1 Power And Status LEDs:
Thisshowsiftheamplierhasbeencorrectlypoweredupandifanyfaultsarepre-
sent.
2 Crossover Selector:
Settheappropriatemodeofoperation.The3positionsavailableareOFF,LPand
H P.
3 Low Pass:
Setthecrossoverswitch2toLPwhenasubwooferisconnected.Ensurethecrosso-
verfrequencyissetat100Hzorbelow,thisfeatureisdesignedtolterallmidto
highfrequenciesthatonlyFULLRANGEspeakersshouldproduce.NOTE:Failureto
dosocouldresultinspeakerdamage.
4 High Pass:
Setthecrossoverswitch2toHPandturnthiscontrolto65Hzorabovewhenusing
speakerssmallerthan6”,thisfeatureisdesignedtolteralllowbassfrequencies
thatonlySUBWOOFERSshouldproduce.NOTE:Failuretodosocouldresultin
speakerdamage.
5 Bass Boost:
Thisisavariablecontroltoincreasethebassboostat45Hzfrom0-+18dBofgain,
adjust to suit.

6 Subsonic Filter:
ThisisavariablecontrolltersoutallSubBassFrequenciesbelowthesetpointat
18dB/octave.
7 Level:
Thisallowsleveladjustmentoftheinputsignal.Usethiscontroltocorrectlymatch
theheadunittotheamplier.Tosetthiscontrolcorrectly,turntheamplierlevel
toMINandtheheadunitto3/4volume,withtheBASSandTREBLEonzero,then
slowlyturnupthisamplierlevelcontroltowardstheMAXendofthecontrol.
NOTE:Ifthesoundbecomesdistorted,turnthiscontroldown.
8 RCA Input:
Connect these RCA connectors to the LOW LEVEL output connection from the head
unit.
9 RCA Output:
UsetheseRCAOutputconnectorstoconnecttoasecondaryamplier.Thisoutput
isaPASS-THRUconnectionderivedfromtheRCAinputconnectorsothesignal
levelandfrequencyresponsearethesameastheoriginalinputsignal.
10 Ground Connection:
Connectdirectlytoasuitablegroundpointviaa4gaugepowercable.NOTE:This
istobetherstwiretoconnect.Damagecouldresultifthisisnotdone.
11 Remote Connection:
Thisinputisforturningtheamplieronandoff.Thisrequiresaswitchedpositive
(+12V)topower‘ON’theamplier,thiscanbefoundontherearoftheheadunitin
theformofanelectricantennaoutput,oraremoteonoutput.Ifnotavailableyou
canwiretoaswitched+12Vsupply.
12 Power +12V Connection:
Thismustbeconnectedtothebatterypositive(+)terminalviaa4guagepower
cableandwithaninlinefuseorcircuitbreakeratthebatteryend.NOTE:Thisisto
bethelastwiretoconnectupduringinstallationasdamagecouldresult.
13 Fuse:
Pleaseensurethecorrecttypeoffuseistted,asspeciedinthismanual.PLEASE
NOTE:theMS-AM402has1x25Afuse.
14 Speaker Output:
Seechannelinstallationdiagramsinthismanualforcorrectspeakerconnection.

