These tting and User Instructions refer to the following models:

AP25LM AP50LM AP75LM AP100LM

The HYCO Apollo series is a range of white enamelled cistern fed rectangular water storage

heaters. All HYCO Apollo units can be connected directly to the cold water main and if required,

can supply more than one outlet without the need for special taps.

WARNING!

-The appliance is not to be used by children or persons with reduced physical, sensory or

mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given

supervision or instruction.

-Children should be supervised and not allowed to play with the appliance.

-Maximum water pressure 690kPa

THESE INSTRUCTIONS SHOULD BE CAREFULLY READ AND UNDERSTOOD BEFORE

INSTALLATION BEGINS. IT WOULD BE DANGEROUS TO PROCEED IF ANY PART IS

UNCLEAR OR IF THE REQUIREMENTS CANNOT BE FULLY MET.

PLEASE LEAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS WITH THE USER AFTER INSTALLATION.

INSTALLATION

WALL MOUNTING (refer to diagram A).

The unit is designed to be wall mounted and must be tted at least one metre above the

highest draw-off point thus ensuring a good ow. It is important that sufcient clearance is

allowed to ensure access to the ball valve assembly.

The wall xing points will accept 8mm bolts which should not be less than 50mm in length.

ALWAYS ENSURE THAT THE WALL IS SUFFICIENTLY STRONG TO CARRY THE WEIGHT

OF THE UNIT WHEN IT IS FULL OF WATER.

PIPEWORK CONNECTIONS (refer to Diagram B).

The installation must conform to all local authority byelaws. The cold water supply and warning

pipe (overow) assembly can be connected to either side of the unit. The respective apertures

are pre-formed in the outer case and these should be used as guides for cutting through the

cold water tank. A 22mm hole is required for the inlet and a 27mm hole for the warning pipe.

An isolating valve must be tted to the cold water mains supply to allow for servicing.

FITTING TO THE COLD WATER TANK (refer to Diagram C).

The HYCO Apollo series of water heaters are supplied with all the components that are required

to comply with the WRC bylaw 30. The arrangement of these should conform to Diagram C.

The lter and breather assembly is a push snap-t connection and should be tted to the lid in

the aperture provided.

The warning pipe assembly (overow) has three components. The threaded elbow (tank

connector) is inserted through the hole that has been cut, and tightened with the nut and

sealing washer on the inside of the tank.

The 90o bend internal “dip tube” is pushed rmly into the connector facing downwards. The

warning pipe (overow) screen is located securley into the downwards external connection of

the connector.

The ball valve assembly is tted as required, adjusting the oat to ensure that the water level

in the tank does not exceed the water level line.

NOTE: after installation, replace lid and secure with the retaining screw supplied.

ELECTRICAL CONNECTION

The Installation should be carried out by a suitably qualied person in accordance with BS 7671

(IEE) wiring regulations.

A double pole isolation switch having a contact separation of greater than 3mm should be tted

to allow for servicing.

IMPORTANT: The unit MUST be full of water before switching on the electricity supply.

The HYCO Apollo water heaters are all tted with a 3kW heating element. The heating element

is located at the base of the unit. The heating element incorporates dual thermostats that are

linked to act as a control thermostat with an over-temperature safety cut-out. The thermostats

are factory set to 50oC for the control thermostat and 70oC for the cut-out thermostat.

The control thermostat should NOT exceed 60oC and the 20oC differential between the control

and cut-out thermostat MUST be maintained.

The supply cable should be securely clamped before replacing the heating unit’s own cover AND

as it passes through the gland in the element housing cover.

If during normal service, the cut-out thermostat operates rst establish the reason for

operation. Possibly a wrongly set control thermostat. Switch off the electricity supply before

removing the element housing cover. Correct the problem and then press the button to reset

the cut-out thermostat. Replace the heating unit cover and the element housing cover before

switching on the electricity supply.

OPERATION

The cold water supply to the integral cistern is controlled by the ball valve. when one or more

hot taps are opened the hot water drawn from the unit is replaced from the contents of the cold

water cistern that is relled automatically.

COMMISSIONING

Before making the electrical connection it is recommended that the unit is lled and checked

for leaks. Apart from the plumbing connections, the element or drain may have been loosened

in transit and require tightening,

SAFETY WARNING

The unit MUST NOT be used if it is suspected of being frozen. If water caeses to ow switch off

electricity supply immediatley at the isolating switch. If the unit is to be serviced or drained

disconnect the electricity supply before commencing the operation.

Goods are guaranteed for one year against faulty design, materials or workmanship having

properly installed and operated in accordance with these instructions. The Company has the

option to replace or repair an entire product or component. The Company shall not for any

liable for any consequential loss or damage howsoever caused. It shall be the duty of the

customer to insure against such consequential loss or damage.

The guarantee does not extend to the consequences of limescale deposits, corrosion or frost

damage which the manufacturer has no control and for which the user is advised to take

appropriate precautions. This guarantee does not affect the statutory rights of the consumer.
