1. This tool contains a Class II laser product that emits
laser radiation.
a. A Class II laser product does not produce damaging
radiation under normal operating condition. Magnifying the
beam can cause eye damage.
2. Do not stare into the laser aperture.
3. Be aware of laser light reflected from work surfaces. Reflective
laser radiation can cause cumulative damage.
4. Do not disassemble the laser or laser housing. Doing so may
expose the user to a radiation hazard.
5. Wear safety eyewear that will block the appropriate laser
wavelength and reduce exposure to a safe level.
PARTS IDENTIFICATION
WARNING! Do not operate the tool if any part is missing. Replace
the missing part before operating. Failure to do so could result in a
malfunction and personal injury.
Remove the parts and accessories from the packaging and inspect for
damage. Make sure that all items in the parts list are included.

ASSEMBLY
When this manual refers to a part number, it refers to the included Parts
Identification section.
Attached a speed measurement adapter by inserting the contact tach spindle
(G) into the opening of the adapter. A metal tab on the spindle will fit into a
slot on the adapter. Firmly seat the adapter before use.
OPERATION
The tachometer will take a measurement (non-contact or contact) and store
the values in memory for review.
1. Press the measuring button (B) to begin measurement.
2. Release the measuring button to end measurement. All
measurement results are automatically stored.
3. Press the Hold button (D) and to show the Max. value, the Min.
value and the Last value.

NON-CONTACT MEASUREMENT PREPARATION
Cut reflective tape (I) into approx. 1/2 in. (12 mm) squares, peel the backing
off and apply one square to each rotation shaft.
1. The non-reflective area must always be greater than the reflective
area for an accurate reading.
2. If the shaft is normally reflective, it must be covered with black
tape or black paint before attaching reflective tape.
3. Shaft surface must be clean and smooth before applying
reflective tape.
NON-CONTACT MEASUREMENT WITH PHOTO
1. Apply a reflective mark to the object being measured, slide the
function switch (E) to RPM PHOTO position.
2. Depress the measuring button (B) and align the Signal light
beam (A) with the reflective markers. Ensure all markers are
passing through the light.
3. Release the measuring button when the display reading stabilizes
(approximately 2 seconds). The reading is complete.
Low RPM Measurement
Measuring a low RPM rotation shaft requires the following method:
1. Attach additional reflective marks. Try to space equally on the
rotation shaft.
2. Take a reading that allows all reflective mark to pass through the
laser beam.
3. Divide the reading shown on the LCD (C) by the number of
reflective marks to obtain the real RPM.

CONTACT ROTATIONAL SPEED MEASUREMENT
1. Slide the function switch to the RPM CONTACT position and
install the proper adapter (H).
2. Gently press the contact adapter to the centerpoint of the
rotating shaft.
3. Press the measure button until the reading stabilizes. Release the
measuring button.
4. Break contact with the rotating shaft. The reading is complete.
CONTACT LINEAR SPEED MEASUREMENT
1. Slide the function switch to m/min. and install the linear
speed adapter.
2. Press the linear speed adapter against the moving surface.
3. Press the measuring button until the reading stabilizes. Release
the measuring button.
4. Remove the linear speed adapter from the moving surface. The
reading is complete.
IMPORTANT! Measurements should be taken on the outer surface of a
cylinder when possible. The gauge difference between the outer and
inner surface may affect the reading. To obtain a slightly more accurate
reading of an inner surface, multiply the measurement result by 0.9 to
get an approximate RPM.
