Welcome
We’re so glad you purchased Friji Fan®. We think you’ll love its performance as much
as we do: super-cooling, energy-saving, and portable.
Unlike typical misting fans, Friji Fan is perfect for use indoors, which is
made possible by its proprietary ultrafine misting technology and self-
contained water reservoir. Friji Fan is also well suited for cooling outdoor
living areas protected from wind and rain, and doubles as an easy-to-use
humidifier in dry winter months.
Here’s the real beauty—Friji Fan provides the cooling capacity of a 2,000
Btu window air conditioner, but doesn’t need venting, filters, ice, or
refrigerants. Since it uses only about the energy of a 100-watt bulb, it costs
just pennies a day to operate and is environmentally friendly. Friji Fan is
simply the best portable cooling system available today.

How Does Friji Fan Work?
Imagine standing by a waterfall on a hot summer day. You feel cool, refreshing air
circulate as a mist of fine water droplets rise.
The waterfall’s cooling effect is due to flash evaporative cooling. That’s the same
principle Friji Fan uses to cool and refresh your home or patio. Our patent-pending
ultrafine mist introduces moisture into the air in the tiniest water droplets, much like
the mist of a waterfall. You feel cooler because the tiny droplets of water evaporate,
and create a cooling effect.
It is similar to the way perspiration cools. Heat transfer occurs when the perspiration
evaporates into the air.
Through flash evaporative cooling, Friji Fan makes you feel 12 – 15° cooler in a 200
square foot room, or an air space of 1600 cubic feet.
How Is Friji Fan Designed for Indoor Use?
Because of patent-pending technology, the mist Friji Fan generates is in water
droplets much smaller than typical misting fans. The ultrafine mist, coupled with a
self-contained water reservoir, and sleek, portable design, enable the use of Friji Fan
indoors. Its unique design is unlike typical misting fans that have large water droplets,
and must be attached to a hose. And there is no need for venting, refrigerants, drip
pans, or ice cubes, so Friji Fan has less mess than room air conditioners and
swamp coolers.
That’s how Friji Fan’s design makes it perfect for use indoors or outside in areas
protected from wind and rain.
Does Friji Fan’s Super Cooling Work in Any Climate?
Whether you live in a climate that is humid, like Florida, or desert-dry, like Arizona,
the air near Friji Fan’s ultrafine mist is super cooled because of the effect of the tiny
water droplets. Even in humid climates, Friji Fan’s evaporative cooling works—just like
a mist-shrouded waterfall cools in high-humidity Hawaii.
For example, if you have an outside temperature of 100°, and an inside room
temperature of 95° with 50% humidity like in Florida or Louisiana, Friji will make the
room feel about 15° cooler, or 80°* in a 200 square foot room.
*Assumes a 200 sq. ft. room with 8’ ceilings (1600 cubic feet) and normal air exchange

The Cooling Effect of Friji Fan When the Relative Humidity Is 50%
Location Temperature
Outside 100° F
Inside 95° F
Inside (Friji cooled) 80° F
Assuming normal air exchange,** Friji Fan’s ultrafine mist will eventually increase the
humidity to about 75%. As humidity increases, evaporative cooling slows; the result is
the same room feels about 6° less cool.
Most humid climates do not exceed a humidity of 50 – 60% at the hottest time of
day. In these humid climates, Friji Fan is perfect for cooling areas that do not need
continuous cooling, for example rooms that heat up in the late afternoon sun, like
the kitchen, family room, or patio. In drier climates, humidity does not increase as
quickly, so Friji Fan can be used with maximum cooling effect for longer periods, up to
continuous operation in very dry climates.

95° F 50% 107° F
80° F 50% 81° F

Operating Instructions
Important: Friji Fan comes with a magnetic switch installed behind the fan housing. It
is used for in-store demonstration purposes only. For household use, please locate and
remove the magnetic switch before plugging the fan in. Instructions for removing the
switch are described in step 2 below. If you do not remove the magnetic switch before
plugging the fan in, your appliance will turn off after 30 seconds.
If you have removed the magnetic switch, but your fan turns off after 30 seconds,
unplug, and then plug in again. The electronics will re-set and your fan will run
continuously.
Please read and follow all instructions and warnings when operating,
cleaning and maintaining Friji Fan.
Caution: Before plugging in or unplugging Friji Fan, be sure hands and feet are dry
and you are standing on dry ground.
Unpack and Prepare for First Use.
1. Remove Friji Fan from the packaging and inspect all parts for damage. If any
part is damaged or missing call toll free 1-866-456-2814 or email
info@windmerchants.com. If power cord is damaged do not use.
Note: Do not plug in yet. There are a number of steps to complete first.
2. Remove the magnetic switch. (If fan is for in-store demonstration purposes,
do not remove magnetic switch.)
To remove magnetic switch:
a. Unplug Friji Fan.
b. Remove water reservoir: Using top handle, lift water reservoir from base.
c. Locate magnetic switch behind the fan housing.
d. Remove the label covering the magnetic switch.
e. Remove the magnetic switch and discard.
Select Fan Placement.
3. Using the base handles to move your Friji Fan, place it on a flat, stable
surface in the area you want to cool. For best results, and to prevent water
damage, follow these guidelines:
– Do not place Friji Fan directly on wood furniture, floors, or any other
unprotected furniture or areas that can be damaged by water.
– Place your Friji Fan so that the initial output of mist-infused air is not
directly in front of furniture, walls, furnishings, or where floor areas
become slippery when wet.

10 | Friji Fan Owner’s Manual
– Check and experiment with placement and fan settings to ensure
furnishings are not getting wet.
– If using outside, place where Friji Fan is protected from wind and rain.
– Friji Fan emits super cool air. Do not place Friji Fan where it will
continuously blow directly on confined animals or people such as
infants, children, invalids, disabled persons, or pets.
4. Once you’ve selected the room your Friji Fan will cool, leave the room door
partly open for proper ventilation and optimal cooling. When using in a
room where a ventilation fan is available, like in the kitchen or bathroom,
turn on the ventilation fan. This will prevent the air from becoming
saturated with humidity. Humidity saturated air does not feel as cool, and
can cause condensation on walls or furnishings.
Fill the Water Reservoir.
5. Before plugging Friji Fan in, remove the water reservoir. Use the top handle
to lift the water reservoir, and support the bottom of the reservoir with the
other hand.
6. Turn water reservoir over and unscrew lid.
7. Fill water reservoir with tap water. If you live in an area where the tap water
is hard, distilled or softened water is recommended. Fill to just below the
border where the translucent gray plastic meets the opaque gray plastic.
Stop before the water line goes past the translucent plastic. If you cannot
see the water line through the translucent plastic you have overfilled. Do
not overfill.
8. Replace lid, and screw until securely in place.
9. Return water reservoir to the appliance, lid side down.
Plug-in Friji Fan.
10. Before plugging in make sure you have dry hands, feet, and are standing on
dry ground.
11. Plug power cord securely and completely into polarized 120-volt wall outlet.
Be sure the wide blade of the plug is inserted fully into the wide slot of
the socket.
Note: When moving Friji Fan when water is in the reservoir, do not tilt the appliance.
Water in the sump will spill.
When removing the water reservoir, there may be water in the sump. Have a cloth
handy to prevent dripping.
