Installation

Before working on combine or under header always:

1. Perform all combine and header manufacturer

safety precautions for servicing header.

2. Insert stop to prevent movement of header.

3. Turn off combine and remove key from ignition.

4. Set combine parking brake.

5. Disconnect all drive shafts from the header.

JD combines and heads 2016have the check valve for the deck plate circuit

moved to the head. Older heads may need to have this block added to prevent

deck plate drift on newer combines. Older combines may need the check valve

removed to prevent jerky motion with newer heads. See your JD dealer.

Installation

Terrace Sensors (if equipped)

1. Line up holes of sensor and mounting bracket with spring

installed short leg up and long leg back in mounting bracket.

• Use HT7138 bracket

2. Insert pin and secure with retaining ring clip.

3. Install cable clamp on sensor harness & leveling bolt A

as shown in pictures, and install bolt in sensor body.

• Clamp should be under jam nut against sensor body

4. Adjust leveling bolt A until sensor is level and tighten

jam nut down against clamp & sensor body.

• Make sure clamp stays in position shown

5. Tighten bolt B holding clamp on side of sensor.

6. Remove standard crop divider tip.

7. Using provided hardware, bolt the HT641 large

round bar bracket in place of the crop divider

• Install bar with the front end bent downward

8. Bolt the terrace sensor/bracket assembly

to the end of the rod.

9. Repeat for other end of header

Installation

Standard Undermount Sensors

1. Determine sensor mounting location.

2. Mount outer sensors first, mounting out as far as

possible (if not equipped with terrace option).

• Mount all inner sensors as evenly spaced

as possible across the head

• To avoid clearance issues you may need to pre-

assemble sensor and mounting brackets

3. Mount sensors to existing header brackets

with 5/16” hardware provided.

• Leave hardware loose for routing of wiring

4. Mount left and right outer sensors/bracket

assembly to skid plates as shown.

• Make sure that draper belt will not hit the sensor bracket

5. Mount inner sensor/bracket assemblies to brackets as shown.

• Make sure the draper belt will not hit the sensor bracket

• For headers 40 ft or wider it may be necessary to drill

holes and mount the brackets directly to the skid plate

behind the cutter bar to keep the sensors spaced evenly

Routing Wiring

1. Select appropriate wiring from chart below and mark blue connector with sensor position.

Properly routing the wiring is the most critical part of the installation process.

Please take time to ensure that you have allowed sufficient slack for motion

as well as sufficient clearance from moving header parts or crop flow.

Terrace sensors add a PFB10 extension harness to route from the sensor back to

the end panel and an additional standard extension harness to route to near the

feederhouse. All undermount sensors use only one standard extension harness.

Removing Wires for Tight Access

When routing the wiring, there may be times when you would like to route the wiring

through a small hole. You may remove the Weatherpack connector by using the following

procedure. This step is NOT required; it is only shown to aid installation as needed.

1. Release wire retaining clip on each connector. Insert

removal tool and pull each wire out of connector.

2. Flare connector terminal tabs using removal tool.

3. Reinstall wires in connector body:

• Black or Blue into A

• White into B

• Green or Pink into C

4. Latch wire retaining clip.

5. Connect wiring harness to sensor.
