on a network.

Uponpurchase(bydefault),thenetworkboard’sIPaddressandsubnetmaskarenotyetset.Whenfirstconnecting
thenetworkboardtoanetworktouseit,usethesimplenetworksettingstosetthenetworkboard’sIPaddresson
thenetworkfollowingtheprocedurebelow.

• Whenmakingnetworksettings,followingtheinstructionsofthenetworkadministrator.
• Itisnotpossibletoformatthecomputerstoragememoryfromthecomputer.
• Donotpressoperationbuttonsonthenetworkboardwhilethecomputerstoragememoryisbeingaccessedfromthecom-
puter.Doingsowillresultinincreasedtimeforresponsebetweenthecomputerandnetworkboard,andoperationsmaynot
bepossible.
Turn on the network board’s power and connect the network board’s computer USB port for
(type B) to the computer using a USB cable.
• Thestandarddriveris installedautomaticallyand thenetwork boardis recognizedbythecomputer asaremovable
device.
Open “My Computer”, and in this open the network board (removable device).
1 Double-clickthe“MyComputer”(or“Computer”)icontoopen.
2 Double-clickthenetworkboard(displayreferstomodelname)toopenthenetworkboard’scomputerstoragememory.
• Tocheckthatthenetworkboardisoperatingasadevice,right-click“MyComputer”(or“Computer”)todisplaythe
menu,then checkthat “PLUS Copyboard USB Device” isdisplayed asthe diskdrive name at “Management”→
“DeviceManager”forWindows7.
Use a program on the computer (Notepad, etc.) to open the “setting.ini” file in the “setup”
folder.
1 Double-clickthe“setup”foldertoopenit.
2 Openthe“setting.ini”file(textformat)locatedinthisfolderusingNotepadoranotherprogramonthecomputerand
directlyoverwritethecontentsofthesettingsfile.
• Theonlycharactersthatcanbeinputarenumbersandperiods.
Donotinsertanyspaces.Ifso,thefilewillbeidentifiedascorruptwhenthenetworkboardisstartedandtheset-
tingswillberesettothedefaults.

1 ConnectoneendoftheLANcabletotheLANportofthelower
side of the network board and connect the other end of the
LANcabletoanetworkdevicesuchasarouterandaswitch-
inghub.
2 Launch a web browser (ex.: Internet Explorer) on a computer
connectedtonetwork.
3 In the address field, input the IP address that was set or the
terminalnameofthenetworkboard,andthenpressthe[Enter]
key.
Whenthenetworkboardhasbeencorrectlyconnectedtonet-
work,theuserauthenticationscreenappears.
• Nopasswordissetuponpurchase.

If the network board’s top screen does not open
• HaveyoumadeamistakeinputtingtheIPaddressthatwasset?
• Isthenetworkboard’sLANterminalproperlyconnectedtoaLANportonthenetwork?
• Whenusingaproxyserver,addthenetworkboard’sIPaddresstothe“Exceptions”intheproxy’ssettingstosetso
thattheproxyisnotused.
IfDHCPissetto[Off](defaultsettinguponpurchase),theproblemmaybecausedbythefollowing:
• IstheIPaddressthatwassetbeingusedbyanotherdevice?
• Ifmultipleunitsofthisnetworkboardareconnected,aretheyconnectedtothenetworkwiththesameIPaddress?
• IstheIPaddressthatwassetwithintheautomaticacquisitionrangeoftheDHCPoftherouter,etc.?
Making Detailed Settings (via LAN)
Usethisproceduretomakethenetworkboarddevicesettings(“CBSetup”),networksettings,etc.,withthenetworkboardcon-
nectedtoalocalareanetwork(hereafterreferredtoas“LAN”or“thenetwork”)usingacomputer’swebbrowser.
Accessauthorityisrequiredtomakethedetailedsettings.Therearetwolevelsofauthority–“administratorauthority”and“filelist
browsingauthority”.Theselectablemenuitems(somesettingitems)arerestrictedaccordingly.Toregistertheadministrator,see
“AdministratorMenu—UserSetting”onpageE-15andtoregistertheuser,see“NetworkSetting—SaveSetting”onpageE-13.

• Dependingonthenetworkbeingused,thedisplayspeedandbuttonresponsemaybeslowandoperationsmaynotbe
performed. If this happens, consult your network administrator. Also, the network board may not respond if buttons are
operatedsuccessively.Inthiscase,waitawhilethenoperateagain.Ifthereisnoresponseafterawhile,turnoffthenetwork

• WithSSLenabledonHTTP,asecuritycertificatewarningisdisplayedwhenthiswebsiteisaccessedbytheWebbrowser.

Basic Setting Operations
Hereweexplainhowtodisplayandclosethesettingsscreens,usingtheInternetExplorerwebbrowserasanexample.
Preparations:
1.UseaLANcabletoconnectthenetworkboard’sLANterminaltotheLANportontheswitchinghub.
2.Turnonthenetworkboard’spower.
Launch the web browser on the computer con-
nected to the network.
“Pagecannotbedisplayed”mayinsomecasesappear,butsim-
plycontinuetothenextstep.
Setting before using a network
Input the network board’s IP address.
Inthewebbrowser’sURLfield,inputtheIPaddressthatwasset,
and then press the [Enter] key. Entry must be in alphanumeric
characters. When the network board has been correctly con-
nectedtonetwork,theuserauthenticationscreenappears.
InputtheUserNameandPassword,andthenclick[OK].
• Nopasswordissetuponpurchase.Input“admin”inalphanu-
mericcharactersintheUserNamefieldandclick[OK].
Note
• Theusernameandpasswordarecasesensitive.Besure
toinputthemproperly.
• The account is locked after three incorrect password
attempts. To unlock, unplug the power cord from the
poweroutletthenplugitbackin.
Connecting the network board to the network upon pur-
chase
Uponpurchase,thenetworkboard’sIPaddressandsubnetmask
are not yet set. Be sure to check the section “Simple Network
Settings(viaUSB)”(seepageE-4)andsettheIPaddress,etc.
From the menu, click the desired setting item.

When clicked, the settings/changes are sent to the network

• If the IP address in the network settings, etc., has been
changed,thenetworkboardreboots.(SeepageE-11.)
After making settings or changes, be sure to click the
“Setup” button to overwrite the previous settings on the
network board.
