1. SAFETY PRECAUTIONS

1.1. General Guide

1. Itisadvisabletoinsertanisolation transformerintheACsupply

beforeservicing ahotchassis.

2. Whenservicing, observetheoriginal leaddress, especiallythe

leaddress inthehigh voltagecircuits. Ifashortcircuitisfound,

replace all parts whichhavebeenoverheatedor damagedbythe

shortcircuit.

3. Afterservicing, see toitthat all theprotectivedevices suchas

insulation barriers, insulation papers, shields, and isolation R-C

combinations, areproperlyinstalled.

4. Whenthereceiverisnottobeusedfor along period oftime,

unplug thepowercord from theACoutlet.

5. Potential, as high as 32.0kV ispresentwhenthisreceiverisin

operation. Operation ofthereceiverwithouttherearcover

involves thedangerofashock hazard from thereceiverpower

supply. Servicing shouldnotbeattemptedbyanyonewho isnot

thoroughlyfamiliarwiththeprecautionsnecessarywhenworking

on high voltageequipment. Alwaysdischargetheanodeofthe

picturetubetothereceiverchassisbeforehandling thetube.

6. Afterservicing make thefollowing leakagecurrentchecks to

preventthecustomerfrom being exposedtoshock hazards.

1.2. LeakageCurrentColdCheck

1. Unplug theACcord and connect ajumperbetweenthetwo

prongson theplug.

2. Turn on thereceiver’spowerswitch.

3. Measuretheresistance value, withanohmmeter, betweenthe

jumperACplug and eachexposedmetalliccabinet parton the

receiver, suchas screwheads, aerials, connectors, control

shafts, etc. Whentheexposedmetallicparthas areturn pathto

thechassis, thereading shouldbebetween4M and 20 M .

Whentheexposedmetal does nothaveareturn pathtothe

chassis, thereading must beinfinite.

1.3. LeakageCurrentHotCheck (See Fig. 1)

1. Plug theACcord directlyintotheACoutlet. Donotuse an

isolation transformerfor thischeck.

2. Connect a2k , 10 Wresistor inseries withanexposedmetallic

parton thereceiverand anearthsuchas awaterpipe.

3. Use anACvoltmeter, withhigh impedance type, tomeasurethe

potential across theresistor.

4. Check eachexposedmetallicpart, and measurethevoltageat

eachpoint.

5. Reverse theACplug intheACoutlet and repeat eachoftheabove

measurements.

6. Thepotential anypointshouldnotexceed1.0V rms. Inthecase

ofameasurementbeing outsideofthelimits specified, thereisa

possibilityofashock hazard, and thereceivershouldberepaired

and recheckedbeforeitisreturnedtothecustomer.

1.4. X-Radiation

Warning :

1. Thepotential sources ofX-Radiation inTV sets aretheEHT

section and thepicturetube. /

2. Whenusing apicturetubetest rigfor service, ensurethat therig

iscapableofhandling 32.0kV withoutcausing X-Radiation. /

Note:Itis important to use anaccurate periodicallycalibratedhigh voltage meter. /

1. Set thebrightness tominimum.

2. MeasuretheHigh Voltage. Themeterreading shouldindicate 31.0

±1kV. Ifthemeterindication isoutoftolerance, immediate

service and correction isrequiredtopreventthepossibilityof

prematurecomponentfailure.

3. TopreventthepossibilityofX-Radiation, itisessential touse the

specifiedpicturetube.

2. SERVICE HINTS

2.1. HOWTO REMOVE THE REARCOVER

1. Removethe9screwsas showninFig. 1.

Fig. 1

2.2. LOCATIONOFCONTROLS Fig. 2

2.3. HOWTO MOVE THE CHASSIS INTO SERVICE POSITION

1. Holdand lift therearofthechassisand gentlypull thechassis

towardsyou as showninFig. 3.

2. Release therespectivewiring clipsand rotate thechassis

verticallythrough 90° anticlockwise.

3. Afterservicing replace thebeadclamperand ensureall wiring is

returnedtoits original position beforereturning thereceiverto

thecustomer.

2.4. HOTELMODE

Purpose

1. AtHotels, thisModeprevents thecustomerfrom changing theTV

preset data suchas Channel preset data. / / Note:ThisModeis

useful for Hotels. You shouldnotget into“Hotel mode”with

Normal use.

Operation

1. Toget into“Hotel Mode”, press theremote control “Recall”

button and Channel Up“[+/ ]”keyon theTV set

simultaneously, aftersetting the“Off-Timer” mode.

2. Inthismode, theChannel Upand DownFunction will beenabled
