PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Production Overview
In order to collect access cards from visitors leaving a building, IDL have created the Visitor Card
Return System. Staff can use a card reader mounted behind the frosted acrylic window. Visitors
however are invited to place their access card in the return slot. The card is drawn in and slowly
passes a secondary card reader which authorises their exit. The cards are then dropped in to a
locked tray where they can be collected by a guard at a later stage
Technical Description
The Card Retrieval System consists of a Motor Card, a drive system and frame. The purpose of
the frame is to guide the cards over the card reader and into the card bin.
Power (12Vdc) is applied to the Motor Card, which in turn powers the Motor/Drive Belt. The
speed of the Motor and the length of time the Motor Drives can both be set on the Motor Card.

As cards are pushed into the card slot, they will break an infra-red beam. This is the trigger that
starts the drive belt. The beam is produced by a transmit LED fitted to the frame, and a receive
diode fitted to the Motor Card.

Cards can be collected from the Card Bin at the bottom, via an external, key-locked doorway.
The system is delivered fitted to the Fastlane®Pedestal, and should not need any
adjustment/connections. The Power input will already be connected to the 12Vdc output from the
CAT5 Interface Card.

The connections/settings on the Motor Card are as follows:
•+L- will be connected to the Transmit LED. The polarity must always be observed.
•+M- will be connected to the Motor, via a terminal block. The polarity must always be
observed.
•+DC- will be connected to the CAT5 Interface Card. The polarity must always be
observed.
•VR1 adjusts the Motor Speed.
•VR2 adjusts the Motor Time Period.
•D1 is the receive diode, fitted over a hole in the Motor Card. This must always have direct
line-of-sight to the Transmit LED.
•LED1 is a power indicator. If this is not on, then check the power.
