LH314: FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
How many screws come with the system?
The system comes with 2 screws. You only need two screws to mount the system to the back of
an LCD monitor with a VESA mount and independent stand.
Is there a software CD included with the system?
No. The browser-based remote software is built into the system.
NOTE: Some systems may include a Documentation CD. Only the Instruction Manual and Quick
Start Guide are included on this CD.
What is my ID and password?
By default, your system ID is 2; your password is 2222. This is the administrator ID and password.
For details on IDs and passwords, see “Managing Passwords” on page 17.
My system is not connecting to my local network.
Power off your system and connect the included Ethernet cable to the LAN port on the rear panel,
then power your system back on.
1. Press the button twice on the remote control to open the System Information screen on
the DVR. Under LAN, find the IP address of your system.
2. On your PC, click Start and select Run. In the Run window, enter cmd and click OK. The
Command Prompt window opens.
ATTENTION: Before attempting to connect locally or remotely (over the Internet), you must
have a router in order to network the system.

3. Type ipconfig and press Enter. Your network information appears (see figure). You may need
to enter some of this information in your system’s LAN settings.
4. Check that the third set of numbers of the IP address in the IP config window and your
system’s System Information screen are
the same
. If they are the
same
, you should be able to
connect to your local network (QuickTime configuration is still necessary, however). If the IP
address are
different
, you need to change the IP address on your system. Go to step 5.
5. On the system, click to open the Main Menu. Click LAN.
6. Under IP, select the third field (001) and enter the third set of numbers from the IP address in
the Command Prompt window. Under Gateway, select the third field (001) and enter the third
set of numbers from the Default Gateway in the Command Prompt window Right-click to exit
all menus to save your settings (or press ESC on the remote control).
The third set of numbers from the IP
address should match those in the IP
address of your PC.
In this example, our PC shows

our DVR show

. Therefore, we need to
edit the IP address and Gateway
information on the DVR.
NOTE: The third set of numbers in
IP and Gateway in your LAN
settings MUST MATCH the third
set of numbers in IP address and
DefaultGatewayfromtheIPConfig
results in the Command Prompt
window. You do not need to change
any of the other sets of numbers.
NOTE: In this example, we
changed the default digit from
001
to 011
in order to match the IP
address and Default Gateway in
ipconfig.

7. Press the button twice on the remote control to open the System Information screen on
the DVR. Confirm that your changes have been saved.
For complete information on setting up local and remote viewing, please refer to Appendix B of
your system instruction manual.
How do I access my system over the Internet?
Once you are able to connect your system to your local network, Prior to using remote viewing,
you must log in to your system and enter the DDNS information from your Lorex DDNS
confirmation email.
NOTE: We strongly recommend registering for Lorex’s free DDNS service prior to using remote
viewing. For more details on registering for DDNS service, please refer to "Setting Up DDNS
Service" in Appendix B of the system’s instruction Manual.
To enable DDNS on your system:
1. Open Internet Explorer (version 6 or above) and enter the IP address of your DVR in the
address bar (i.e. 192.168.xxx.89). DVR Netviewer opens.
2. Login using your LAN user ID and password (by default, ID 9; password 3333). Click . The
Setup menu opens.
3. Under Network, click DDNS.
ATTENTION: To access your system over the Internet, the HTTP port and QuickTime port of
your system MUST be port forwarded on your router—(by default ports 80 and 8090). Each
router is different, so port forwarding settings vary by model. Please refer to the Lorex Port
Forwarding Guide (www.lorexcctv.com/support and then click Consumer Guides) for help
on port forwarding your router. If your router is not listed, please refer to your router's
manual or contact your router's manufacturer for assistance.

4. Under DDNS Select, click the drop-down menu and select http://lorexddns.net
5. In the corresponding text fields, enter your DDNS username and password.
NOTE: Obtain this information from the confirmation email after registering for the free Lorex
DDNS service.
6. Under DDNS Domain Name, enter only the first portion of your DDNS domain from the
confirmation email. For example, if your domain name is tomsmith@lorexddns.net, you only
need to enter
tomsmith
in the text field.
7. Click Submit to save your settings or click Cancel to exit without saving.
8. You must reset your DVR in order for the changes to take effect. Disconnect and reconnect
the power cable from the rear panel to reset.
NOTE: Please allow 10~15 minutes for the DDNS servers to update with your new URL. This is
normal for a DDNS system.
Now that you have configured your DDNS settings, you should be able to log in to your system
from a remote PC (i.e. a PC not on your local network).
NOTE: The PC used for remote viewing requires Internet Explorer 6 or later and QuickTime.
QuickTime must be configured to the necessary settings.

ATTENTION: You MUST
enter your DDNS
information LOCALLY
before attempting
remote access.

To log in using DDNS:
1. Using a remote PC, open Internet Explorer.
2. In the address bar, enter your DDNS URL.
NOTE: Obtain your DDNS URL from your confirmation email.
3. Enter your LAN ID and password to log in to your system (by default, admin ID: 9; password
3333).
NOTE: If you are having problems connecting using DDNS, check that you have port forwarded
ports 80 and 8090 on your router.
My system beeps whenever I press buttons on the remote control
or click the mouse.
This is the default function of the system. It cannot be disabled.
ATTENTION: For added security, we
strongly recommend
changing HTTP port 80 on the
system to
any desired port
—the
port must
not blocked by your Internet service provider
(ISP). Please contact your ISP for complete information on available ports in your area.
For complete information on changing ports on your system, please see Appendix C in your
system’s Instruction Manual.
