3.2 General safety notes
Woodworking machines can be dangerous if not used
properly. Therefore the appropriate general technical rules
as well as the following notes must be observed.

4
Read and understand the entire instruction manual before
attempting assembly or operation.
Keep this operating instruction close by the machine,
protected from dirt and humidity, and pass it over to the new
owner if you part with the tool.
No changes to the machine may be made.
Daily inspect the function and existence of the safety
appliances before you start the machine.
Do not attempt operation in this case, protect the machine
by unplugging the mains cord.
Remove all loose clothing and confine long hair.
Before operating the machine, remove tie, rings, watches,
other jewellery, and roll up sleeves above the elbows.

Control the stopping time of the machine, it may not be
longer than 10 seconds.
Remove cut and jammed workpieces only when motor is
turned off and the machine is at a complete standstill.
Install the machine so that there is sufficient space for safe
operation and workpiece handling.
Keep work area well lighted.
The machine is designed to operate in closed rooms and
must be placed stable on firm and levelled ground.
Make sure that the power cable does not impede work and
cause people to trip.
Keep the floor around the machine clean and free of scrap
material, oil and grease.
Stay alert!
Give your work undivided attention. Use common sense.
Keep an ergonomic body position.
Maintain a balanced stance at all times.
Pull the mains plug if the tool is not in use.
Pull the mains plug prior to any maintenance or change of
cutting knives.
Before starting the machine make sure that operating and

keep your hands at a safe distance from the cutter block.
Always cover the part of the cutter block that is not covered
by the work piece with the cutter block guard.
Adjust the cutter block guard exactly to the dimension of the
work piece.
Never reach with your hands under the cutter block guard
when guiding the work piece!
Plane only stock which rests securely on the table.
Work pieces shorter than 200mm require special feeding
aids for planing (e.g. feeding template).
Never plane a work piece if it cannot be guided with a
sufficient distance to the cutter block.
Do not pull the work piece back over the unguarded cutter
block.
Specifications regarding the maximum or minimum size of
the work piece must be observed.

block and thrown back to the operator.
Drawing-in/trapping hazard by power feed mechanism.
Squeezing hazard by workpiece power-outfeed.
Thrown workpiece parts can lead to injury
Sawdust and noise can be health hazards. Be sure to wear

Attach the planer outfeed extension table (J) to the main
planer table (F4) with three socket head cap screws (AA)
and flat washers (HH). Tighten screws with 5mm hex
wrench.
Extension table adjustment
Two setscrews located underneath the extension table (J)
are used to adjust the height position of the outer
(protruding) edge, which must be slightly higher than the
main planer table (F4) in order to minimize snipe.
Using a 4mm hex wrench (provided), turn setscrews slightly
clockwise to raise the table.

5.3 Mains connection
Mains connection and any extension cords used must
comply with applicable regulations.
The mains voltage must comply with the information on the
machine licence plate.
The mains connection must have a 16 A surge-proof fuse.
Only use connection cables marked H05VV-F
Connections and repairs to the electrical equipment may
only be carried out by qualified electricians.
5.4 Dust connection
Before initial operation, the machine must be connected to a
dust extractor.
5.5 Starting operation
You can start and stop the machine with the ON/OFF-button
(H, Fig7).
In case of machine overload the motor overload cut-off (G)
will react.
After appr.5 min of cooling the overload cut off can be reset.
6. Machine operation
6.1 Jointing and planing
Disconnect machine from power source before making any
adjustments. Failure to comply may cause serious injury.

opening.
Position the chute (B) such that the 2 positioning pins and
the positioning screw meshes with the positioning holes on
the table (F1).
Raise the table until the dust chute (B) is held firmly in place
between the planer infeed table (F1) and jointer outfeed
table (F2). Do not overtighten.
Tighten lock handle (U).

10
Step 8 is optional:
Further secure the dust chute by reinstalling the hex nut
(B1) and flat washer (B2) from underneath the planer infeed
table (F1).
Remove handle (S).
Important:
Dust chute (B) must be properly installed in both jointer-
planer and thicknesser setup.
If improper installation fails to activate a micro-switch, the
machine will not start.
