1 Important instructions

2 Safety instructions

2.1 Installation and commissioning

– Never install damaged products or place them in operation. Report damages immediately to the

responsible forwarding agent.

– Installation, commissioning and service work on the device may only be performed by trained elec-

tricians with knowledge of the relevant accident prevention regulations.

– The applicable regulations and other special safety regulations for the item and application must be

observed.

2.2 User instructions

– Install and place the module in operation only if you are aware of the applicable regulations for

industrial safety and the operating instructions for the CMGA-B1 basic modules!

2.3 Intended utilization

– The module may only be used in a PROFIBUS-DP environment as a “SLAVE” sub-assembly in accord-

ance with the standard EN 50170.

– CMGA-E1-PB must not be used for safety-relevant reactions.

2.4 Operation and service

– Before installation and removal of the module or disconnecting signal and power supply cables,

power to the module must be switched off.

– During installation and removal of the module, appropriate measures must be applied to prevent

electrostatic discharge to the externally arranged terminal and plug connections.

2.5 Scope of delivery

Included in scope of delivery is:

– extension module CMGA-E1-PB

The GSD file with CMGA icon and the installation manuals can be found on the CD-ROM

GSPF-CMGA-BS... or under www.festo.com.

3 Functional description

The CMGA-E1-PB permits the user to transmit CAN telegrams (diagnostic telegram, e.g.

CMGA-B1-M2-L2-A0) through PROFIBUS DP. A maximum of 8 CAN telegrams can be received and

passed on.

The module must be parametrised as a Profibus station (slave).

The PROFIBUS baud rate of 9.6 kBaud to 12 Mbaud is recognised automatically. The size of the output

information is a maximum of 64 bytes.

The CMGA-E1-PB must be connected through a rear-wall plug connector to one or more base modules

CMGA-B1....

The Profibus plug connection must take place in accordance with the mounting regulations of the PNO.

4 Commissioning

4.1 Procedure

Commissioning must only be performed by qualified personnel! Strictly observe the safety instructions

when commissioning!

In the following, commissioning in Step7 is shown as an example.

4.2 Linking of the GSD file

First, copy the GSD file and the *.dib files into the Step7 program directory.

In the sub-item “Additional field devices”->“General”-> CMGA-E1-PB drag DP-V0 into the network dia-

gram and assign Profibus address.

4.2.3 Link to Hardware Config

CMGA-E1-PB Select module and fill card slot with CAN objects (INPUT: 8 byte).

From 1 to 8 CAN objects can be added, depending on the application.

4.2.4 Configuration CMGA-E1-PB

The following displays the configurations that are needed for the internal CAN bus (backwall bus) of the

CMGA safety system:

The following settings can be made:

CANbaudrate Baud rate setting for CAN communication (currently, only one setting

of 500 kBit/s is permissible)

Number of CAN modules Number of CAN objects present on the card slots.

Module ID Fixed at “1”

Timeout CAN WD Timeout Timeout time for “internal” CAN communication (see configuration

of diagnostics in the programming manual)

Note:

– Only when connected to the PROFIBUS master system are the configured data accep-

ted into the CMGA-E1-PB. Otherwise, the “default settings” are valid:
