CAUTION
(Without Safety Alert Symbol) indicates a situation that may
result in property damage.
Shock Hazard
Use of this equipment involves power supplies which convert
line voltage to low voltage power. Do not modify or use power
supplies other than OEM equipment. Connection of the power
supply may require a properly grounded receptacle. Potential
for electrical shock or equipment damage exists if precautions
are not followed.

Intended Use Statement
The Refrigerators/Freezers described in this manual are for professional use only.
These
products are intended for use in research for the storage of samples or inventory
in the
following temperature ranges:
Refrigerators +1°C to +12°C
Freezers -12°C to -20°C
This unit is not considered a medical device and has therefore not been registered with a
medical device regulatory body (e.g. FDA): that is, it has not been evaluated for the storage
of samples for diagnostic use or for samples to be re-introduced to the body.
17LREEFSA is a General Purpose Laboratory Refrigerator it is
not for
storage of any flammable materials. Only Explosion Proof
Units or
Flammable aterial Storage Units, are to be used for the
storage of
flammable inventory/samples.

General-Purpose Laboratory
Refrigerators/Freezers
Overview
These are general-purpose units available in all refrigerator, all freezer and
combination refrigerator/freezer models. These units are intended for basic
laboratory use only. Storage of high-value, life science materials or clinical
biological may require alarm, monitoring, back-up and temperature
performance features. The need to add these features should be determined
by your industrial hygienist or safety officer. These units are not suitable for
corrosive, flammable and explosive environments.
4
WARNING: DO NOT store flammable materials in
General Purpose Laboratory Refrigerator / Freezers.
Risk of explosion, fire and injury may occur.
For flammable materials use either a Flammable
Material Storage Unit or an Explosion Proof Unit.
Warning

Unpacking
Save all packing material if apparatus is received
damaged. This merchandise was carefully packed and
thoroughly inspected before leaving our factory.
Responsibility for its safe delivery was assumed by the
carrier upon acceptance of the shipment; therefore,
claims for loss or damage sustained in transit must be
made upon the carrier by the recipient as follows:
Visible Loss or Damage
Note any external evidence of loss or damage on the
freight bill, or express receipt, and have it signed by the
carrier’s agent. Failure to adequately describe such
external evidence of loss or damage may result in the
carrier’s refusing to honor your damage claim. The form
required to file such a claim will be supplied by the carrier.
Concealed Loss or Damage
Concealed loss or damage refers to loss or damage,
which does not become apparent until the merchandise
has been unpacked and inspected. Should either occur,
make a written request for the carrier’s agent within 15
days of the delivery date; then file a claim with the
carrier
since the damage is the carrier’s responsibility.
If you follow the above instructions carefully, we will
guarantee our full support of your claim to be
compensated for loss from concealed damage.

Installation
Selecting a Location
Choose a place that is near to a grounded electrical outlet.
For efficient operation, unit should be located where
surrounding temperature will not exceed 110°F (43°C).
Choose a location for the refrigerator that will provide
3 inches space on all sides, 1 inch at the bottom and
3 inches at the top.
Leveling the Unit
Unit must have all bottom corners resting firmly on a
solid floor. The floor must be strong enough to support
a fully loaded unit.
After discarding creating screws use a carpenters level
to level the unit from front-to-back. Adjust the plastic
levelling feet in front, ½ bubble higher, so that the door
closes easily when left open.
Shelves
Shipped inside each cabinet are three adjustable
shelves. Multi position adjustable interior shelves can
be moved to any position for larger or smaller
packages. Shipping spacers that stabilize the shelves
for shipping should be removed and discarded.
To install the shelf grommet to the shelf:
1. With the wire shelf installed, press the shelf grommet
down onto the wire that is anchored into the appliance
wall. Be sure to keep the larger end of the shelf
grommet away from the wall (See Fig.1).
2. Push the shelf grommet onto the wire until
it snaps in place. (See Fig.2).
3. Slide the shelf grommet into the grommet
already in the unit wall until it is flush (See Fig.3).

INSTALLATION
Warning
For personal safety this unit must be
properly grounded.
Warning
DO NOT under any circumstances cut
or remove the third (ground) prong
from the power cord. DO NOT use a
two-prong adapter plug.
Caution:
Do not use an extension cord. Use of an
ungrounded cord or an overloaded circuit
VOIDS the compressor warranty.
The power cord of this instrument is equipped with a three
prong (grounding) plug (NEMA 5-15P). This plug mates
with a standard three prong (grounding) wall receptacle
(NEMA 5-15R) to minimize the potential of an electrical
shock hazard. The customer should have the wall
receptacle and circuit checked by a qualified electrician to
verify the receptacle is properly grounded and is connect-
ed to a minimum 15 amp service.
Caution
Be sure that the power supply is the
same voltage that is specified on the
refrigerator’s data plate.
Electrical Connection
Determine the total amount of current presently being
used by other apparatus connected to the circuit that will
be used by this refrigerator. It is critical that this added
current demand and other equipment on this circuit not
exceed the rating of the fuse or circuit breaker in use.
The frequency and nominal voltage requirements for the
unit are specified on the data plate, which is located on
the interiors upper left side. Only plug the unit into a
power source that meets these requirements. Low line
voltage is often the cause of service complaints. With the
unit running, check that the line voltage is within ±10% of
that specified on the data plate.
To install the handle clips to the basket:
1. Place the basket on a firm, flat surface. (See Fig.4).
2. With the narrow side of the handle clip on
the inside of the basket, snap the handle
clip to the recessed area in the basket. (See Fig.5).
3. Once the inside surface snaps in place, continue
the process by rolling the handle clip slightly outward
and pressing down firmly to snap onto the outside
surface. If installed incorrectly, the handle clip will not
lay flat (See Fig.6).

Operation
Warning
DO NOT store flammable materials
in
this General Purpose Laboratory
Refrigerator. Explosion, fire and/or
injury may result.
Temperature Control
To adjust the interior temperature, simply turn the thermostat knob to
a larger number for a colder control point or a
smaller number for a
warmer control point (See Fig.7).
Changing the Light Bulb:
The lights comes on automatically when the door is opened. To
replace the light bulb, turn the temperature control to OFF and
unplug the electrical cord. Replace the old bulb with a bulb of the
same wattage.
