Quick-Install Guide

5x8 Multi-Switch

The 5x8 Multi-Switch distributes satellite signals from incoming LNB’s to

up to eight satellite receivers. It is designed to work with all DIRECTV Dish

Antenna Systems and all generations of DIRECTV satellite receivers. The

module also incorporates a separate input to receive TV antenna or CATV

signals.

The 5x8 Multi-Switch can be installed horizontally or vertically within any Leviton

Structured Media Center (SMC).

For horizonal mounting, snap the supplied grommets in to the locations marked

‘H’. See Figure 1.

For vertical mounting, snap the supplied grommets in to the locations marked ‘V’.

See Figure 2.

Insert the pin plungers in to all 4 locations. With the mounting pin plungers in the

out position, press the unit into the grid in the desired locations. Final setting is

made by pressing the plunger head in to lock it in place.

Connect the cables from the satellite dish to the multi-switch as shown in Figure

3. Connect cables going to the satellite receivers to the “receiver 1 through 8”

connectors.

Never install communications wiring or components during a

lightning storm

Never install communications components in wet locations unless

components are designed speciﬁcally for use in wet locations.

Never touch uninsulated wires or terminals unless the wiring has been

disconnected at the network interface.

components.

The UHF/VHF input may be used to receive TV antenna or CATV signals. When

combining incoming TV antenna or CATV signals with the incoming satellite signal,

it is necessary to use a diplexer to separate out signals before connecting to the

satellite receivers.

For the power connection to the multiswitch:

Make a coax jumper cable of the desired length.

Connect one end of the jumper to the power connection on the

multiswitch.

Connect the other end of the jumper to the included power transformer.

Plug the power transformer into a powered outlet.

Note: Power the multiswitch using the included power supply only, do

not power the multiswitch until all other connections are made.