Mounting
Appropriatemountingisveryimportantfortheprolongedlifeexpectancyofany
amplier.Selectalocationthatallowsenoughspacesosufcientairowismaintainable
andalocationthatprovidesprotectionfrommoisture.Keepinmindthatanamplier
shouldneverbemountedupsidedown.Upsidedownmountingwillcompromiseheat
dissipationthroughtheheatsinkandcouldengagethethermalprotectioncircuit.
Excessiveheatwillshortenyouramplierslife.Tomaximiseheatdissipation,besureto
leaveatleast2.5”ofclearancearoundtheamplier.Ifspaceisoftheessenseandthe
ampliermustbemountedinanenclosedorrestrictedarea,asmall3inchfanshould
beusedincorrespondencewithaductsotheheatcanowpasttheHeatsink.
ToavoidscratchingyournewFUSIONamplier,pre-drillthemountingholeswitheither
a3mmor9/64”diameterdrillbitandusethescrewssuppliedintheaccessorykit.Be
suretoinvestigateyourmountingareathoroughlytoavoidelectricalwires,vacuumlines
or fuel lines.
Installation Options
ThequalityofinstallationwillaffecttheperformanceandreliabilityofyourFUSION
amplier.FormaximumperformancewerecommendyouhaveyournewFUSION
amplierinstalledbyanauthorisedFUSIONdealer.Ourhighlyskilleddealershavevast
knowledgeofourproductsandtheirinstallationtechniquesarenecessarytounleash
thehighperformancecapabilitiesofyouramplier.
Ifyoudecidetoconnecttheamplieryourself,itisimportantthatyoureadthismanual
carefullyandthroughoutbeforestarting.Onceyouhavenishedreadingandyoustill
havequestionsregardinginstallation,werecommendyourFUSIONdealer.
Connection
FUSIONampliersaredesignedtoworkwithina10to16voltDCrange.Before
anywiresareconnected,thevessel’selectricalsystemshouldbecheckedforcorrect
voltagesupplywiththehelpofavoltmeter.First,checkthevoltageatthebatterythe
voltmetershouldreadbetween12and13.8Volts.Ifyourvessel’selectricalsystemis
notuptothesespecication,werecommendhavingitcheckedbyanautoelectrician
beforeanyfurtherinstallation.Oncethevesselischecked,makecertainthecorrect
cablesizeisused.Werecommendusingthefollowingcablescalculatordiagramon
page9tocalculatethecorrectpowercableforyourapplication.
Power
FUSIONampliersshouldbewireddirectlytothebatteryusingtheappropriatesized
cable.Startatthevesselsbatteryandrunthepowercablethroughtotheamplier.
FUSIONrecommendstheuseofgrommetswhenpassingthepowercablethroughany
metalwalltoavoidsharpcornersorsharpbodypartsthatmayeasilycutthroughthe
insulation on the cable.
Avoidrunningthepowercableoverenginecomponents.Theuseofaninlinefuse
orcircuitbreakerisamust,thiswillpreventtheriskofapotentialrecausedbea
shortinyourpowercable.Connectthefuseholderorcircuitbreakerasclosetothe

battery positive terminal as possible. Use a fuse or circuit breaker of equal value as that
foundonthechassisofyourFUSIONamplier.Youmaynowconnectthecabletothe
battery,butremembertoleavethefuseoutorcircuitbreakeroffuntilallothercable
connections are made.
Ground
WhengroundingyourFUSIONamplier,usethesamegaugecableforgroundas
youdidforthepower.Securethegroundcabletotheappropriategroundpoint,now
itstimetoconnectthepowerandgroundcablestotheamplier.Cutbothcablesto
length.Useahextypescrewdrivertoloosenthe+12VandtheGNDconnectionsonthe
amplier.Terminatethegroundrst,andthenthe+12Vandpleasemakesurethatyou
terminatethemintothecorrectterminals.Thentightenthescrewsdownsecurely.
Speaker Load
KeepinmindFUSION‘AM’seriesampliersarehighpowerampliersandnothigh
currentampliers.Inotherwordstheyrequireaminimumimpedanceof2ohms
STEREOand4ohmsbridgedMONOtooperatetroublefree.Toolowofanimpedance
couldsendyourFUSIONamplierintoprotectionmodeand/ordamagetheamplier.
Remote Turn-on
Thisterminalmustbeconnectedtoaswitched+12Vsource.Typically,remote
turn-onleadsareprovidedattheheadunitwhichwillturnonandofftheamplier.Ifthe
headunitdoesnothavearemoteturn-onlead,thenapowerantennawirecanbeused.
Ifneitheroftheseleadsarepresentontheheadunitthenaswitched+12Vsupplymust
beused,liketheACC+12V.
Runaminimumof18gaugewirefromtheamplierlocationtothesourceofthe
switched+12Vlead.Connectthesourceremoteoutputtothewire.Gobacktothe
amplierandcutthewiretolength.LoosenthescrewterminalmarkedREMonthe
amplierusingahextypescrewdriver.Slipthewireintotheconnectorandtightenthe
screwsecurely.

Low Level Inputs
BeextracarefulwithyourRCAinterconnects.Hiss,enginenoise,andfannoisecan
easilybepickedupthroughRCAcablesifrunincorrectly.AvoidrunningyourRCAsnear
largewireloomsandelectricfansifpossible.RunyourRCAcablesontheoppositeside
ofthepowercable.Besuretocheckforcorrectbalance(Redisrightandblackorwhite
is left)
Level Control
Ontheamplier,istheLEVELcontrol,thiscontrolallowsyoutomatchtheinputlevelof
theampliertotheoutputlevelofyourheadunit.Matchingtheinputcanbeaccom-
plishedinthreesimplesteps:
1. TurntheLEVELcontrolontheampliertominimum.
2. Turnuptheheadunitandadjustto2/3maximumvolumeensuringthattheBASS
and TREBLE are set to zero.
3. AdjusttheLEVELcontroluntilthedesiredvolumeisachievedwithoutaudibledis-
tortion.
Remember,thegaincontrolisnotavolumecontrol.Ignoringthethreestepsabovemay
leaveyouwithdamagedspeakersand/oradamagedamplier.
