Installation
Find the BLACK, 4-pole male diagnostic connector (KDS) in the tail section of
the bike. Normally it has a “dummy” female plug (without wires) attached to it.
Note:YoumayfindTWOofthisconnectoronyourbike.In this case, try both
connectors, butonlyoneofthemwillsupplydatatotheGIpro.Itwillnotharm
your bike if you connect the GIpro to the wrong plug first.
Remove the dummy female plug, and connect the GIpro plug.
Route the cable to the mounting location.
Peel off the green plastic from the back of the unit, and mount the display.
Secure the cable with the cable ties supplied.
Setup
This unit comes pre-programmed for your motorcycle. It is fully functional after
installation.Whenignitionisturnedon,thedisplaycountsforward(1to6)andit
will show the gear selected.
The GPDS-K03 model has two operating modes:
-Factory mode (default, no need to teach the GIpro)
-Custom mode (learning procedure must be performed)
Use the Custom mode only if some gears are not indicated correctly.
Note: This product will not work in Factory mode if there is a TRE device installed
on the motorcycle, or the Gear Position Switch of the bike is faulty or modified.
Custom mode:
-Perform the Reset procedure as described in the next chapter.
-Turn ignition On. The display counts backwards (6 to 1) indicating that
the unit is in Custom mode and it is ready to learn the gear positions.
-Raise the rear wheel off the ground by using a stand, and start the
engine in Neutral.
-The display will blink “1”.
Select first gear, release the clutch, and keep the RPM above idle speed.
The display is blinking faster while the unit is learning the gear.
-When the display shows “2”, select second gear.
Repeat this process until all gears are thought (5 or 6).
If your bike has 5 gears, wait until “6” is blinking, then pull the clutch in
and turn ignition off.
If your bike has 6 gears, wait until “o” (over) is indicated.
The unit is programmed and should indicate the gears correctly.
Now, when ignition is turned on, the display counts forward (1 to 6) indicating
that it is fully functional.
