THANK YOU FOR CHOOSING GENARAY
The Genaray Contender is a compact and versatile light
that’s ideal for still and tabletop photography, interviews,
and portraits. It features dense matrix LED technology that
furnishes a high-powered beam from a small array and
eliminates multiple shadows that are common in LED lighting.
It offers a brightness range of 100% to 10%, along with a high
CRI for precise color accuracy and rendering. The daylight
fixture’s color temperature is set to a constant 5600 K. The
bicolor fixture generates a color temperature range from 5600
to 3200 K that can be adjusted in 100 K increments for the
ideal color temperature to match other fixtures in the studio.
The integrated Fresnel lens allows the beam to be focused
from a concentrated 25° spot to a wide 55° flood. For
additional control, the barndoor attachment shapes the beam
while minimizing light spill. A tungsten filter is included with
the daylight fixture if a warmer light is needed, or to match
the color temperature of other tungsten-balance fixtures.
This compact and versatile light boasts an advanced
modular design that permits quick switching from AC
to DC power. The LED array generates minimal heat
so the fixture can be positioned close to subjects over
extended periods without burning or overheating them.

MOUNTING THE
CONTENDER
The Contender can be mounted directly to
a light stand, a tripod head with an Arca-
style clamp, or the included ball head.
LIGHT STAND
The Contender is equipped with
1/4- and 3/8-inch threaded receivers.
To mount the contender directly to a
light stand, screw the Contender onto
the light stand’s threaded post.
ARCA-STYLE CLAMP
Loosen the locking knob of the Arca-
style clamp and slide the Contender’s
mounting plate into the clamp. Tighten
the locking knob until the Contender is
secure and doesn’t move in the clamp.
BALLHEAD
Screw the ballhead onto the light stand.
Note: The ball head comes with a 3/8- to
1/4-inch adapter bushing installed. If your
light stand has a 3/8-inch threaded post,
remove the bushing to attach the ballhead.
Screw the ballhead’s 1/4-inch
post into the Contender.
Make sure the ballhead’s locking
handle is securely tightened before
you let go of the Contender.
Ballhead feature: The locking handle
is a ratchet-style handle. If you are
using the ballhead in a tight space that
doesn’t allow you to fully rotate the
handle, pull the handle out, reposition
it, and let it snap back into place.
