Electronics
Although capable of producing classic Jazz tones
courtesy of the Godin GJN1 mini humbucking pickup,
the Multiac Jazz has the power to take you far beyond
traditional Jazz guitar sounds. Each saddle in the
bridge is actually a transducer supported by an on-
board preamp and graphic EQ.
The crystalline sounds produced by the bridge trans-
ducers can be used on their own, or very effectively in
combination with the humbucker. A small dose of the
bridge output can be combined with the mellow sound-
ing humbucker to produce added note definition often
missing in traditional archtop guitar sounds. The
Multiac Jazz also includes hexaphonic output, which
provides direct access to Roland GR-SeriesTM synths
and the various V guitar products that RolandTM has
developed around the same 13-pin interface.

bucker. Une dose modérée de la sortie chevalet peut
être jumelée au son doux du humbucker afin d'obtenir
une définition sonore accrue, élément si souvent
absent des sons produits par les guitares dont la table
d'harmonie est bombée. La Multiac Jazz est égale-
ment dotée d'une sortie hexaphonique permettant
ainsi l'accès direct aux synthétiseurs de la Série GR
de RolandMC et aux nombreux produits V-Guitar
développés par RolandMC et compatibles avec cette
même interface à 13 broches.

The Multiac Jazz features a regular output jack
(Output #1) for the neck humbucker. This jack carries
the signal of the humbucker exclusively. In this config-
uration the guitar works in a conventional manner with
a master volume and master tone control.

Humbucker and Bridge Transducers - 1 Cord in
the Mix output (Output #2)
The second output jack (Output #2) is a mix output.
When this output is used alone it carries both the
humbucker signal as well as the signal from the bridge
transducers. When using this mix output the volume
control becomes a master volume for both the hum-
bucker and the bridge transducers. In this case your
volume slider (see diagram) is a mix/blend control for
the humbucker and bridge pickups. The tone control
only affects the humbucker.

If both output jacks are used the mix output (output
#2) becomes a dedicated bridge transducer output.
This feature enables you to separate the humbucker
sound from the output of the bridge transducers and
run them through separate mixer channels. When
these two outputs are used the volume knob is used
to control the humbucker volume and the slider vol-
ume is now used to control the bridge transducers.

13 pin cable - 3 Voices (output #3)
The 13 pin cable can carry all three signals—humbucker,
bridge transducers and of course the hexaphonic signal
for the synth. All of which are then ouput from the audio
out of your GR-Series synth into a PA/mixer or amp.
When strictly using the 13 pin connector the on-board
electronics work as follows:
Bridge volume, treb - mid - bass for transducer bridge, synth
volume, program up/down (Equivalent to Roland S1/S2), mid
selector 700 or 1600 Hz, humbucker volume, tone. (see dia
gram)

et bien sûr, le signal hexaphonique pour le synthétiseur.
Ces trois signaux deviennent également la sortie audio

sonorisation, au mélangeur ou à l'amplificateur. Voici
comment fonctionnent les composantes électroniques
lorsque vous utilisez uniquement la prise 13 broches:

You can use all three outputs to carry out a dedicated
signal into three different channels or amp sources
(See diagram). The same on-board configuration as
the previous page applies in this situation as well.

Changing the battery
The active electronics for the bridge transducer sys-
tem are powered by a single 9-volt battery accessible
via a small compartment on the back of the guitar. The
preamp is activated when you plug the guitar in.
Therefore, to avoid draining the battery please make
sure to unplug your jacks when the guitar will not be
used for a long period of time. If the sound of the
bridge transducers starts to sound thin and fuzzy you
are overdue for a battery change. Battery life is
approximately 300 hours.
Care and Maintenance
The Multiac Jazz neck is reinforced by a sophisticated
truss rod system, the truss rod provides for easy
adjustment when the neck reacts to changes in rela-
tive humidity. Truss rod adjustments should only be
made by a qualified guitar technician. To avoid dry-
ing out your fingerboard apply lemon oil on a soft cloth
and then to your fingerboard. Allow the ebony to soak
in the oil for a few minutes before removing the
excess. This should be done with the strings removed
and at least once every year. The easiest way to keep
your guitar clean is by simply using a polishing cloth
without using any polishes at all. However if you are
going to use a polish please use a non-abrasive non-
wax based polish. Apply the polish on a cloth first. Do
not spray it directly on to the guitar. After you have pol-
ished the area you are working on turn the cloth over
to a 'dry' side and remove any excess residue.
Wood reacts to changes in humidity. Too much dry-
ness or moisture in the air can have a negative affect
on your guitar.
Here are a few suggestions:
Maintain a relative humidity of approximately 45%.
This is easily accomplished with a small case humidifi-
er available at any music store. They are affordable
and a great investment.
If your guitar is exposed to extreme temperature
changes do not open your case without first allowing
the temperature in the case to slowly return to normal.
This will help prevent finish checking.
