•Due to the possibilities of mishandling and misuse there are site carrying

requirements.

•The approved FLIR Camera carrying strap must be used while carrying

the camera (This is intended to prevent dropping the camera)

•The FLIR Camera must be carried with lens cap in place.

•NEVER walk while using the IR camera

•DO NOT look directly into the camera’s laser pointer

•DO NOT disassemble or modify the camera in any way

•DO NOT point the infrared camera at intensive energy sources

(e.g. devices that emit laser radiation or the sun)

•DO NOT use the camera in the rain or severe weather

•DO NOT apply solvents or liquids to the camera

•USE CAUTION when you clean the infrared lens

( it has a delicate anti-reflective coating)

•Investigate hydrocarbon leaks

•Trace leaks to the source

•Particularly useful in identifying minor equipment issues

•Potential leaks that can be identified by the IR camera include

- Improperly seated safety valves

- Leaks due to corrosion under insulation

- Difficult to monitor components

•Allows technicians to monitor entire operational areas at a

distance
