Safety Precautions and Important Notes
Warning!
Disconnect the mains plug from the power outlet before making any adjustments to the
machine or replacing the parts.
Wait about 30 seconds after disconnecting the plug (capacitor discharge).
1. This service manual is intended to help with minor repairs and adjustments. The instructions do not claim to be
complete or comprehensive.
The manual does not provide guidance for complete assembly or disassembly.
2. When servicing, always use the original accessories, either those delivered with the machine or purchased
afterwards. These are the following:
Mains cable, Foot control, Buttonhole foot, Bobbin case with bobbin, other accessories.
3. Electronic parts and components may only be dispatched in their original packaging, with factory equipped
documentation.
4. This manual subject to revisions without notice. The recipients is responsible for updating the information provided
by FGAG, BERNINA, Steckborn, Switzerland.
Protection of Electrical Components
against Electrostatic Discharge
When carrying out service work on computerized machines, or when handling circuit
boards, the service technicians must be in an ESD protected environment.
1. The surface of the workbench should be conductive so that the electrostatic charges are conducted away but it
should have enough resistance to prevent short-circuiting and grounding of parts laid out on the bench.
2. The service technicians should wear wristbands connected to the bench surface. To ensure the safety of personnel,
a resistance of approx. 1 M ohm must be connected in series with the conductive wristband.
3. Electronic parts and components may only be dispatched in their original packaging, with factory equipped
documentation.
