme temperatures,
– strong vibrations,
– heavy mechanical loads,
– direct sunlight,
– magnetic fields,
– moisture.
These can damage the product.
JDo not immerse the product in water under any cir-
cumstances. Never hold the product under running
water. Otherwise the product may be damaged.
JThe device contains sensitive electronic components. It
is therefore possible that nearby radio transmission
devices may cause interference. These may be, for ex-
ample, mobile telephones, two-way radios, CB radios,
radio-operated remote controls / other remote con-
trols and microwave devices. If false readings occur,

remove such equipment from the vicinity of the device.
JDo not use the device in hospitals or other medical in-
stitutions. The device may affect the function of life
support systems.
JElectromagnetic interference/high-frequency emis-
sions can lead to the appliance failing. In cases of the
appliance failing to work remove the battery for a
short while and then replace it. Do this as described
in the “Inserting/changing the batteries“ section.
JCheck the product for damage before use. Never use
a damaged product.
mCAUTION! Never open the housing of the product.
This can result in injury and damage to the product.
Repairs must be carried out by an electrician only.
JDo not allow anyone inexperienced to use the prod-
uct. Make sure that anyone intending to use the prod-
uct has read the operating manual and is capable of
operating the product safely.
JOn no account should you press the buttons with
force or use any pointed or sharp object to press the
buttons.
Battery Safety Instructions
WARNING!DANGER TO LIFE! Keep batteries
out of the reach of children. Do not leave batteries
lying around. There is a risk of children or animals
swallowing them. Consult a doctor immediately if a
battery is swallowed.
JEXPLOSION HAZARD! Never recharge,
short-circuit and/or open batteries. This
can cause them to overheat, burn or burst.
Never throw batteries into fire or water. The batteries
may explode.
JAvoid extreme conditions and temperatures that could
have an adverse effect on the batteries, e.g. radiators.
There is an increased risk of leakage otherwise!
JCheck regularly that the batteries are not leaking.
JLeaked or damaged batteries can cause
chemical burns if they come into contact
with the skin; in such cases you must wear
suitable protective gloves.
JAvoid contact with the skin, eyes and mucous mem-
branes if fluid has leaked from the battery. In the
event of contact with battery acid, rinse the affected

area with plenty of clean water and consult a doctor
immediately.
JRemove light dirt from the battery and product con-
tacts with a dry, non-fluffing cloth before inserting the
batteries.
JRemove the batteries from the product if it is not in use
for any length of time.

Make sure that the polarity is correct when you insert
the batteries. This is indicated in the battery compart-
ment. The batteries can otherwise explode.
JInsert the batteries with care. The product can other-
wise be damaged.
JPlease do not dispose of used batteries in your house-
hold waste but take them to a designated collection
depot for special waste.

Inserting/changing the batteries
jNote: First remove the protective foil from the device.
jOpen the battery compartment 5on the back of the
appliance.
jRemove the used batteries if need be.
jInsert two new 1.5V batteries (AAA) into the bat-
tery compartment 5.
Note: Ensure correct polarity. This is indicated in the
battery compartment 5.
jClose the battery compartment 5again.

Using the Multifunction Detector
Tip! Test the device before initial use on a metal pipe
or power line whose position you know exactly.
jSlide the function switch 3to “METAL” in order to
locate metal pipes etc.
jSlide the function switch 3to “VOLTAGE” in order to
locate power lines etc.
jHold the measuring head 1directly on the desired
point of the wall.
jPress and hold down the PUSH key 4.
jMove the device slowly over the wall surface.
Note: Ensure direct contact between the measuring
head 1and the wall.
