Important Safety Instructions

READ CAREFULLY AND KEEP FOR FUTURE REFERENCE

Read this manual thoroughly before first use, even if you are familiar with this

type of product. The safety precautions enclosed herein reduce the risk of fire,

electric shock and injury when correctly adhered to. Make sure you understand

all instructions and warnings. Keep the manual in a safe place for future

reference, along with any warranty information, your purchase receipt and the

packaging carton. If you sell or transfer ownership of this product, please pass

on these instructions to the new owner.

Always follow basic safety precautions and accident prevention measures

when using an electrical appliance, including the following:

Electrical safety and cord handling

• Voltage: Make sure your outlet voltage and circuit frequency correspond to

the voltage stated on the rating label. If this is not the case, do not use the

fan heater.

• Electrical circuit: To prevent overloading a circuit, do not plug the heater into

a circuit that already has other appliances working.

• Water: To protect against ﬁre and electric shock, do not immerse the cord,

plug or the heater in water or other liquid, or allow water to come into contact

with the plug or control device.

• Ingress protection: The appliance is protected against exposure to vertically

or nearly vertically dripping water, and against insertion of objects up to

12mm, such as a ﬁnger (IP22).

• Damage: Check the power cord regularly for visible damage. If the cord is

damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its authorised service

centres or appropriately qualiﬁed personnel in order to avoid any hazards.

WARNING! Do not pick up or operate the appliance if the power supply cord,

plug or housing is damaged, or after it malfunctions or has been dropped or

damaged in any manner. In case of damage, contact our after sales support

centre for advice.

• Protect the power cord:

- Do not operate the fan heater with the cord coiled up; always fully unwind.

- Do not twist or kink the cord or let it touch heated surfaces.

- Do not put any stress on the cord where it connects to the product.

- Never carry the fan heater by the cord.

- Arrange the cord away from any trafﬁc area so no one will trip over it.

- Ensure the cord is placed at the back, away from the heater’s front panel.

- Do not run the cord under carpeting or cover it with rugs or runners.

• Connection: To insert the plug, grasp it ﬁrmly and guide it into the outlet.

• Disconnection: Unplug the appliance from the power outlet when it is

not in use and before wall-mounting, cleaning, moving or servicing the fan

heater. Grasp the plug and remove it from the outlet, do not pull the cord to

disconnect.

• WARNING! Do not leave unattended during use! Always switch off the

appliance and unplug it when it is not in use, if left unattended, and before

cleaning and storing.

• RCD: Unless your home is already ﬁtted with a residual current device

(safety switch), we recommend installing an RCD with a rated residual

operating current not exceeding 30mA to provide additional safety

protection when using electrical appliances. See your electrician for

professional advice.

• WARNING! No extension cord, no timer: Do not use this heater with

an extension cord, plug adaptor, external timer or separate speed control

device.

Usage conditions and restrictions

• Domestic use only: This fan heater is intended for indoor household use

only. It is not suitable for commercial, industrial or outdoor use. It is only

suitable for well insulated spaces or occasional use.

• Space heating only: Do not use this appliance for anything other than its

intended purpose, and only use it as described in this manual. Any other

use is not recommended and may cause ﬁre, electric shock or injury.

• Attachments: The use of accessory attachments not recommended in this

manual may cause injury or hazards.

• Usage restriction: This fan heater is not intended for use by persons

(including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or

lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision

or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for

their safety.

• Children: This fan heater is not a toy. Supervise children to ensure they do

not play with it. Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used

by or near children.

• Wall-mounting: Only use the fan heater fully assembled and mounted

to a suitable, ﬂat wall that is strong enough to support the weight of the

appliance.

• Clearances: The heater must be installed in a position where the outlet

grille is a minimum distance of:

- 1800mm from the ﬂoor

- 350mm from the nearest side to an adjacent wall

- 500mm from the ceiling to the top face of the heater

- 90mm from any combustible material such as furniture, curtains, bedding,

clothes or papers, etc.

• Installation requirements: The heater is to be installed so that switches

and other controls cannot be touched by a person in the bath or shower.

The plug must not be positioned below the heater.

• Keep the top clear: Do not place anything on top of fan heater.

• No overnight use: Do not leave the heater on overnight.

• WARNING! DO NOT use the fan heater in the following areas or

circumstances:

- Near an open ﬂame, a hot burner, oven or other source of high heat

- Outdoors or in areas of high humidity without suitable ventilation

- Near a swimming pool or other source of water, where it may get splashed

or fall into the water

- In a window or near curtains

- Above a socket outlet

- In areas where paint, petrol, etc. is stored and there is a risk of explosion

or ﬁre from ﬂammable gases, or in areas where substances are being

sprayed.

• CAUTION! Personal safety: Avoid contact with moving parts. Never insert

ﬁngers, pencils or any other objects through the grilles when the fan heater

is running. Keep hair and loose clothing well away from the fan heater when

it is in use.

• Free airflow: Ensure nothing is blocking the airﬂow grilles. Do not insert

foreign objects into any opening as this may cause electric shock and/or a

ﬁre hazard.

• Moving: When moving the appliance, do not touch the outlet grilles.

• Cleaning: When cleaning the appliance, do not use water or a wet cloth on

any part of the unit, as this may cause a short circuit or electric shock.

• Misuse: We accept no liability for any damages or personal injury caused by

misuse of the product and/or failure to follow these instructions.

Unpacking

• This product has been packaged to protect it against transportation

damage. Unpack the appliance and keep the original packaging carton

and materials in a safe place. It will help prevent any damage if the product

needs to be transported in the future, and you can use it to store the

appliance when it is not in use. In the event that it is to be disposed of,

please recycle all packaging materials where possible.

