Input Frequency Band Support
Basically BD-300 can support any frequency input under from 100MHz~2.6 GHz, it only
depends on the performance of the front end pre-AMP LNA. There are two LNA’s, the
low frequency band MAX2691 and the high frequency band MAX2644.

Refer to the specifications of the pre-AMPLNA Maxim MAX2644 / MAX2691 for further details.
The following range is for reference based on >10dB gain for the pre-AMP LNAaccording to the
LNAspec. However, it should be much wider in the real test.

H/W installation
1. Connect the RF-in to; Depending the band of the RF-in, please connect the RF-in to either 1.2G
or 2.4G SMA connector.
2. Depending on the input frequency of the RF-in, set LO band switch properly,
(Select the LO which is nearest to the input frequency)
If you set by J12 jumper,
A. J12 HIGH (short pin 2 & 3):1.2G band (default LO=1050 MHz)
B. J12 Low (short pin 1 & 2) :2.4G band (default LO=1800 MHz)
If you set by external switch,
A. Set switch toward 1.2G RF-in connector if 1.2G band (default LO=1050 MHz)
B. Set switch toward 2.4G RF-in connector if 2.4G band (default LO=1800 MHz)

3. Make sure the Config Switch J4 is open.
4. Apply power, there are two ways to apply DC power, you may select one (and only one)
A. USB power adaptor (5V DC in)*1
B. Use 12V DC power on cable (from the RF-output SMA connector)*2
5. When the power is on, the down converted RF is present on the RF-output connector.
*1Note: When using USB power, the USB cable should be as short as possible and don’t use thin USB cable.
Because of high power consumption, long USB cable will cause high voltage drop and BD-300 may become
unstable.
*2Note: when 12V DC power input from the RF-output port, there is a PWM noise from 0~250MHz while
USB connector (+5V) power input does not have this issue. It’s recommended to use USB connector (+5V)
power input if the target converted channel frequency is <300MHz. Refer to the picture below.

LO (Local Oscillator) Configuration
BD-300’s LO can be configured with a PC Windows tool.
There are two LO settings, one for 1.2G band, and the other for 2.4G band.
Configurable LO range 1050~2300MHz
First of all, please set J4 Config Switch ON
Then, connect the USB port to a Windows laptop PC.

Note: if there are multiple devices listed (UT-100, UT-200…), please remove all other devices except
BD-300.
Or else, it may pops up error message when “Connect”.
If device connected well, click on “Read EEPROM”to retrieve the original settings.
Input 1.2G or 2.4 G LO frequencies properly, and click on “Write EEPROM”.
Valid LO range is from 1050~2300MHz.
