3General safety
Please read all safety instructions and directions. Failure to comply with the safety instructions and
directions can cause electric shock, fire and/or serious injuries. Please retain all safety instructions and
directions for future reference.
3.1 Intended use
The chargers are only suitable for charging MAFELL rechargeable battery packs.
The safety regulations applicable in the country of use and other generally recognized safety and occupational
health rules must be observed.
3.2 Foreseeable misuse
The device is not intended for any other use than the intended use listed above.
The manufacturer is not liable for any damage resulting from such other use.
To use the device as intended, comply with the operating, maintenance and repair conditions specified by
MAFELL.
Foreseeable misuse also includes:
- Using the device outdoors, in the rain and under wet conditions, or in potentially explosive atmospheres.
- Unauthorized modifications of the device.
- Non-observance of safety and warning instructions in the operating instructions.
- Removing the safety and warning labels on the device.
- Operation of the device by unauthorized persons.
- Failure to follow prescribed maintenance and care instructions.

3.3 Safety instructions
READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS!
Non-observance of the instructions listed below can cause electric shock, fire and/or serious injuries
.
- Before each use, check the device, the cable and the plug. Do not continue using the device when you
notice any damage. Have the repair carried out only by a specialist. Never open the device yourself.
- Store the device in a dry and frost-proof place. Never operate the device when it is damp or in a damp
environment.
- Never store the rechargeable battery pack together with metallic objects. There is a risk of a short
circuit.
- Never charge third-party rechargeable batteries. The device is only suitable for charging MAFELL
lithium-ion batteries with a voltage of 18 V.
- Never charge a damaged rechargeable battery pack. Replace a damaged rechargeable battery
immediately.
- Watch out for battery fluid leaking from damaged rechargeable battery packs. Rinse immediately with
plenty of water if battery fluid gets in contact with your skin. If battery fluid gets into your eyes, wash your
eyes with clean water and seek medical attention immediately.
- Never reach into the device with objects that can conduct electricity. There is a risk of electric shock as
there is mains voltage in certain areas.
- Never dispose of used rechargeable battery packs in a fire or in the household waste. Defective or
exhausted rechargeable batteries must be collected separately and recycled in an environmentally friendly
manner.
- Use only genuine MAFELL spare parts, accessories and special accessories. Failure to do so will
make warranty claims and the liability of the manufacturer null and void.
- Never hold or suspend the device by the cable.
- Children and adolescents are not allowed to operate this device.

4Startup
The charger is class-II insulated.
Prior to starting operation with the charger, ensure that the ventilation slots are unobstructed. The minimum
distance to other objects is 5 cm [1.97 in].
4.1 Mains connection
Prior to starting up the device, check to ensure that the mains voltage corresponds to the operating voltage
specified on the rating plate of the machine.
Devices like this one that generate DC current could affect simple residual current circuit breakers. Use a type
F RCCB or better, an RCCB with a tripping current of max. 30 mA.
4.2 Selftest
1. Insert the power plug into a power outlet.
➢Warning indicator (2) and operating
indicator (3) light up in succession for
approx. 1 second. The integrated fan runs
for approx. 5 seconds.

5Operation
Charging the rechargeable battery:
1. Push the rechargeable battery pack on the
sliding seat (1) as far as it will go.
➢The operating indicator (3) blinks.

Trickle charge:
➢Once charging has been completed, the
charger automatically switches over to
trickle charging. The rechargeable battery
pack can remain in the charger and is thus
always ready for use. The operating
indicator (3) shines continuously.

6Service and maintenance
Always keep the device clean.
Repair work must be carried out by your dealer or MAFELL Customer Service.
A damaged power cord must be replaced by MAFELL Customer Service, as special tools are required for this
work.
7Troubleshooting
Some of the most common malfunctions and their causes are listed below. For other malfunctions, please
contact your dealer or MAFELL Customer Service directly.