• Plastic wrapping can be a suffocation hazard for babies and young

children, so ensure all packaging materials are out of their reach and

disposed of safely.

• Unwind the cord to its full length and inspect it for damage. Do not use the

appliance if the appliance or its cord have been damaged or are not working

properly. In case of damage, contact our after sales support centre for

advice on examination, repair or return of the damaged product.

• Make sure you have read and understood all instructions and warnings in

this manual. Refer to the Product Overview, opposite, to familiarise yourself

with the product and identify all parts. Pay particular attention to the safety

instructions on the previous pages.

• Assembly: Your new fan heater comes fully assembled, ready for wall-

mounting to a suitable wall. Wall-mounting instructions are provided on the

following page.

Wall-mounting instructions

IMPORTANT!

• Your wall must be structurally sound and sturdy enough to support the

weight of the heater. If in doubt about the suitability of your wall, please

consult a builder. If mounting the heater to a plasterboard wall, make

sure you mount it onto a wall stud.

• A power point must be in easy reach, but not directly below the heater.

• Ensure you are mounting the fan heater in a safe location on the wall; do

not mount it directly above a bed, cot or similar location.

• In accordance with the safety instructions, determine the place on the wall

where you want to mount the fan heater. Mark two holes for the screws

165mm apart and at a minimum distance of 1.8m above the ﬂoor (Fig. 1).

• If you are mounting the heater above a shelf or other wall-mounted object,

then there must be a minimum clearance of 700mm between the shelf and

the air outlet.

• Using the two small screws provided, afﬁx

the small metal plate to the back of the

heater, as illustrated (Fig. 2: a).

• Drill two holes in the wall where you have

marked the spots – their diameter should be

wide enough so they just tightly contain the

plastic wall plugs. Insert two of the plugs into

the holes, then screw in two screws, keeping

the tips protruding approximately 5mm.

• When the wall plugs and screws are secured

in the wall, hang the heater with the holes at the

back (Fig. 2: b) over the protruding screw tips.

Ensure that the heater is hanging straight, then

mark the spot for the third wall plug through the

hole in the metal plate (Fig. 2: c). Take the heater

off the wall, drill a hole where you marked the

spot and insert the third wall plug.

• Hang the heater back on the wall (over the two

protruding screw tips) and fasten it with the third

screw into the wall plug at the bottom.

• To check that the heater is securely mounted,

try to gently slide the heater upwards. It should

not move.

Connection

• Insert the power plug into an appropriate electrical outlet nearby and switch

on the power at the outlet. Always use a separate socket that has no other

high wattage appliances connected at the same time – do not plug it into a

power board or socket adaptor; do not use an extension cord.

Operation

This wall fan heater is equipped with a pull cord for easy operation.

• Pull the cord once, gently, to switch on the fan heater. The pilot light will

illuminate and the fan heater will start with low (1000W) heat output.

• Pull the cord a second time to select high (2000W) heat output.

• Pull the cord a third time to switch off the heater.

WARNING: Do not pull the cord too hard, otherwise it may break.

Overheat protection

This heater is equipped with an overheat protection device, which will turn the

heater off in the event of overheating. The heater will automatically reset when

it has cooled down.

When the overheat protection device has been triggered and the appliance

stops working, turn the heater off, disconnect it and let it cool down. Inspect

the air outlet and intake grilles at the front and back of the unit and remove any

obstructions and blockages. Wait at least 10 minutes for the protection system

to reset before attempting to restart the heater.

If the overheat protection device keeps switching the heater off and you cannot

restart it, please contact our after sales support centre for advice.

Instructions

IMPORTANT!

• A common cause of overheating is deposits of dust and ﬂuff entering

the heater. Ensure these deposits are removed regularly by unplugging

the heater, allowing it to cool and cleaning it (see page 10).

• Also make sure that the appliance can sufﬁciently dissipate the heat

generated. This is particularly important in case the overheat protection

has been triggered. Ensure there is sufﬁcient room all around the heater,

and nothing is covering or obstructing the air outlet at the front or air

intake grille at the back of the unit.

Other Useful Information

Cleaning and maintenance

Disconnect the fan heater from the power supply and take it off the wall for

cleaning and maintenance.

• Dusting: Clean your fan heater periodically by lightly running a vacuum

cleaner nozzle (soft brush) over the front and rear grilles to remove any

dust or dirt that may have accumulated inside or on the unit. Alternatively,

use a soft, dry cloth or feather duster for dusting.

• Stubborn stains: Use a slightly damp, soapy cloth for stubborn stains but

be sure the cloth is not too wet. Dry thoroughly.

Storage

• To store the fan heater when it is not in use, take it off the wall and store it in a

safe, dry location, protected from dust.

• We recommend using the original carton for storage. Alternatively, place it in a

plastic bag or wrap it in a piece of material for dust protection.

Service/repair

• The appliance requires no maintenance and contains no user-serviceable

parts. Do not attempt to take it apart, or to repair or modify the appliance.

• Do not operate the fan heater if its power cord or plug is damaged, or

when it is working abnormally. In case of damage or malfunction, or if

the cord is damaged, have the unit repaired by appropriately qualiﬁed

personnel only, or contact our after sales support centre for advice on

repair or replacement.

WARNING!

• Before cleaning, maintenance or moving the fan heater, and before

removing the air outlet grille, switch off the fan heater and unplug it from

the wall outlet.

• Do not immerse the fan heater in water or other liquids.

• Never use petrol, solvents, harsh detergents, or abrasive or alkaline

cleaners on the fan heater.
